Patriots | Jeremy Hill finally healthy

Thu, 03 May 2018 20:44:50 -0700

New England Patriots RB Jeremy Hill said he is finally feeling like himself again after having ankle surgery last season. "I really didn't have the flexibility and the strength in it that I needed to be the back that I wanted to be," Hill said. "I'm glad that I got it done and I can get it back to 100 percent and be the back I know I can be."

Fantasy Tip: Even if Hill is as healthy, he will have a hard time putting up big numbers in New England's crowded backfield. He's a late-round lottery ticket.

Patriots | Several RB battling for one spot?

Fri, 27 Apr 2018 20:20:03 -0700

New England Patriots RBs Brandon Bolden, Mike Gillislee and Jeremy Hill might be competing for one spot with the chance one gets cut even before training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Hill signed a one-year deal with the team in the offseason and has reportedly been making a positive impression, and he is just 25 years old. With rookie Sony Michel joining the mix with Rex Burkhead and James White in the fold, too, someone will be out of a job.

Patriots | Jeremy Hill making an impression

Fri, 27 Apr 2018 20:10:46 -0700

New England Patriots RB Jeremy Hill has been making a positive impressive during the team's voluntary offseason program with his work and kindness.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is just 25 years old and on one-year deal looking to shine, but he'll have plenty of company in the backfield from veterans, as well as incoming rookie Sony Michel. While he is doing positive things in his first few weeks in Foxboro, his fantasy outlook is rather murky with a logjam in the backfield.

Patriots | Jeremy Hill must earn salary

Sun, 18 Mar 2018 18:27:05 -0700

New England Patriots RB Jeremy Hill's contract is for one year and $1.5 million with only his $150,000 signing bonus guaranteed.

Fantasy Tip: If Hill assumes the role of power back in New England's high-scoring offense, he could have RB2 potential because of ample scoring chances.

Patriots | Pats to ink Jeremy Hill

Fri, 16 Mar 2018 16:05:04 -0700

The New England Patriots are set to sign free-agent RB Jeremy Hill (Bengals), a source said Friday, March 16.

Fantasy Tip: Hill will essentially replace Dion Lewis, who was lost to the Tennessee Titans. After being lost in the shuffle in the Queen City with Joe Mixon taking the reins of the offense, Hill might see a rebound in fantasy appeal depending on his role. Former Bengals back Rex Burkhead emerged as a solid fantasy option in Foxboro last season. Perhaps Hill will also see a renaissance.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill plans to test market

Wed, 31 Jan 2018 14:09:17 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent RB Jeremy Hill has indicated that he plans to test the free-agent market this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Hill likely will not re-sign with the Bengals but may have a hard time finding a starting job this offseason. He likely will have to be part of a committee at running back with a team in 2018 and would only be a late-round option in fantasy drafts if he is not starting.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill likely gone

Fri, 19 Jan 2018 08:51:10 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is likely to leave via free agency, in the opinion of beat writers Jim Owczarski and Paul Dehner Jr.

Fantasy Tip: Hill will be entering his age-26 season and had 29 touchdowns through his first three seasons before taking a step back last season. He could be an RB2 in most situations.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill will have surgery

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 12:46:56 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) chose to have surgery on his injured ankle, which essentially forced the Bengals to place him on the Reserve/Injured list, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard comprise a two-man backfield in Cincinnati going forward. Mixon is clearly the more valuable running back to have despite his 3.0 yards per carry. Bernard merely provides depth in PPR leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill placed on IR

Sat, 11 Nov 2017 09:52:34 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Jeremy Hill (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Nov. 11.

