Bears | Ka'Deem Carey unable to go

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 16:27:53 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) is inactive for the Week 3 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: With Carey on the mend it will be rookie Jordan Howard getting a golden opportunity behind Jeremy Langford, and perhaps ahead of Langford if he continues to struggle. It's a situation worth monitoring closely for fantasy owners.

Bears | Hot RB will be leaned on in Chicago

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 07:39:50 -0700

Updating previous reports, Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford, RB Ka'Deem Carey, RB Jordan Howard and RB Jacquizz Rodgers will be part of a committee in the backfield, and head coach John Fox plans to limit their workloads and ride the hot hand. The team wants Langford to run with a wider base and gain more yards after contact. Carey needs to build on his toughness and become a more complete back. Both figure to be part of the committee approach. Howard adds a bruiser skill set in short-yardage and goal line situations.

Fantasy Tip: The reporter scribed that it "promises to be hell for fantasy football owners." Langford figures to be the leader of the pack, but he's not someone you can depend on week to week unless he takes off from the gate. He's a high-end RB3 in fantasy that could be maligned to good matchups for a flex play. Carey and Howard are RB5 projects that you can grab in hopes that they become said hot hand. Rodgers has a ways to go before he's an intriguing chip in fantasy with three backs possibly ahead of him.

Bears | Chicago to use committee backfield

Fri, 20 May 2016 11:23:24 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford will battle with RBs Jordan Howard, Ka'Deem Carey and Jacquizz Rodgers for touches in a crowded backfield during offseason workouts. Head coach John Fox is intent on running with a committee approach after the departure of RB Matt Forte. Langford has a leg up after scoring seven touchdowns in his rookie season. However, he had only 3.6 yards per carry and 1.13 yards after contact, which ranked second to last out of 47 players with 100 carries, according to ESPN Stats and Information. Langford must also work on improving his hands after struggling with drops in 2015. Howard's bruising style appeals to the team as a complement to Langford's speed. Carey is the only back that wasn't acquired by the current coaching staff, and he's being pushed to become more versatile and to play better on third downs. Rodgers it the veteran and could be trusted more than any other rusher on third downs early in the year.

Fantasy Tip: This makes things a little frustrating for fantasy owners, and it could be a fluid situation in terms of touches, at least early in the year. Langford has the leg up and should be the first back of this group drafted in fantasy leagues. He has more appeal in PPR formats as an RB3. Howard is a wildcard that could vulture touchdowns from Langford and is an RB5 flyer in standard-scoring leagues. Carey and Rodgers would likely need an injury to see significant touches and are mainly handcuffs.
