Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin should be ready for camp

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 10:49:35 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) should be a full participant when training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin missed the entire 2015 season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament but should be ready for 2016. Benjamin should be one of the main targets for Cam Newton and would be a solid No. 2 wide receiver for fantasy owners.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin will be limited in OTAs

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 08:29:42 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) will participate in organized team activities, but he'll be limited.

Fantasy Tip: After you saw what Carolina did on offense last season (Ted Ginn had 10 touchdowns), you can only imagine what a healthy Benjamin could have done. Benjamin will be in that low-end WR1/high-end WR2 area, and obviously, he'd be a safer WR2.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin progressing in rehab

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 16:22:53 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is doing some light running and cutting as he continues his recovery from a torn left ACL.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps most promisingly, Benjamin has maintained his playing weight of 238 pounds after arriving at camp a bit overweight last season. Even though Cam Newton was able to enjoy a MVP season without his top receiver from 2015, the Super Bowl provided more than enough proof that he needs more than Greg Olsen. Benjamin was a top-20 fantasy receiver as a rookie in 2014 and should be expected to be a high-end WR2 again in 2016.

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 09:34:41 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did some light work in practice Friday, Jan. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is four months removed from ACL repair surgery and should be ready for training camp. He'll be a WR2 consideration on draft day.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin put on IR

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 12:06:47 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Devin Funchess and Greg Olsen are the main beneficiaries of Benjamin's absence. Jerricho Cotchery and Corey Brown should also see increased roles. Funchess now has low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 potential. Olsen should be considered a top-three fantasy tight end. Cotchery and Brown are safer to draft for depth, but could be viewed as deep sleepers.

Panthers | Devin Funchess the new No. 1?

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 18:53:31 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess is the leading candidate to replace WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) as the X receiver, and head coach Ron Rivera said Funchess' high football IG will ease the transition.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess should see an uptick in targets with Benjamin sidelined, especially in the red zone where he can use his size advantage. Any rookie is going to be inconsistent, but Funchess shoud be a serviceable WR3.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin was big deep threat

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 14:50:25 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) led the Panthers with eight catches on throws over 20 yards downfield last year. The rest of the team had six such catches combined. Benjamin is out for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: There's no question the Panthers have lost their best wide receiver. Benjamin opened up the field for Carolina and was a big red-zone threat. Again, Devin Funchess' value increases the most with the loss of Benjamin. Jerrico Cotcher, Ted Ginn Jr. and Philly Brown shouldn't be overlooked, however.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin has torn ACL

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 14:39:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) tore his anterior cruciate ligament Wednesday, Aug. 19. He is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Fantasy Tip: This is a huge blow for the Panthers, and a decent blow for Cam Newton's fantasy value, too. Devin Funchess is probably the biggest benefactor with Benjamin out. Jerricho Cotchery, Philly Brown and Ted Ginn Jr. all have increased value as well. Funchess should now be viewed as a low-end WR3 to high-end WR4. Cotchery, Brown and Ginn have lower value, but are still worth drafting or adding to your fantasy roster(s).

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin has sprained knee

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 08:21:27 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was unofficially diagnosed with a sprained left knee. He'll have an MRI.

Fantasy Tip: A knee sprain could have him back within a matter of weeks. However, an MRI will give him a clearer outlook. As it stands, if he misses the first couple of weeks, he falls to a low-end WR2.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin carted off

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 07:02:39 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (leg) was carted off at practice Wednesday, Aug. 19, with a left leg injury. Benjamin cut towards the sideline while running a route and went down. He wasn't able to put weight on the leg.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was a solid WR2 in fantasy, but he has been dogged by conditioning issues and a slew of injuries. Keep an eye on his status as it's too early to speculate.
