Dolphins | Jarvis Landry under investigation

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 09:30:50 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry is being investigated for possible battery, head coach Adam Gase confirmed Monday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Landry is in a contract year and posts very good numbers in PPR leagues - outside of touchdowns. Ryan Tannehill has struggled with the deep ball throughout his career, and Jay Cutler could help Landry there. The cloud of the investigation puts some risk on his high-end WR2 status.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry to play out rookie deal

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 12:37:44 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry did not receive a contract extension offer from the Dolphins this offseason and is expected to play out the final year of his rookie deal.

Fantasy Tip: This seems to be a clear sign the Dolphins intend on moving forward with DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills in what would figure to be a more play-action heavy, vertical-based passing game. Landry still figures to see his seven targets per game or so in 2017, but owners counting on the level of production he provided in his first three seasons may be disappointed. He figures to be firmly on the WR2/3 borderline.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry deal not pressing

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 12:00:11 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry isn't worried about a contract extension and neither are the Dolphins. Owner Stephen Ross said he doesn't know if a deal will get done before the season starts and even said Landry could be franchise tagged next offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The bottom line is that Landry is the best wide receiver on the Dolphins and one of the most consistent PPR receivers in the league. His scoring upside has a low ceiling, but he has WR1 appeal in said PPR leagues.

Dolphins | MIA still wants to re-up with Jarvis Landry

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 07:54:20 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry still hasn't received a contract extension offer from the team, but the Dolphins are still interested in getting a deal done. Landry is under contract for 2017, and the team could use the franchise tag next season at around $15 million.

Fantasy Tip: Landry has been productive, but his 13 touchdowns in three years stunt his fantasy value. He's a WR2, but if he could find his way into the end zone more often, he has WR1 tools.

Dolphins | No offer for Jarvis Landry

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 19:02:26 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry has not been offered a contract extension, but Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald believes that could change in the coming weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Landry is one of the best slot receivers in the game. He hasn't shown enough touchdown potential to be considered a WR1 yet, but he is a quality WR2 with more value in PPR formats.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry won't discuss extension

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 16:55:26 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry will not talk about a possible contract extension once the regular season commences. The potential extension is expected to be around $11 million per year. If an extension is not agreed upon by next offseason, then the Dolphins will have the option of placing the franchise tag on Landry.

Fantasy Tip: Landry is indubitably Miami's best, most consistent receiver and Ryan Tannehill's go-to guy. He has more value in PPR formats, but he's still a viable low-end WR1 to high-end WR2 in standard leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry getting it done in the slot

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 19:50:08 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry has secured 199 catches out of the slot over the last three seasons, more than any other receiver in the NFL over that time.

Fantasy Tip: Much of Landry's production out of the slot came in his first two seasons, but that doesn't diminish just how consistently he gets open regardless of where he lines up. The fourth-year wideout is a rock-solid WR2 in most leagues and only needs to find the end zone more often in order to become a WR1.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry will not hold out

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 09:03:29 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry will not negotiate with the Dolphins regarding a contract extension after the start of the season, according to his agent, who added the receiver will not hold out training camp if the deal is not reached in the next few weeks.

Fantasy Tip: It's more than a bit surprising Miami hasn't already locked him up, but at least owners should be able to breathe easier regarding his status for the upcoming season. With no fewer than 84 catches in any of his first three seasons, he's a solid WR2 who only needs to find the end zone a bit more often in order to become a WR1.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry reports for minicamp

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 17:45:10 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry reported for the start of minicamp Tuesday, June 13, even though he is looking for a new contract. Landry would like to sign an extension before the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins will have a little over a month to work something out with Landry, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. Landry ranked 10th in the NFL with 1,136 yards in 2016 and tied for seventh with 94 receptions. He is the main target in the passing game for Miami and should be low-end No. 1 of a No. 2 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry not focused enough?

Thu, 08 Jun 2017 14:55:48 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry must "zero in" on the small details of the game that kept the Dolphins from "clicking" last year, according to The Miami Herald's Adam Beasley. Head coach Adam Gase has been pleased with how consistent Landry has been practicing and doing the little things. "When he's rolling he was today, you just keep trying to find ways to get him the ball," Gase said.

