Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon is expected to see touches in Week 2 against the New England Patriots with RB Adrian Peterson deactivated, but RB Matt Asiata is likely to start and see a majority of the carries.
Fantasy Tip: At $3700 (7.4 percent of salary cap) in FantasyScore leagues, McKinnon looks to be attractive, but that's the same price for Asiata. If you are looking for a low-cost option with upside, go Asiata over the rookie McKinnon.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon led the team with 12 carries and 45 yards in the preseason opener against the Oakland Raiders Friday, Aug. 8. He was also targeted twice, although he had zero receptions. RB Dominique Williams had nine totes for 27 yards, while RB Joe Banyard hauled the mail eight times for 22 yards while posting 13 yards on two catches. RB Matt Asiata also had three runs for 13 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy Tip: The reserve running backs were getting plenty of work with Adrian Peterson resting, and with Peterson not expected to play in the preseason, they all are likely to get plenty of work. Asiata appears to be slotted as the primary backup with McKinnon as the No. 3 running back and Banyard and Williams battling for the No. 4 job, although that is still subject to change. Only Asiata is worth any fantasy consideration at this point.
