Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin ready to practice

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 15:05:16 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) has been cleared to participate in practice, but head coach Ron Rivera said Benjamin likely will be eased back into practice.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Benjamin will receive much playing time during the preseason, but he should be fine for the start of the regular season. Benjamin should be one of the top targets for Cam Newton this season and will be a weekly starting option for fantasy owners.

Panthers | Looking for Devin Funchess to step up

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 22:58:36 -0700

The Carolina Panthers hope WR Devin Funchess can pick up where he left off at the end of the regular season in 2015. If he can secure the starting job opposite WR Kelvin Benjamin, the team would have an impressive three-headed monster with TE Greg Olsen.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess has a ton of drops last season, as he appeared overwhelmed when thrust into a meaningful role in his rookie season. If he can stay healthy, avoid the drops and make further progress, he might be a worthwhile WR3/4 or flex play in most leagues of 12 or more teams.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin, Luke Kuechly on the side

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 07:19:49 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) and LB Luke Kuechly (shoulder) are working on the side Tuesday, June 14. Benjamin is working back from a torn ACL and should be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: There is some risk with Benjamin coming back from injury, but he'll be in the upper echelon of WR2 territory in fantasy if he's at full health.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin moving well

Tue, 31 May 2016 07:18:13 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is moving around well during organized team activities, and it doesn't look at all like he had surgery last season on his knee, in the opinion of ESPN.com's David Newton.

Fantasy Tip: Many fantasy owners may be wary of Benjamin after he missed all of last year after tearing the ACL in his knee. But don't forget he caught 73 passes for 1,0008 yards and nine scores in his rookie year in 2014. Assuming he's fully healthy, he'll be Cam Newton's go-to target and should be firmly in WR territory on draft day.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin back at practice

Thu, 26 May 2016 10:51:08 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is back at practice in organized team activities Thursday, May 26, for the first time since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in training camp last year. Carolina is likely to ease him back into work, though, after he totaled 1,008 receiving yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin's stellar rookie season might make him a bit overvalued going into 2016 drafts. It might take him a while to get back into the flow after a full year off, but his physical abilities leap off the page. Cam Newton has his go-to target back. Consider Benjamin a solid No. 2 wide receiver investment.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin should be ready for camp

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 10:49:35 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) should be a full participant when training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin missed the entire 2015 season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament but should be ready for 2016. Benjamin should be one of the main targets for Cam Newton and would be a solid No. 2 wide receiver for fantasy owners.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin will be limited in OTAs

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 08:29:42 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) will participate in organized team activities, but he'll be limited.

Fantasy Tip: After you saw what Carolina did on offense last season (Ted Ginn had 10 touchdowns), you can only imagine what a healthy Benjamin could have done. Benjamin will be in that low-end WR1/high-end WR2 area, and obviously, he'd be a safer WR2.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin progressing in rehab

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 16:22:53 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is doing some light running and cutting as he continues his recovery from a torn left ACL.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps most promisingly, Benjamin has maintained his playing weight of 238 pounds after arriving at camp a bit overweight last season. Even though Cam Newton was able to enjoy a MVP season without his top receiver from 2015, the Super Bowl provided more than enough proof that he needs more than Greg Olsen. Benjamin was a top-20 fantasy receiver as a rookie in 2014 and should be expected to be a high-end WR2 again in 2016.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin does light work

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 09:34:41 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did some light work in practice Friday, Jan. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is four months removed from ACL repair surgery and should be ready for training camp. He'll be a WR2 consideration on draft day.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin put on IR

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 12:06:47 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Devin Funchess and Greg Olsen are the main beneficiaries of Benjamin's absence. Jerricho Cotchery and Corey Brown should also see increased roles. Funchess now has low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 potential. Olsen should be considered a top-three fantasy tight end. Cotchery and Brown are safer to draft for depth, but could be viewed as deep sleepers.
