Bengals | Jeremy Hill, Gio Bernard do little

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 18:23:55 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed four times for 16 yards while RB Giovani Bernard rushed twice for two yards with two catches for 30 yards in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Hill and Bernard are well behind Joe Mixon for touches in the Cincinnati backfield, as the rookie had 15 rushes for 51 yards and a touchdown. As such, they're only worth using in the deepest of fantasy leagues right now. Cincinnati is off in Week 6 before traveling to Pittsburgh in Week 7.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill limited to 16 yards

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 13:21:20 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed for 16 yards on six carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has been passed by Joe Mixon on the depth chart and likely will continue to see limited touches in games. He should be avoided in all fantasy leagues unless he receives a bigger role.

Bengals | Joe Mixon receives majority of snaps

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 15:30:41 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon received 34 offensive snaps in the team's Week 3 game. RB Jeremy Hill received 14 snaps, while RB Giovani Bernard received 13 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Mixon will be the No. 1 running back for the Bengals moving forward, which makes him a valuable option for fantasy owners. He can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option most weeks. Hill can be considered a flex option against certain opponents in standard leagues, while Bernard can be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill has eight touches

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 19:55:20 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill finished with seven carries for 23 yards and one catch for six yards in a 27-24 loss to Green Bay Packers in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Hill saw 11 fewer carries than Joe Mixon, and he seems to be falling further behind the rookie. At this point, Hill is only worth stashing in case Mixon goes down with an injury.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill totals 19 yards vs. Texans

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 21:21:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill carried six times for 17 yards and caught a two-yard pass against the Houston Texans in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Make it two weeks in a row for Hill with exactly six carries and one reception -- hardly the stuff of fantasy relevance. Even with backfield mates Gio Bernard and Joe Mixon failing to distinguish themselves, Hill's prospects seem the bleakest of the bunch going forward. At best he can be stashed on your bench, but don't go out of your way to keep him there.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill totals seven touches

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:19:35 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed six times for 26 yards with one grab for minus-2 yards in Week 1 against Baltimore.

Fantasy Tip: Hill had a total of seven touches to eight total touches for Giovani Bernard and 11 touches for Joe Mixon. The distribution was fairly even among the triumvirate with Bernard perhaps the most attractive from a fantasy perspective. The Bengals host the Texans in Week 2 on Thursday night.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill a full participant

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 12:24:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 8, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Hill probably will be the starting running back against the Baltimore Ravens but will be sharing playing time with Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard. Hill may receive a majority of the carries but probably should be considered a flex option in most leagues.

Bengals | Cincinnati to utilize hot hand at RB

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 09:17:26 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Jeremy Hill, Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard are expected to begin the season in a committee, according to running backs coach Kyle Caskey. "You plan initially for it and try to put guys in the right places for what their talents can do and once the game gets going there is a flow to it. If a guy does have a little juice to him at that time then you stick with him," Caskey said.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals have a history of taking it easy on their rookie running backs, but it seems a bit ridiculous in this case, as Hill hasn't been very effective or efficient since his rookie season in 2014. Mixon is the superior talent, so owners need to remain patient. About the only near-certainties in Cincinnati's backfield are that Bernard is expected to see most of the third-down work and Hill is likely to get the bulk of the work at the goal line. It's up to Mixon to make it obvious he needs to be playing the rest of the time.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill fully practices again

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 12:28:02 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is the starter on paper for the Bengals, but keep an eye on how involved rookie Joe Mixon is. Mixon's talent and playmaking ability can't be ignored for long, but for now Hill is as serviceable flex play.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill goes through full practice

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 13:47:57 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) was able to take part in a full practice session on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Hill, who was surprisingly listed at the top of the team's depth chart earlier this week, is trying to hold off Giovani Bernard and rookie Joe Mixon for touches. It's likely Hill sees a healthy amount of carries, but head coach Marvin Lewis could also use a hot-hand approach. It's a tricky backfield fantasy situation in the Queen City, and one to avoid for DFS purposes.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill still listed as starter

