Bears | Ka'Deem Carey misses practice

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 15:41:55 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Carey probably will be able to play in Week 10 as long as he can recover from his illness. He has received some carries over the last few weeks but can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey tallies 57 total yards

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 21:59:55 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey looked like the team's best option in the backfield for the second straight week, rushing 10 times for 48 yards while adding a nine-yard catch on his only target.

Fantasy Tip: Carey was perhaps the lone bright spot for Chicago, showing some burst and explosion against one of the league's better run defenses. He out-touched starter Jordan Howard 11-7 and produced 35 more total yards. While neither player is worth using in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings, it is becoming clear the Bears are moving back toward a backfield committee again.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey works into a split?

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 23:04:31 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) ran nine times for 50 yards, splitting time with RB Jordan Howard in the Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team said in the offseason they would use a running back by committee approach, rolling with the hot hand, and that's what they did.

Fantasy Tip: Carey has plenty of talent, and he outperformed Howard who was coming off two 100-yard rushing games. Carey is worth stashing away on reserve if you need help at the running backs position, or if you're a nervous Howard owner. RBBCs are not a favorite of fantasy owners, and it looks like one is shaping up in the Windy City.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey misses opportunity

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 20:20:44 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) ran just once for two yards in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts and he had one catch for 15 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Carey had a chance to fill in for Jeremy Langford when he went down, but Carey suffered a hamstring injury and allowed Jordan Howard to come on. Howard took advantage of the situation and is now starring, while Carey is relegated to a minor role now that he is back. He has no fantasy appeal as long as Howard is running well.

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 16:27:53 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) is inactive for the Week 3 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: With Carey on the mend it will be rookie Jordan Howard getting a golden opportunity behind Jeremy Langford, and perhaps ahead of Langford if he continues to struggle. It's a situation worth monitoring closely for fantasy owners.

Bears | Hot RB will be leaned on in Chicago

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 07:39:50 -0700

Updating previous reports, Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford, RB Ka'Deem Carey, RB Jordan Howard and RB Jacquizz Rodgers will be part of a committee in the backfield, and head coach John Fox plans to limit their workloads and ride the hot hand. The team wants Langford to run with a wider base and gain more yards after contact. Carey needs to build on his toughness and become a more complete back. Both figure to be part of the committee approach. Howard adds a bruiser skill set in short-yardage and goal line situations.

Fantasy Tip: The reporter scribed that it "promises to be hell for fantasy football owners." Langford figures to be the leader of the pack, but he's not someone you can depend on week to week unless he takes off from the gate. He's a high-end RB3 in fantasy that could be maligned to good matchups for a flex play. Carey and Howard are RB5 projects that you can grab in hopes that they become said hot hand. Rodgers has a ways to go before he's an intriguing chip in fantasy with three backs possibly ahead of him.

Bears | Chicago to use committee backfield

Fri, 20 May 2016 11:23:24 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford will battle with RBs Jordan Howard, Ka'Deem Carey and Jacquizz Rodgers for touches in a crowded backfield during offseason workouts. Head coach John Fox is intent on running with a committee approach after the departure of RB Matt Forte. Langford has a leg up after scoring seven touchdowns in his rookie season. However, he had only 3.6 yards per carry and 1.13 yards after contact, which ranked second to last out of 47 players with 100 carries, according to ESPN Stats and Information. Langford must also work on improving his hands after struggling with drops in 2015. Howard's bruising style appeals to the team as a complement to Langford's speed. Carey is the only back that wasn't acquired by the current coaching staff, and he's being pushed to become more versatile and to play better on third downs. Rodgers it the veteran and could be trusted more than any other rusher on third downs early in the year.

Fantasy Tip: This makes things a little frustrating for fantasy owners, and it could be a fluid situation in terms of touches, at least early in the year. Langford has the leg up and should be the first back of this group drafted in fantasy leagues. He has more appeal in PPR formats as an RB3. Howard is a wildcard that could vulture touchdowns from Langford and is an RB5 flyer in standard-scoring leagues. Carey and Rodgers would likely need an injury to see significant touches and are mainly handcuffs.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey in the mix

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 10:06:27 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey is liked by head coach John Fox, and the team appears thrilled about the duo of Carey and RB Jeremy Langford at running back.

Fantasy Tip: Carey has a 79-317-2 (4.0 yard per rush) line for his career and is shaping up to be in the RB4 conversation if the team is this high on him. Langford is likely ahead of him, though.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey shows what he can do

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 18:34:54 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey rushed seven times for 16 yards and a touchdown in the Week 16 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he also had a touchdown reception on a one-yard grab.

Fantasy Tip: Carey was a prolific rusher at the University of Arizona, but with the likes of Matt Forte and Jeremy Langford on the roster, he hasn't had much of a chance to show what he can do. Perhaps down the stretch he is auditioning for a job, either in Chicago, or elsewhere. Perhaps the emergence of Langford and Carey could signal the end of Forte in Chicago. It will be an interesting offseason for the Bears.

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 11:48:58 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (knee) and RB Ka'Deem Carey (head) were ruled out for Week 12 Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Marquess Wilson ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) had four grabs for 102 yards last week and is a low-end flyer against the Green Bay Packers on FantasyScore.

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 13:46:19 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (knee) and RB Ka'Deem Carey (head) did not practice for the second straight day Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Royal ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) hasn't played since Nov. 1 and seems unlikely to suit up on the short week. You can avoid him everywhere. Carey ($2,000) wouldn't even be a viable daily pick on Thanksgiving if he were to be active with Matt Forte expected to return from injury.

Bears | Three Bears miss practice Monday

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 13:43:39 -0800

Chicago Bears TE Martellus Bennett (ribs), RB Ka'Deem Carey (head) and WR Eddie Royal (knee) did not practice Monday, Nov. 23. The Bears didn't actually practice Monday, so the designations are an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: With a short week on tap, all three players are risky on FantasyScore. We don't expect Royal or Carey to play at all. Bennett is trickier, and you'll have to keep a close eye on his progress leading up to Thursday. If he does play, he's not a bad FantasyScore selection against a Packers team allowing the seventh-most PPR fantasy points (15.9) to tight ends per game this year.

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 21:50:28 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey ran seven times for 28 yards in the Week 9 game against the San Diego Chargers Monday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Carey ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) saw his first meaningful work of the season with Matt Forte on the shelf. Look for Carey to serve as a fill-in behind Jeremy Langford in Week 10 if Matt Forte is unable to start.

Chicago Bears RB Shaun Draughn was praised for his pass-catching ability by head coach Marc Trestman, who said that Draughn and rookie RB Ka'Deem Carey are competing for the primary backup job behind RB Matt Forte.

Fantasy Tip: Carey came into camp with more hype after starring at the University of Arizona, but it's Draughn who appears to have a leg up for the job right now. It would take just one injury to Forte to give both Carey and Draughn fantasy relevance.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey expects significant role

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey said he expects to receive a good amount of carries this season. "They expect me to go out there and play as my first time behind [RB Matt Forte], and go out there and do what I do best," Carey said.

Fantasy Tip: Carey will be behind Forte on the depth chart but should have a solid role on offense this upcoming season. Owners should consider Carey as a late-round flier or a handcuff to Forte during drafts.
