Saints | Willie Snead questionable for Week 3

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 13:27:25 -0700

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 24, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Snead will be a risky option for owners this week since he will be a game-time decision and plays on Monday Night Football. Owners may want to consider other options because there will not be many other options available Monday, Sept. 26, if he is ruled out.

Saints | Willie Snead a game-time decision

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 12:26:26 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) said he will be a game-time decision for the team's Week 3 game. He hopes to play but indicated that head coach Sean Payton will decide on his status.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Snead will be able to play. He has started the season strong but will be a risky option in fantasy leagues since he plays on Monday Night Football. Owners may want to use other options in their lineups instead of hoping that Snead plays.

Saints | Another missed practice for Willie Snead

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 14:09:33 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) was absent from practice for the second straight day on Friday, Sept. 23, possibly creating some doubt for his Week 3 availability versus the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Tip: Because Friday is considered the most important practice day for games played on the following Monday, Snead's status is becoming a concern. The WR3 in overall PPR scoring through two weeks has obviously benefited from Coby Fleener's slow start, but a toe injury - specifically a turf toe - could bring that to a halt very quickly. Beat writers don't appear to be worried yet, but owners would be wise to start considering their options in case he shows up as a DNP again on Saturday.

Saints | Willie Snead sidelined

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 15:37:16 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (toe) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Thursday was the Saints' first practice of the week because they play on Monday night. Snead will have more time to nurse and heal the toe injury, but keep an eye on his progress or lack thereof in the coming days. He has a nice matchup against the Atlanta Falcons and is a must-start if he plays following one of the hottest starts in football.

Saints | Willie Snead posts giant stat line

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 18:38:24 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead posted nine receptions for a career-high 172 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Snead took advantage of a very giving Raiders pass defense in a shootout. He is worth a look as a WR3 in all fantasy leagues, as he caught the eye of Drew Brees much more than newcomers Coby Fleener and Michael Thomas. He'll face another fairly favorable matchup at N.Y. Giants in Week 2.

Saints | Brandon Coleman busy in loss

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 22:20:09 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandon Coleman posted six receptions for 47 yards on 10 targets in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Houston Texans. He saw increased work with WRs Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead resting.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman looked good last preseason, but he never did quite emerge as that special fantasy sleeper everyone envisioned. Now, Brandin Cooks is the top banana and a WR1 for fantasy owners, and Willie Snead and rookie Michael Thomas look to be special. It appears Coleman will be the No. 4 wideout in NOLA, and more of a WR5 for fantasy players in most formats.

Saints | Cooks, Snead sitting vs. Texans

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 16:48:23 -0700

New Orleans WR Brandin Cooks and WR Willie Snead will not play in the team's exhibition game against the Houston Texans on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Neither player is known to be dealing with an injury, so the Saints' decision to sit both starters is likely just a way to give rookie Michael Thomas and others behind him on the depth chart plenty of snaps to show their wares. Look for Cooks and Snead to play most of the first half when New Orleans hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers next Friday.

Saints | Willie Snead high on totem pole

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 20:06:43 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead had a big season in 2015, and the big question heading into 2016 is whether he loses snaps in two-receiver sets to WR Michael Thomas or another player. Beat writer Nick Underhill feels if Snead gets the same opportunities as last season he could have an even better season.

Fantasy Tip: Snead was just shy of 1,000 yards last season, and was a legitimate WR3/4 or flex fantasy option in most formats down the stretch.

Saints | Drew Brees confident in young receivers

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 09:19:08 -0700

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees has confidence in his young corps of wide receivers led by WR Brandin Cooks and WR Willie Snead.

"I think when Drew is out there, he doesn't look at Brandin Cooks as a young player," head coach Sean Payton said. "I don't think he looks at Snead that way anymore because of the experience they've had. There's a combination there of guys that know what to do and how do they fit with the scheme that we're asking of them."

Fantasy Tip: Brees is 37, but he led the league in passing yards last season and completed 68.3% of his passes. The 32 touchdowns limited his output some, but that could increase as the experience with this group increases. Cooks has the ability of a WR1 in fantasy, but he's probably better served as a WR2. Snead amassed 984 yards and three scores last year and is a serviceable WR3. Brandon Coleman is a breakout candidate as a WR4. As for Brees, he's just below the elite tier of fantasy QBs, but he should be one of the first options after the top three are gone.

Saints | Big step coming for Willie Snead?

Mon, 30 May 2016 13:22:30 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead could take a big step forward this season with his experience and comfort level in the offense, according to head coach Sean Payton. Payton said Snead has great attention to detail, he trains well, he's smart and he has a good knack for finding holes in zone coverage.

Fantasy Tip: Snead really stepped up last year and barely missed 1,000 yards. If he can maintain his status as the Saints' No. 2 wide receiver and improve on last year's numbers, then he can achieve WR3 status in 2016.