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 11:30:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is listed as the No. 1 running back on the Bengals' official depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: This was the prevailing thought for the majority of the offseason. Hill was hampered by the injury bug last season, so the Bengals are giving him a chance to prove himself again. Giovani Bernard and Joe Mixon obviously limit Hill's fantasy ceiling, especially in PPR formats, but Hill is an under-the-radar late-round option for those who haven't drafted.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill injures ankle

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 14:56:08 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 27, and will not return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check for an update on Hill's status after the game to see if he is in danger of missing any regular season games. He may be the starting running back in 2017 but will have to share snaps with Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard. Hill could be a No. 3 or No. 4 running back in most leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to start all season?

Thu, 10 Aug 2017 10:34:22 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will start all season unless he's injured or "absolutely terrible," in the opinion of The Cincinnati Enquirer's Jim Owczarski. Hill was listed as the starting running back on the Bengals' initial depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: There's lots of smoke blowing this time of year. It remains to be seen whether or not Cincinnati is swirling in smoke or if the air is the clear. Joe Mixon is the most talented and valuable running back on the Bengals' roster, but if Cincinnati wants to die on Hill's hill then so be it. For now, Hill provides late-round value, while Mixon remains an RB2 candidate.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill listed as starter

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 11:31:03 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is listed with the first-team offense on the Bengals' initial depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: There has been growing speculation that Hill would be the Week 1 starter for the Bengals. Joe Mixon is expected to be hot on his heels, though, and has the most fantasy upside of any Bengal back. As such, Hill is more of a mid- to late-round flex option.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to be the Week 1 starter?

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 09:52:44 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will likely exit training camp as the starting running back over Joe Mixon if history is any indication, according to ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon has been creating buzz virtually from the time he was drafted, but the Bengals do have some extensive history of making their rookies "earn it," so Hill serving as a nominal starter throughout September is a distinct possibility. It's a reminder Mixon has nothing locked up yet, even if he is the overwhelming favorite to lead the backfield in touches. The rookie should be considered a midrange fantasy RB2 with RB1 upside if he is able to become the featured back at any point this season.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to remain involved

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 18:35:44 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is "going to get some carries" and will remain a factor near the goal line, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Fantasy Tip: The assumption is that Joe Mixon will eventually take control of Cincinnati's backfield, but Hill could have something to say about that. Mixon is without a doubt the better long-term option, but Hill could still be a flex play this season.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill wants more efficiency

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 19:56:20 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill said his goal for next season is to make his "yards per carry higher" and to break more tackles.

Fantasy Tip: After a couple of down years, Hill could see a reduction in carries. However, he should still receive most of the work around the goal line and at least remain a quality flex option.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to serve as backup?

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 17:40:10 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will likely serve as the backup running back and goal-line specialist in 2017, according to beat writer Paul Dehner Jr.

Fantasy Tip: Hill's value would take a hit if he becomes the backup, but as long as he is handling carries around the goal line, he will remain a viable flex option for fantasy owners.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill won't play in Week 17

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 08:47:40 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) is inactive for Week 17's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 30, and had been listed as questionable on the injury report. He will finish the season with 839 rushing yards, 174 receiving yards and nine touchdowns through 15 games. Rex Burkhead is expected to see the bulk of the carries for the Bengals this afternoon and is worthy of consideration as a flex option in many leagues.

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 08:42:48 -0800

The Cincinnati Bengals have declared OG Christian Westerman, DL DeShawn Williams, WR Jake Kumerow, QB Jeff Driskel, RB Jeremy Hill, TE Tyler Kroft, LB Vontaze Burfict inactive for Week 17.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill listed as questionable

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 13:38:05 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hill probably will be a game-time decision, so owners will need to check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. He probably would be limited if he plays, so owners may want to look for healthier options to use and avoid Hill. Rex Burkhead would receive most of the work if Hill is ruled out and could be a flex option in leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill unlikely to play

