Steelers | Martavis Bryant back on the field

Sun, 20 Aug 2017 18:19:52 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant saw his first game action in 18 months, finishing with two catches for 20 yards in a 17-13 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant's issues off the field are well documented, but he is a big-play weapon on the field. He is a high-risk, high-reward option, but the gamble is worth it if you can land him as a WR3.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant to practice in full Sunday

Sat, 12 Aug 2017 09:35:43 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant participated in a closed practice session Thursday, Aug. 10, and has been cleared for full practice Sunday, Aug. 13, after the Steelers received word from the league earlier in the week he was allowed to rejoin the team.

Fantasy Tip: The reports on Bryant have been positive all offseason, but he is at risk of being overpriced in fantasy as his ADP has already shot into the fourth round. While he certainly has the talent to live up to it, he will be hard-pressed to do so in an offense that will be centered around Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell. Owners also need to consider the likelihood Ben Roethlisberger will miss time again this season. He's a high-risk, high-reward WR2 at his current ADP.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant expected to sit Friday

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 14:45:55 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is not expected to play in the preseason game against the New York Giants Friday, Aug. 11, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is allowed to play in preseason games but has not practiced with the team yet, so he is more likely to play in the second preseason game. He is a risky option for fantasy owners because of his off-field issues but can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver because of his big-play ability.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant not fully cleared

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 16:31:31 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant has been cleared for all preseason activities but will continue to be evaluated as to his readiness to participate in regular season activities.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant can practice during training camp and play in preseason games for now but appears to be on track to be on the field for Week 1. He can be a solid No. 3 fantasy receiver despite his off-field issues.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant reinstated

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 16:17:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is now permitted to participate in all football activities, according to general manager Kevin Colbert.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant probably will not play in the first preseason game but has a chance to play in the second game. Bryant is a risky option for owners because of his previous off-field issues but is a productive player with 14 touchdowns in 21 career regular season games. He should be considered a high-end No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant to practice soon?

Sun, 06 Aug 2017 17:40:39 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is expected to be fully reinstated and return to practice this week, a team source said Sunday, Aug. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming Bryant stays out of trouble and on the field, he will be a high-upside WR3 as the deep threat in Pittsburgh's passing attack.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant still not practicing

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 10:48:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant has yet to satisfy all of the NFL's requirements for reinstatement after serving his one-year drug suspension and will continue to not be allowed to practice at training camp until that changes. "Bryant may join the Steelers at the training facility and participate in meetings, conditioning work and similar activities. Once arrangements have been confirmed regarding Bryant's clinical resources in Pittsburgh, he will be permitted to participate in all preseason activities, including practices and games," according to a statement provided by league spokesman Brian McCarthy, who added there is no timetable for a decision from the league.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant must pass an NFL review prior to the start of the regular season in order to play Week 1 and will be evaluated during the season before being granted full reinstatement. Whether or not this throws cold water on his rising ADP in fantasy drafts is another story, but it should. Until he is cleared by the league, owners can't assume he will be. He should be considered a high-risk, high-reward WR3 until he receives his clearance.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant not yet reinstated

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 13:12:21 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is still in the process of being fully reinstated into the NFL. He is in the first stages of that process but is not officially reinstated, according to general manager Kevin Colbert. Until then, Bryant is not permitted to practice with the team or play in any games. He is allowed to participate in off-field team activities, however.

Fantasy Tip: This puts a little wrinkle into the Steelers' passing game, but Bryant is expected to be fully reinstated. If that happens before the season starts then he has WR2 upside. If it doesn't, then rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster suddenly looks more appealing as a sleeper.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant wants to talk to QB

Fri, 14 Jul 2017 18:31:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant said he wants to talk with QB Ben Roethlisberger "man-to-man" about the public comments Roethlisberger made about Bryant's suspension. "Hopefully we'll have it before the season starts," Bryant said. "If not, that's fine. I'm still going to go out and perform and do what I have to do to be the best teammate I can be."

Fantasy Tip: Fair or foul, the comments Roethlisberger made shouldn't have much impact on Bryant's fantasy value. If he can stay out of trouble, Bryant's big-play potential makes him a high-upside WR3.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger praises Martavis Bryant

Mon, 19 Jun 2017 22:17:58 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said WR Martavis Bryant "looks like a stud, as usual" when asked how the returning wide-out is fitting back in with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Before he was suspended for the entirety of last season, Bryant was indeed a stud in his first two years in the league, catching 14 touchdown passes across 21 games, while accumulating 76 receptions for 1,314 yards over that span. If he can avoid the off-the-field issues that have plagued his career, there's no doubt Bryant can be a big-time contributor again in 2017 and should be monitored in drafts accordingly.
