Bengals | RB tandem might be asked to do more

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 21:46:14 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill might be asked to do more in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers if WR A.J. Green (toe) is unable to play. "Never out of weapons," offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said Wednesday, Oct. 8. "We'll put somebody else up in there and let's go."

Bengals | Giovani Bernard-Jeremy Hill tandem impressing

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 11:11:48 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill have formed an impressive backfield tandem under offensive coordinator Hue Jackson so far after two games. Bernard is on pace for 328 carries and Hill is on pace for 152. Bernard and Hill combined for 164 yards on 42 carries in the Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons. "Both guys are showing they can not only run it, but they also have the ability to catch it and they not only can catch it, but they can make runs after the catch. Their creativity is a key factor in what's been going on. When you have weapons where anytime a guy can get the ball and they can take it to the house, it makes you feel good," former running backs coach Jim Anderson said.

Fantasy Tip: Bernard and Hill could both have big days again in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans defense. Bernard is the lead back and will cost more at FantasyScore ($7,900; 15.8% of cap), which will make Hill ($5,500) more of a bargain most weeks.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill finding stride

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 20:05:04 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is on pace for a total of 152 carries, while RB Giovani Bernard is on pace for 328 carries. The most runs in franchise history by two backs is 405, set in 2000. Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson isn't outing any particular numbers out there for carries, and said it goes from series to series who will see the ball. He said that is why he calls plays from the sidelines, so he can sense the ebb and flow of the game.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has emerged as a solid low-end RB2 or flex play in weekly leagues, and he is a solid mid-level option in FantasyScore daily play as well. While he sees a fraction of the carries as Bernard, he also turns in great production when given the chance.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill sees limited work

Mon, 08 Sep 2014 08:50:21 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill only played 10 offensive snaps in Week 1. RB Giovani Bernard played 57 snaps in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Hill was expected to be used more and could be in the future. However, he's a questionable flex option at this point. Bernard is a mid-to-low RB1 option at the right price on FantasyScore.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill improving run style

Thu, 04 Sep 2014 20:43:59 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill said he has learned to be more patient and to run lower to the ground in order to avoid big hits and remain fresh late in games. "That's why you can't let guys just get clean, flush shots on you," Hill said. "You have to deliver the blow to them before they do it to you."

Fantasy Tip: He will split carries with Giovani Bernard, but Hill has established himself as the team's power back and should receive a bulk of the caries around the goal line. At his $4,300 salary (8.6% of cap), Hill offers a lot of upside for the price, and the money you save can be used to load up your roster at other positions.

Bengals | Giovani Bernard to be fed more

Thu, 04 Sep 2014 07:18:29 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard will likely see more touches than RB Jeremy Hill in Week 1, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that this question was even asked bodes well for Hill. Bernard checks in at $6,700 on FantasyScore as a weak RB1 this weekend in Baltimore. Hill is priced at $4,300, and he is an interesting flex option for bargain shoppers this week.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill update

Thu, 28 Aug 2014 20:43:15 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (elbow) returned to the team's preseason finale Thursday, Aug. 28, after being evaluated in the locker room at halftime. He finished the game with 20 carries for 90 yards and six catches for 70 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Giovani Bernard is the starter, but Hill should see plenty of touches as the team's power back, including a majority of the touches near the goal line. He is worth a bench spot on fantasy rosters because of his touchdown potential, and depending on how his role develops, he could end up being a serviceable flex option in deeper leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill injured

Thu, 28 Aug 2014 17:25:58 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (elbow) left the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 28, with a right elbow injury and is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Hill's injury is definitely worth monitoring. He is slated to be the team's power back and should be in line for plenty of touches around the goal line, but if the injury forces him to miss time, Giovani Bernard would probably see an increased workload and venture into RB1 territory.

Fri, 22 Aug 2014 07:29:38 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill could see some carries with the first-team offense in the third preseason game Sunday, Aug. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is a solid RB4, and he could force the team's hand to utilize him more in the regular season if he performs well in this game.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill could see solid work

Thu, 07 Aug 2014 05:11:19 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will see 10 to 15 carries a game in the opinion of The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. Dehner doesn't believe RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis has a chance to beat out Hill for the short-yardage role.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is a great RB4 with upside right now.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill could have big role in running game

Wed, 16 Jul 2014 11:20:34 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill could split carries with RB Giovani Bernard this upcoming season and receive over 200 carries, in the opinion of Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Hill will have a solid role in the offense even though he will not be a starter. Most owners should view Hill as more of No. 4 running back with upside entering drafts, but Hill will have more value than just a handcuff to Bernard.

Bengals | Want ball-possession offense

Thu, 26 Jun 2014 05:32:43 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals beat writer Geoff Hobson believes Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson wants to have a more ball-possession offense that runs it more but sets up more explosive passes efficiently. That would mean fewer pass plays, but more potential big plays off of play-action.

Fantasy Tip: Giovani Bernard is going to have to prove that he can run the ball effectively 15-20 times in order for the play-action to work. Jeremy Hill will also be a factor in third-and-short situations that could free up A.J. Green and Marvin Jones downfield. Andy Dalton looks to be in optimal fantasy position this year in his contract year as a low-range QB1.

Mon, 09 Jun 2014 16:04:20 -0700

Bengals | Jeremy Hill fits well

Tue, 27 May 2014 07:02:43 -0700

The Cincinnati Bengals like the way RB Jeremy Hill ran against eight- and nine-man boxes in college. He'll complement Giovani Bernard in that regard.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is a nice late-round flier and could make an impact in TD-heavy leagues.

Bengals | Picking up the pace offensively

Thu, 22 May 2014 14:38:38 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson wants to implement an up-tempo offense and intends to be heavily committed to the running game to set up the pass. Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth said the team is planning to get as many snaps in as they can.

Fantasy Tip: A more conservative offensive approach will improve the value of Cincy's running backs, with Giovani Bernard standing to have the best fantasy season. BenJarvus Green-Ellis shouldn't be written off just yet, since rookie Jeremy Hill having a fantasy-worthy role isn't a lock. Andy Dalton should become more efficient, but that isn't necessarily a good thing for fantasy value. Ultimately, WR A.J. Green remains the only weapon with consistent appeal.

Bengals | Cutting BenJarvus Green-Ellis not necessarily done deal

Sat, 17 May 2014 19:20:21 -0700

Many assume that the Cincinnati Bengals drafting of RB Jeremy Hill spelled the end for RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, but offensive coordinator Hue Jackson was adamant last week that Hill's selection had no bearing on Green-Ellis' status.

Sun, 11 May 2014 18:23:36 -0700