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 20:36:23 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) is unlikely to play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Rex Burkhead would likely lead the backfield if Hill sits, but he would still just be a flex option against a stout Baltimore run defense.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill does not practice

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 12:17:19 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Hill's status for Week 17 is uncertain at this point, but owners will know more about his availability after practice Friday, Dec. 30. Hill can be a No. 2 running back if he plays, but owners should have other options in case he is ruled out.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill does not practice

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 13:16:32 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was able to play in Week 16 despite the injury but was limited to eight yards on seven carries. Owners should check on his status later in the week but he should be considered a No. 2 running back if he is active.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill active for SNF

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 16:03:12 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) is active for the Week 16 game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Hill will be a busy guy in the Cincinnati offense, as the Houston pass defense is strong and their run defense is simply mediocre. That's good for Hill's fantasy prospects.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill expected to play

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 20:01:09 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) is listed as questionable to face the Houston Texans in Week 16, but he is expected to play, according to a team source.

Fantasy Tip: The Texans have a stout defense, but Hill's heavy workload and ability to find the end zone will keep him in the RB2 mix.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill listed as questionable

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 13:44:10 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Hill should be on track to play in Week 16 after having no restrictions during practice Friday, but owners should check on the inactive list to make sure of his status. He will continue to receive most of the work at running back and can be a No. 2 running back in leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill returns to practice

Thu, 22 Dec 2016 19:37:48 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) returned to practice and was a limited participant Thursday, Dec. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Hill hasn't been an efficient runner, but he has nine touchdowns and has scored in three straight games. His ability to reach the end zone with regularity keeps him in the RB2 conversation in Week 16.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill does not practice

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 15:04:35 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was banged up during the team's Week 15 game but was able to return to the game, so owners should monitor the situation during the week. Hill has received most of the work at running back and should be a No. 2 running back if he plays.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill scores in loss

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 15:22:21 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill ran 20 times for 43 yards and scored a touchdown in a 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Hill and Rex Burkhead are sort of forming a RB committee in the final couple weeks, so the best thing to do is either avoid this group entirely or make sure both are in your lineup. Considering the Bengals' struggles this season, lean toward starting neither.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill primed for big game?

Sat, 10 Dec 2016 17:56:36 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill ran for a career-high 168 yards against the Browns earlier this year, and he is one of six Bengals running backs to top 100 yards against the Browns since 1999.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has really struggled in recent weeks, but a matchup against a Cleveland defense allowing the second-most rushing yards should put him squarely in the RB2 mix in Week 14.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill mostly bottled up

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 20:31:06 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed 23 times for just 33 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also had two grabs for 12 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was outrushed by Rex Burkhead, as the starter's longest rush was just seven yards. Still, he was able to salvage the stat line with the touchdown. He will have much better results in Week 14 against a poor Cleveland Browns rush defense.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill injures ankle

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 11:08:06 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in Week 12 but is expected to return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Hill returns to the game and if he is limited by the injury. He will receive most of the work at running back moving forward with Giovani Bernard out and should be a No. 2 running back if healthy.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill has decent outing

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 14:56:31 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed for 62 yards on 16 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hill saw his three-game touchdown streak snapped against the Bills and has been held to under 75 yards in four of the last six games. Hill will continue to receive a majority of the carries in the running game and can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option in leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill riding career-long TD streak

Tue, 15 Nov 2016 15:27:30 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill has rushed for a touchdown in three consecutive games, the longest such streak of his career.

Fantasy Tip: It's an odd little note, considering Hill compiled 20 rushing touchdowns in his first two seasons in the league prior to this year. He's recorded six scores thus far in 2016, and although he's on pace to finish with less than last year's amount (11), the 24-year-old has provided fine value for owners who nabbed him in the second round and beyond in drafts this past summer.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill finds end zone

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 20:51:42 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill carried 15 times for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 game against the New York Giants Monday, Nov. 14. He was not targeted in the pass game.