Fantasy Tip: This decision was a little unexpected, as Hill was supposed to miss just one game. But this move all but clears the way for Joe Mixon to assume carrying duties. Mixon should be a flex pick in most formats, and if your league is deep enough to carry a handcuff selection then Giovani Bernard may not make a bad pickup.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to miss game

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 15:30:52 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 10, and has been ruled out for Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Mixon should receive most of the touches at running back with Hill still sidelined. He was limited to 46 total yards on 16 touches in Week 9 and is facing a solid Tennessee Titans defense. He should be considered a flex option in most fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Cincinnati's Week 10 injury report

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 12:13:35 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle), LB Kevin Minter (elbow) and DT Pat Sims (calf) were unable to practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 10 versus the Tennessee Titans. S Shawn Williams (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 10, for the second time in three days after being limited Thursday, Nov. 9, and is listed as doubtful. PK Randy Bullock (back) was limited Friday and is listed as questionable. WR Tyler Boyd (knee), LB Vontaze Burfict (thigh), DE Michael Johnson (back), CB Dre Kirkpatrick (illness), WR Brandon LaFell (hamstring) and DE Chris Smith (ankle) all practiced fully Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill misses practice again

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 15:48:03 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) missed practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't really matter whether or not he plays, as Hill isn't an option right now for pretty much any league. With no touchdowns on the year and very little yardage, the only back worth deploying out of Cincinnati is obviously Joe Mixon.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill a no-go to begin the week

Wed, 08 Nov 2017 11:31:50 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) did not take part in practice Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Hill suffered an injury during pregame warm-ups in Week 9 and was inactive as a result. He has yet to score a touchdown this season or accumulate more than 26 yards from scrimmage, so he's safe to leave on the waiver wire. Hill will almost certainly be allowed to hit free agency when his contract expires at the end of this season.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill out with injury

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 09:01:02 -0800

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) will not play in Week 9 because of an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Mixon should receive most of the carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars with Hill sidelined. Mixon has not posted great numbers so far this season but can still be a No. 2 running back or a flex option for owners this week since he should receive a solid amount of touches.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill, Gio Bernard are afterthoughts

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 18:08:59 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed four times for 11 yards in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts, and RB Giovani Bernard ran twice for just five yards. Neither player had a reception.

Fantasy Tip: Hill and Bernard have been pushed aside by rookie Joe Mixon, who totaled 14 touches with 109 yards, including a 67-yard reception. If you have been holding out hope that Hill or Bernard would eat into Mixon's workload, it isn't happening. Hill and Bernard cannot be trusted right now outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill, Gio Bernard do little

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 18:23:55 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed four times for 16 yards while RB Giovani Bernard rushed twice for two yards with two catches for 30 yards in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Hill and Bernard are well behind Joe Mixon for touches in the Cincinnati backfield, as the rookie had 15 rushes for 51 yards and a touchdown. As such, they're only worth using in the deepest of fantasy leagues right now. Cincinnati is off in Week 6 before traveling to Pittsburgh in Week 7.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill limited to 16 yards

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 13:21:20 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed for 16 yards on six carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has been passed by Joe Mixon on the depth chart and likely will continue to see limited touches in games. He should be avoided in all fantasy leagues unless he receives a bigger role.

Bengals | Joe Mixon receives majority of snaps

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 15:30:41 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon received 34 offensive snaps in the team's Week 3 game. RB Jeremy Hill received 14 snaps, while RB Giovani Bernard received 13 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Mixon will be the No. 1 running back for the Bengals moving forward, which makes him a valuable option for fantasy owners. He can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option most weeks. Hill can be considered a flex option against certain opponents in standard leagues, while Bernard can be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill has eight touches

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 19:55:20 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill finished with seven carries for 23 yards and one catch for six yards in a 27-24 loss to Green Bay Packers in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Hill saw 11 fewer carries than Joe Mixon, and he seems to be falling further behind the rookie. At this point, Hill is only worth stashing in case Mixon goes down with an injury.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill totals 19 yards vs. Texans

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 21:21:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill carried six times for 17 yards and caught a two-yard pass against the Houston Texans in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Make it two weeks in a row for Hill with exactly six carries and one reception -- hardly the stuff of fantasy relevance. Even with backfield mates Gio Bernard and Joe Mixon failing to distinguish themselves, Hill's prospects seem the bleakest of the bunch going forward. At best he can be stashed on your bench, but don't go out of your way to keep him there.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill totals seven touches

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:19:35 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed six times for 26 yards with one grab for minus-2 yards in Week 1 against Baltimore.