Fantasy Tip: Little things or no little things, Landry has been a solid fantasy player during his first three professional seasons, averaging 96 catches for 1,017 yards and 4.3 touchdowns. Those numbers put him in prime low-end PPR WR1 territory.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry a decent bet to sign new deal

Tue, 06 Jun 2017 09:41:04 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry is entering the final season of his four-year rookie contract, and the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero believes there is a 60 percent chance Landry will sign an extension prior to the start of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Landry has frustrated owners by scoring only 13 touchdowns over his first three seasons, but that is about the only thing lacking on his resume - real or fantasy. His yards per catch has increased every year and he has yet to finish with fewer than 84 receptions in a season, which makes him a pretty solid WR2 option more often than not in PPR. Miami cannot afford to let him walk, so expect negotiations to pick up fairly soon.

Dolphins | Less double coverage for Jarvis Landry?

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 09:45:41 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry estimated he'd been "doubled on" about half the pass plays the team has run over the past two seasons, but believes the addition of TE Julius Thomas will prevent opponents from double-teaming him as often.

Fantasy Tip: Landry is already a high-targeted commodity -- both on the field and in fantasy -- and he's got a valid point if Thomas can become what he once was in Denver, which is very possible now that he's been reunited with Adam Gase. This also could spark an increase in Landry's touchdown total -- he's never had more than five scores in a season, but Thomas' feared presence in the red zone could open up some more looks for the fourth-year wide-out.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry participating

Thu, 25 May 2017 08:10:27 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry is participating in organized team activities Thursday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Landry is seeking a new deal, but he has yet to take the next step into the WR1 class in fantasy. He had a 94-1,136-4 line last season, which is good, but he has just 13 scores in three seasons. He'll be a high-end WR2 in drafts.

Dolphins | No contract talks for Jarvis Landry

Thu, 20 Apr 2017 18:44:04 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry has not begun serious talks about a contract extension, but the team has told him they want him around after his current deal expires.

Fantasy Tip: Landry's lack of touchdowns will make it tough for him to crack WR1 status, but he is a solid WR2, especially in PPR formats.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry reports to workouts

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 08:05:54 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry reported to voluntary workouts Monday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Landry is hoping to get a new contract and doesn't appear to be playing hardball. His numbers have been good, but he has yet to take that next step to WR1 status. He's a very good WR2, but he averages just over four touchdowns per season.

Dolphins | No quick extension coming for Jarvis Landry?

Fri, 14 Apr 2017 10:45:16 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry is expected to eventually come to an agreement on a long-term deal, but he is unlikely to receive a contract extension over the weekend before the start of the team's offseason program Monday, April 17, according to ESPN's James Walker.

Fantasy Tip: The implication, of course, being Landry will choose to skip those workouts, although head coach Adam Gase doesn't believe that will be the case. Landry, who is due $893,852 in the final year of his rookie contract, has yet to miss a game in three years in the league or catch fewer than 84 passes in a season. He will likely remain a Dolphin for the foreseeable future and is a solid WR2 option in fantasy.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry not on block

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 06:01:33 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry is not on the trade block, but the team has received calls about him.

Fantasy Tip: Landry is dirt cheap ($1.1 million) in the final year of his contract. He has averaged 96 catches for 1,017 yards in his three years. That makes you think WR1, right? The problem is he only has 13 touchdowns in those three years. He's knocking on the door, but there could be eight or 10 better options than him at the position.

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 12:18:54 -0800

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry entering contract year

Tue, 24 Jan 2017 07:05:38 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2017, and he's set to earn $1.1 million.

Fantasy Tip: Landry posted an image to social media with a caption insinuating he's seeking a new deal. He has had two pretty good seasons in a row in PPR leagues, but four touchdowns in each keep him in the WR2 range in fantasy.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry productive on road, at home

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 17:32:06 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry caught 42 passes for 576 yards and two touchdowns at home this season and caught 52 passes for 560 yards and two touchdowns on the road.

