Cardinals | Troy Niklas seeing more time

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 16:46:42 -0800

Arizona Cardinals TE Troy Niklas, who had two catches for 12 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 8 win over the Cleveland Browns, has been seeing more playing time with TE Darren Fells (shoulder) injured. However, most of Niklas' time on the field has been used as a blocker.

Fantasy Tip: Niklas could become more of a red zone weapon if Fells misses more time, but it's unlikely that he'll be used as anything more than a blocker for most of the time as the season progresses. Ignore Niklas for now.

Cardinals | Troy Niklas scores twice

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 17:19:58 -0800

Arizona Cardinals TE Troy Niklas had two catches for 12 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-20 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Niklas ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) entered the game with one catch for 13 yards, so unless he continues to earn looks in the red zone, consider this performance a fluke.

Cardinals | Darren Fells the top tight end for AZ

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 16:55:32 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells is listed as the starting tight end on the Cardinals' depth chart. TE Troy Niklas is listed as his backup.

Fantasy Tip: Fells impressed head coach Bruce Arians this offseason. Niklas and Jermaine Gresham have been dealing with injuries, so the starting job was Fells' for the taking. It would be best to wait a week or two to see how Fells is used before considering him for your FantasyScore lineups.

Cardinals | Troy Niklas ready to practice

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 11:15:53 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Troy Niklas (hamstring) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 3. He is expected to be limited during his first few practices.

Fantasy Tip: Niklas could compete for the starting tight end job during training camp but will not be the favorite for the job. Niklas probably should be avoided during drafts, but he could be a waiver wire option if he sees solid playing time.

Arizona Cardinals TE Troy Niklas (hamstring) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals are hurting at tight end right now, literally, with Niklas and Jermaine Gresham both on PUP. Neither is worth drafting as your starting fantasy tight end. Keep tabs on their progress as training camp begins.

Cardinals | Troy Niklas due for big year?

Tue, 05 May 2015 14:49:15 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Troy Niklas has much expected from him this season, especially following the retirement of TE John Carlson.

Fantasy Tip: Niklas played in just seven games in 2014 due to a broken hand and hernia surgery. He should be the Cardinals No. 1 tight end heading into offseason activities with Carlson now out of the picture. If he can stay healthy, Niklas has TE2 potential.

Cardinals | John Carlson tops TE depth chart

Wed, 06 Aug 2014 17:06:13 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE John Carlson tops the team's first depth chart of the preseason, with TEs Rob Housler and Troy Niklas listed as the top backups. TEs Darren Fells and Andre Hardy are listed on the third-team offense.

Fantasy Tip: Even as the starter, the tight end isn't a huge cog in the Arizona offense. If Carlson hangs onto the starting job, he would still only be worth a look as a backup fantasy option or a potential starter when you need a bye-week replacement.

Cardinals | John Carlson impressing

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 13:14:48 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE John Carlson has been the tight end who impressed the most during organized team activities and minicamp. Head coach Bruce Arians complimented Carlson's ability to pick up the system quickly, his speed and hands, and he considers Carlson an adequate blocker. Arians wants physical tight ends who are capable blockers. Carlson will compete for targets with TEs Rob Housler, Jake Ballard and Troy Niklas (hand).

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals tight end corps has too many options to be able to rely on any of them as a weekly fantasy option, at least at this point.

Fri, 09 May 2014 17:35:22 -0700

The Arizona Cardinals selected Notre Dame TE Troy Niklas with the 52nd overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