Fantasy Tip: Hill had a total of seven touches to eight total touches for Giovani Bernard and 11 touches for Joe Mixon. The distribution was fairly even among the triumvirate with Bernard perhaps the most attractive from a fantasy perspective. The Bengals host the Texans in Week 2 on Thursday night.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill a full participant

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 12:24:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 8, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Hill probably will be the starting running back against the Baltimore Ravens but will be sharing playing time with Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard. Hill may receive a majority of the carries but probably should be considered a flex option in most leagues.

Bengals | Cincinnati to utilize hot hand at RB

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 09:17:26 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Jeremy Hill, Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard are expected to begin the season in a committee, according to running backs coach Kyle Caskey. "You plan initially for it and try to put guys in the right places for what their talents can do and once the game gets going there is a flow to it. If a guy does have a little juice to him at that time then you stick with him," Caskey said.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals have a history of taking it easy on their rookie running backs, but it seems a bit ridiculous in this case, as Hill hasn't been very effective or efficient since his rookie season in 2014. Mixon is the superior talent, so owners need to remain patient. About the only near-certainties in Cincinnati's backfield are that Bernard is expected to see most of the third-down work and Hill is likely to get the bulk of the work at the goal line. It's up to Mixon to make it obvious he needs to be playing the rest of the time.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill fully practices again

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 12:28:02 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is the starter on paper for the Bengals, but keep an eye on how involved rookie Joe Mixon is. Mixon's talent and playmaking ability can't be ignored for long, but for now Hill is as serviceable flex play.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill goes through full practice

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 13:47:57 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) was able to take part in a full practice session on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Hill, who was surprisingly listed at the top of the team's depth chart earlier this week, is trying to hold off Giovani Bernard and rookie Joe Mixon for touches. It's likely Hill sees a healthy amount of carries, but head coach Marvin Lewis could also use a hot-hand approach. It's a tricky backfield fantasy situation in the Queen City, and one to avoid for DFS purposes.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill still listed as starter

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 11:30:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is listed as the No. 1 running back on the Bengals' official depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: This was the prevailing thought for the majority of the offseason. Hill was hampered by the injury bug last season, so the Bengals are giving him a chance to prove himself again. Giovani Bernard and Joe Mixon obviously limit Hill's fantasy ceiling, especially in PPR formats, but Hill is an under-the-radar late-round option for those who haven't drafted.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill injures ankle

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 14:56:08 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 27, and will not return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check for an update on Hill's status after the game to see if he is in danger of missing any regular season games. He may be the starting running back in 2017 but will have to share snaps with Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard. Hill could be a No. 3 or No. 4 running back in most leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to start all season?

Thu, 10 Aug 2017 10:34:22 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will start all season unless he's injured or "absolutely terrible," in the opinion of The Cincinnati Enquirer's Jim Owczarski. Hill was listed as the starting running back on the Bengals' initial depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: There's lots of smoke blowing this time of year. It remains to be seen whether or not Cincinnati is swirling in smoke or if the air is the clear. Joe Mixon is the most talented and valuable running back on the Bengals' roster, but if Cincinnati wants to die on Hill's hill then so be it. For now, Hill provides late-round value, while Mixon remains an RB2 candidate.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill listed as starter

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 11:31:03 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is listed with the first-team offense on the Bengals' initial depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: There has been growing speculation that Hill would be the Week 1 starter for the Bengals. Joe Mixon is expected to be hot on his heels, though, and has the most fantasy upside of any Bengal back. As such, Hill is more of a mid- to late-round flex option.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to be the Week 1 starter?

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 09:52:44 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will likely exit training camp as the starting running back over Joe Mixon if history is any indication, according to ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon has been creating buzz virtually from the time he was drafted, but the Bengals do have some extensive history of making their rookies "earn it," so Hill serving as a nominal starter throughout September is a distinct possibility. It's a reminder Mixon has nothing locked up yet, even if he is the overwhelming favorite to lead the backfield in touches. The rookie should be considered a midrange fantasy RB2 with RB1 upside if he is able to become the featured back at any point this season.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to remain involved

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 18:35:44 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is "going to get some carries" and will remain a factor near the goal line, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Fantasy Tip: The assumption is that Joe Mixon will eventually take control of Cincinnati's backfield, but Hill could have something to say about that. Mixon is without a doubt the better long-term option, but Hill could still be a flex play this season.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill wants more efficiency

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 19:56:20 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill said his goal for next season is to make his "yards per carry higher" and to break more tackles.