Fantasy Tip: Landry led the team in targets by a wide margin and was a key part of the passing game this season. He will continue to be one of the main part of the offense in 2017 and can be a low-end No. 2 receiver or a No. 3 receiver for fantasy owners.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry could receive early extension

Mon, 09 Jan 2017 10:16:40 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry has one year left on his rookie deal, but it is reportedly a "near certainty" he will be offered a contract extension at some point this spring after leading the team in receiving in each of his first three seasons.

Fantasy Tip: This one should be a no-brainer for the Dolphins, as Landry finished his third NFL campaign with 94 receptions and is coming off an 11-catch, 102-yard effort in the team's Wild Card playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Landry hasn't shown much touchdown upside - he scored five offensive touchdowns in 2014 and 2015 before tallying four in 2016 - but that is about the only reason he hasn't emerged as a true WR1 in fantasy yet.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry surpasses 100-yard mark

Sun, 08 Jan 2017 13:37:44 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry caught 11 passes for 102 yards in the Wild Card playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Landry finished the season with at least 100 yards in three of his final five games and had two of his four touchdowns in the final three regular season game. He will continue to be the Dolphins' top receiver in 2017 and should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver for fantasy owners.

Sat, 07 Jan 2017 07:19:29 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry was fined $48,618 by the National Football League for his touchdown celebration in Week 17's game against the New England Patriots. He was fined $24,309 for grabbing his crotch and $24,309 for slamming his helmet, according to a league spokesman.

Fantasy Tip: Landry had nine receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown versus the Patriots and should be viewed as a viable WR2 option in all postseason fantasy pools against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 19:13:22 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry hauled in nine receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets in the Week 17 game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Landry wrapped up his regular season with 94 catches for 1,136 yards and four touchdowns. He is a stud in all PPR fantasy formats, and he should be treated as a WR2 in all postseason fantasy pools. The Dolphins travel to Pittsburgh for the wild-card round.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry held in check

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 14:53:26 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry caught three passes for 29 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Landry entered the game with two straight 100-yard performances but was held to under 30 yards for only the third time this season. He is one of the main targets in Miami's passing game and should be at least a No. 3 receiver in all leagues.

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the second straight year with a 66-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter against the New York Jets Saturday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Landry doesn't catch a lot of touchdowns, but he is dependable. He is a WR3 in standard leagues, but he has WR2 upside in PPR formats.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry hits triple digits

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 16:32:09 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry posted four receptions for 103 yards on six targets in the Week 14 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Landry's day was solid, but he could take a step back after losing his starting quarterback. Ryan Tannehill went down with what the team fears is a torn ACL. Matt Moore should step and attempt to build rapport with Landry, but his fantasy value takes a bit of a hit.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry should be in uniform

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 14:23:57 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 9, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Landry has been targeted 26 times over the last three games and but has posted at least 50 yards in only one of those games. He has caught only two touchdowns this season but can still be a decent No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry fully practices

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 14:43:39 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (non-injury) put in a full practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Landry and the Dolphins as a whole have been underachievers in 2016. He hasn't even been too valuable in PPR leagues, which is where he's most valuable. He may see his fair share of targets, but he hasn't topped 100 yards since Week 3 and has only scored once in his last nine games. Plus, the Arizona Cardinals have one of the better pass defenses in the NFL. Landry shouldn't necessarily be benched, but he's no more than a WR3 in PPR formats.

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 09:41:33 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (non-injury) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 8, after missing practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Landry likely will receive his usual workload this week against the Arizona Cardinals. He posted a solid 87 yards in the team's Week 13 game and could see a solid amount of targets during the game. He can be considered a No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry not practicing

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 11:16:26 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (non-injury) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Landry probably will be back at practice later in the week and should be in uniform in Week 14. He is coming off a solid performance where he caught 11 passes for 87 yards in Week 13 and should have a solid role against the Arizona Cardinals. He can be considered a No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry posts 11 receptions

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 21:12:05 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry racked up 11 receptions for 87 yards on 14 targets in the Week 13 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: The game was just the second double-digit reception outing for Landry this season. He has six or more receptions in seven of his 12 games, but just twice in the past six. Despite the uneven results lately, he remains a must-start in all PPR fantasy formats and most standard leagues as well.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry's struggles continue

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 15:05:49 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry caught four passes for 47 yards against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Miami has found several other capable receivers and a sound running game to cut into Landry's fantasy production. The Dolphins have an unfavorable schedule for receivers going forward, and there is not a lot of reason to believe he will turn it around without DeVante Parker's back injury being serious. At best, Landry is a PPR flex play.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry will be active

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 09:17:59 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 12 game.