Fantasy Tip: Hill's longest carry of the night was nine yards, as he averaged just 3.1 yards per tote. However, he has scored a rushing touchdown in three straight games and remains a low-end RB2 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 11 against Buffalo.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill scores TD in Week 8

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 13:08:11 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed for 76 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries against the Washington Redskins in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Hill found the end zone for the second straight game and rushed the ball at least 20 times for the second time this season. He will continue to receive most of the carries during games and can be a No. 2 running back for owners.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill rushes for 168 yards

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 14:04:02 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed for 168 yards and one touchdown on nine carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 7. He also caught two passes for 24 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Hill suffered a minor injury during the game but should be fine. He has been inconsistent in terms of his rushing yards this season but has received at least 10 carries in four of the seven games this season. He can be a decent No. 2 running back in most leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill suffered injury

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 12:57:38 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (chest) suffered a chest injury in Week 7 but was considered probable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Hill should be fine moving forward, but owners could keep an eye on the situation leading up to Week 8. He has been a bit inconsistent with his rushing yards over the past few weeks but can be a No. 2 running back in a majority of leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill mostly bottled up

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 22:16:29 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed 13 times for just 38 yards in the Week 6 game against the New England Patriots. He finished with just one catch for three yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hill had a tremendous 2014 campaign, but he took a step back in 2015 and has been mostly mediocre this season. Treat him as more of an RB3 in most fantasy leagues, filling in when your primary two options have bye weeks or difficult matchups.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill likely will play

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 15:45:16 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (chest) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Hill likely will see his usual workload against the New England Patriots despite the injury. He probably should be considered a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in most fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill up to speed

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 19:09:31 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (chest) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is always a threat to find the end zone, but a tough matchup on the road against New England makes him more of a flex option in Week 6.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill listed as limited

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 16:10:50 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Hill probably will be able to play in Week 6 unless he suffers a setback. He should continue to receive most of the carries during the game and can be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in all leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill practicing

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 11:30:41 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (shoulder) is participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Hill will be able to play this week and will share playing time with Giovani Bernard. He probably will receive most of the carries in the game but will be facing a tough New England Patriots defense. Hill probably should be considered a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill will practice this week

Mon, 10 Oct 2016 13:07:02 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (shoulder) will be ready to practice Wednesday, Oct. 12, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. Hill suffered a shoulder injury in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Hill's season to date has left something to be desired, but he deserves a do-over after an early exit in Week 5. His ceiling will always be lower because of Giovani Bernard, but Hill has shown a nose for the endzone throughout his career. He and the Bengals have a tougher test versus the New England Patriots this week. If Hill can fully practice later this week then he'll be a low-end RB2 or flex option.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill upgraded to full

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 14:01:41 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (chest) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 7, after getting in limited sessions earlier in the week.

Fantasy Tip: He never really appeared to be in much danger of missing Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, but it is good to see him making progress regardless. He owns a 61-44 advantage in touches over Giovani Bernard, who has been completely ineffective as a rusher of the season (2.7 yards per carry on 25 attempts). Bernard will remain involved regardless, but Hill could be on the verge of taking over a larger share of the ground game soon. He's a touchdown-dependent RB2 right now.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill remains limited

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 19:41:53 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (chest) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has logged 38 carries the last two weeks combined, and as long as he suits up, he should be a RB2 against the Cowboys in Week 5.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill limited

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 16:30:45 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (chest) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Hill should have a decent chance to play in Week 5, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. He has rushed for 221 yards and three touchdowns over the last four games and could be a No. 2 running back option in leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill scores twice

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 14:53:49 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed for 97 yards on 17 carries and scored twice Sunday, Sept. 25, in a 29-17 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: This number is slightly misleading, as Hill had a 50-yard run tucked into this total. Still, this performance is enough to recommend Hill has a running back in fantasy circles, more likely a RB2 or RB3.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill has difficult afternoon

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 22:15:27 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill ran 11 times for just 22 yards in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he added three receptions for 37 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has started out slow for fantasy owners and should be treated as a low-end RB2 in most formats. He has been outperformed by teammate Giovani Bernard thus far.