Fantasy Tip: After a couple of down years, Hill could see a reduction in carries. However, he should still receive most of the work around the goal line and at least remain a quality flex option.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to serve as backup?

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 17:40:10 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will likely serve as the backup running back and goal-line specialist in 2017, according to beat writer Paul Dehner Jr.

Fantasy Tip: Hill's value would take a hit if he becomes the backup, but as long as he is handling carries around the goal line, he will remain a viable flex option for fantasy owners.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill won't play in Week 17

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 08:47:40 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) is inactive for Week 17's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 30, and had been listed as questionable on the injury report. He will finish the season with 839 rushing yards, 174 receiving yards and nine touchdowns through 15 games. Rex Burkhead is expected to see the bulk of the carries for the Bengals this afternoon and is worthy of consideration as a flex option in many leagues.

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 08:42:48 -0800

Bengals | Jeremy Hill listed as questionable

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 13:38:05 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hill probably will be a game-time decision, so owners will need to check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. He probably would be limited if he plays, so owners may want to look for healthier options to use and avoid Hill. Rex Burkhead would receive most of the work if Hill is ruled out and could be a flex option in leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill unlikely to play

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 20:36:23 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) is unlikely to play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Rex Burkhead would likely lead the backfield if Hill sits, but he would still just be a flex option against a stout Baltimore run defense.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill does not practice

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 12:17:19 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Hill's status for Week 17 is uncertain at this point, but owners will know more about his availability after practice Friday, Dec. 30. Hill can be a No. 2 running back if he plays, but owners should have other options in case he is ruled out.

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 13:16:32 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was able to play in Week 16 despite the injury but was limited to eight yards on seven carries. Owners should check on his status later in the week but he should be considered a No. 2 running back if he is active.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill active for SNF

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 16:03:12 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) is active for the Week 16 game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Hill will be a busy guy in the Cincinnati offense, as the Houston pass defense is strong and their run defense is simply mediocre. That's good for Hill's fantasy prospects.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill expected to play

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 20:01:09 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) is listed as questionable to face the Houston Texans in Week 16, but he is expected to play, according to a team source.

Fantasy Tip: The Texans have a stout defense, but Hill's heavy workload and ability to find the end zone will keep him in the RB2 mix.

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 13:44:10 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Hill should be on track to play in Week 16 after having no restrictions during practice Friday, but owners should check on the inactive list to make sure of his status. He will continue to receive most of the work at running back and can be a No. 2 running back in leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill returns to practice

Thu, 22 Dec 2016 19:37:48 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) returned to practice and was a limited participant Thursday, Dec. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Hill hasn't been an efficient runner, but he has nine touchdowns and has scored in three straight games. His ability to reach the end zone with regularity keeps him in the RB2 conversation in Week 16.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill does not practice

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 15:04:35 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was banged up during the team's Week 15 game but was able to return to the game, so owners should monitor the situation during the week. Hill has received most of the work at running back and should be a No. 2 running back if he plays.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill scores in loss

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 15:22:21 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill ran 20 times for 43 yards and scored a touchdown in a 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Hill and Rex Burkhead are sort of forming a RB committee in the final couple weeks, so the best thing to do is either avoid this group entirely or make sure both are in your lineup. Considering the Bengals' struggles this season, lean toward starting neither.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill primed for big game?

Sat, 10 Dec 2016 17:56:36 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill ran for a career-high 168 yards against the Browns earlier this year, and he is one of six Bengals running backs to top 100 yards against the Browns since 1999.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has really struggled in recent weeks, but a matchup against a Cleveland defense allowing the second-most rushing yards should put him squarely in the RB2 mix in Week 14.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill mostly bottled up

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 20:31:06 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed 23 times for just 33 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also had two grabs for 12 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was outrushed by Rex Burkhead, as the starter's longest rush was just seven yards. Still, he was able to salvage the stat line with the touchdown. He will have much better results in Week 14 against a poor Cleveland Browns rush defense.
