Steelers | Martavis Bryant failed tests

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 16:10:55 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant's impending four-game suspension is for failing marijuana tests, according to a source. The suspension's appeal is in its latter stages.

Fantasy Tip: If the suspension holds, Bryant drops into low-end WR3 to high-end WR4 territory. Meanwhile, Markus Wheaton would get a pretty big boost. He should be considered in the same territory as Bryant if the suspension is upheld.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant facing suspension

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 11:53:00 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant has been suspended four games for violating the league's Substance Abuse Policy, according to league sources. He has filed an appeal.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant has WR3 potential, and it's possible he'll get a game knocked off. However, he has been running with the second team in camp and will have to earn his way back into a featured role in the offense. He's in WR4 territory right now, while Markus Wheaton bumps up to WR4 status as well.

Steelers | Markus Wheaton likely to start

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 05:17:58 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton is likely to start over WR Martavis Bryant, in the opinion of beat writer Ed Bouchette. The team uses three receivers a lot, and Bryant will see the field often.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is the more valuable fantasy asset with WR3 talent. Wheaton is more in the back end of fantasy receiving corps.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant list as a backup

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 12:55:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is listed as a backup to WR Antonio Brown on the team's first depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is competing for the No. 2 wide receiver job but will see plenty of playing time even if he is the No. 3 receiver. Bryant performed very well in his limited playing time last season and could be a middle-round option in deeper leagues.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant not starting yet

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 09:05:55 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant remains behind WR Antonio Brown on the official depth chart. WR Markus Wheaton is listed as the starter opposite Brown.

Fantasy Tip: Many have speculated Bryant would overtake Wheaton opposite of Brown, but it hasn't happened yet. Bryant has WR3 fantasy value, but an elbow infection slowed him. He'll need to prove he'll have a big role in the offense before we're comfortable spending that high of a pick on him.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant has elbow infection

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 12:53:17 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant (elbow) will undergo a procedure for an elbow infection that will cause him to miss the Hall of Fame Game Sunday, Aug. 9, against the Minnesota Vikings. He is expected to be sidelined for seven to 10 days because of an infection caused by an ingrown hair.

Fantasy Tip: Fortunately, this does not appear to be a serious injury for Bryant. His role in the Pittsburgh offense should grow this season and he's worth taking a gamble on as a WR3.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant should up snap count

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 17:40:04 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant played an average of just 29% of offensive snaps in 2014, but he is expected to serve as the primary No. 2 receiver on the outside in 2015 with WR Markus Wheaton moving to more of a slot role.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant found the end zone eight times in just 10 games, and a full season in a bigger role gives him an enormous ceiling. There is still some risk involved with taking a relatively unproven player, but he is well worth the gamble as a WR3.

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 18:32:38 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant had eight touchdown catches and five catches of 40-plus yards in 10 games as a rookie.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is big play waiting to happen with his combination of size, speed and leaping ability. His role in the offense should only grow in 2015, and he is worth taking a chance on as a WR3.