Fantasy Tip: Landry should receive his normal workload this week against the San Francisco 49ers and should see a solid amount of targets. He probably should be considered a low-end No. 2 or a No. 3 receiver in a majority of fantasy leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry's status in question

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 17:10:06 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 25, and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Landry should be able to play even though he is listed as questionable, but owners will need to check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. He has caught at least five passes in four of his last five games but has been a bit inconsistent in terms of his receiving yards. Landry should probably be considered a No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry good to go Week 12

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 11:31:23 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) wore a red non-contact jersey in practice this week, but head coach Adam Gase told reporters Friday, Nov. 25, he did so only as a precaution and expects Landry to play Week 12 versus the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Owners have seen Landry's targets and production slip significantly following the emergence of Jay Ajayi, but he may be needed again this week despite the soft running-game matchup since the Dolphins could be without three offensive line starters. While he is never a great bet to find the end zone, the volume should be there this week and make him a solid low-end WR2 play in PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry limited at practice

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 21:50:57 -0800

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry limited

Wed, 23 Nov 2016 13:41:15 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: A player usually plays when he is limited to begin the week's injury reports, unless, of course, he is downgraded later on. Landry should be in starting lineups in what is arguably his best matchup of the season against the San Francisco 49ers, who have been the worst fantasy defenses against receivers in 2016. Landry has disappointed this season, but he's a fringe WR1 in PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry has TD in victory

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 20:29:28 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry reeled in five receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown on five targets in the Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Landry didn't do much in the yardage department, but at least he found the end zone. The emergence of DeVante Parker has taken away targets from Landry. Treat him more as a WR3 heading into Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 11:50:21 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 11 game.

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 08:03:54 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 11's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Landry was a full participant in practice Friday, Nov. 18, after being limited during the previous two sessions earlier in the week. He should continue to see a decent amount of targets and should be viewed as a high-end WR3 in standard fantasy formats, with WR2 upside in PPR leagues.

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 16:04:00 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 18, and is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Landry probably will be able to play, but owners will need to check the inactive list to make sure. Fantasy Tip: Landry likely will be able to play in Week 11, but owners should check on his status later in the week. He has been targeted at least six times in eight of the nine games this season and will continue to be one of main parts of the team's passing game. He should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in all leagues.

Dolphins | Six receptions for Jarvis Landry

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 19:30:53 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry converted all six of his targets into receptions in the Week 10 game against the San Diego Chargers and he finished with 53 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Landry was used a little more than last week, but it was still a disappointing performance for Landry and his fantasy owners. DeVante Parker had eight targets and that could be a problem going forward if Parker stays healthy.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry likely to play

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 07:29:53 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 10's game against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Landry returned to practice on a limited basis Friday, Nov. 11, after sustaining a minor shoulder injury Wednesday, Nov. 9. He has a favorable matchup this week versus a San Diego defense that has allowed the second-most receptions and fourth-most receiving yards in the NFL, making him worthy of consideration as a high-end WR2.

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Nov. 11, and he is questionable for the Week 10 game against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Landry has a very favorable matchup against a Chargers defense which ranks 26th in the NFL, allowing 279.3 yards per game with 14 touchdowns and 33 pass plays of 20 or more yards. The team apparently wants to get the ball into his hands more, and that's great news for fantasy owners with this favorable matchup.

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) is dealing with shoulder soreness but plans to play through it in Week 10 against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Adam Gase and offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen each took some of the blame for not getting the ball to Landry enough last week, so look for an early overcorrection in that regard this week. However, with Jay Ajayi and the ground game working so well lately, Landry's once-consistent volume has been virtually nonexistent. It's fair to expect Gase and Christiansen will find a happy medium sooner than later, so keep trotting out Landry as a high-floor WR2.
