Rams | Tre Mason productive in first half

Sun, 30 Nov 2014 11:50:02 -0800

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown on six carries in the first half of the team's Week 13 game.

Fantasy Tip: Mason has become the team's main running back but has not posted great numbers up to this point. Mason should continue to receive most of the carries and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Rams | Tre Mason hits century mark

Sun, 16 Nov 2014 18:00:38 -0800

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason carried 29 times for 113 yards in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos, the most against the Broncos rush defense this season. It was Mason's first career 100-yard rushing game, too.

Fantasy Tip: Mason has emerged from a pack of running backs to seize the top job in St. Louis. He is a bona fide No. 2 RB in FantasyScore, and he comes with a cheaper price tag than some of the bigger names on the board.

Rams | Tre Mason starts in Week 10

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 15:25:24 -0800

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason made the start in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Mason has ascended to the top of the depth chart in St. Louis and has emerged as a decent RB2 or flex play in FantasyScore.

Rams | Tre Mason not named starter

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 15:48:04 -0800

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason received the start in Week 9, but head coach Jeff Fisher is not ready to name Mason as the team's starting running back.

Fantasy Tip: Mason received most of the work at running back in Week 9 and probably will continue to see most of the snaps. Mason should be at least a flex option most weeks.

Rams | St. Louis to stick with one RB?

Sat, 01 Nov 2014 12:30:50 -0700

St. Louis Rams RBs Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason have split repetitions in the Rams' backfield this year, but head coach Jeff Fisher hinted that the team could stick with one guy going forward, though he didn't indicate who that would be.

Fantasy Tip: Mason has performed the best on the ground so far this year while Cunningham has done well in the passing game. Stacy has seen a relegated role of late, so he may end up being the odd man out. For now, it's best to avoid all of them.

Rams | Rams split RB snaps evenly in Week 8

Mon, 27 Oct 2014 13:10:29 -0700

St. Louis Rams RBs Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham each were on the field for 18 snaps in Week 8. RB Zac Stacy received 15 snaps during the game.

Fantasy Tip: None of the running backs had big offensive games in Week 8, so they all probably will continue to receive some playing time moving forward. Mason is still probably the most valuable running back in terms of fantasy but should be a matchup play.

Rams | Zac Stacy could remain a factor

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 07:53:02 -0700

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy, who didn't have a touch in Week 7, could remain a factor in the backfield in Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Earlier in the week, head coach Jeff Fisher said Stacy could have 25 carries Sunday, Oct. 26. However, the team is likely to give RB Tre Mason every opportunity to develop the hot hand this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Stacy ($3,200; 6.4% of your cap) has a tantalizing price tag on FantasyScore if he has a large enough role this weekend. Mason ($4,900; 9.8%) is a higher-priced flex option. Benny Cunningham ($3,600; 7.2%) should also be in the mix. This is likely to be a weekly question mark for the foreseeable future.

Rams | Tre Mason could be top RB option

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 12:08:10 -0700

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason could be the top candidate for a majority of carries since he is averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Mason rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries in Week 7 and received most of the carries because he had the hot hand, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. RB Zac Stacy was announced the starter for Week 7 but only played one snap. RB Benny Cunningham only rushed for three yards during the game. Stacy is averaging 3.93 yards per carry this season, while Cunningham is averaging 3.78 yards per carry.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Mason probably will receive most of the work at running back for the time being. Mason costs $4,900 on FantasyScore and could be a nice flex option for owners.

Rams | Zac Stacy nearly non-existent

Sun, 19 Oct 2014 14:01:46 -0700

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy did not have any touches in the Week 7 game against the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams used a combination of RBs Tre Mason, who had 85 rushing yards and a touchdown, and Benny Cunningham, who led the team with 46 receiving yards and a score.

Fantasy Tip: Stacy actually played just one total snap into the third quarter, and clearly has fallen out of favor in St. Louis. He is worth keeping on a roster in yearly leagues, but FantasyScore won't want to go near him going forward.

Rams | Tre Mason makes most of chance

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 21:34:43 -0700

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason was active last week for the first time all season, and he played nine snaps with six touches. He finished with five carries for 40 yards and a reception for 12 yards. He was active for the first time because RB Chase Reynolds (hip) was inactive due to injury. Mason is expected to join RBs Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham in a running-back-by-committee approach. "Well, early in the game we try to get guys multiple touches," offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said Friday, Oct. 17. "That's part of the deal. Then we try to go with the hot hand late in the game. Most places that I've been that have really good running games, they had the people to spread the ball around."

Fantasy Tip: Mason isn't quite ready for FantasyScore usage just yet, even at a tempting $3,000 salary (or 6.0 percent of the cap). He won't see nearly enough touches. However, monitor the situation, and if he sees an increase over his six touches in Week 6, he might be worth using down the road. Stacy $5,400 (or 10.8 percent of the cap) is probably the best fantasy bet, but he is a bit overpriced considering how crowded the backfield is.
