Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed 10 times for just 32 yards in Week 10 against the Washington Redskins and he added two receptions for 15 yards.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon was outgained badly by Latavius Murray and his opportunity with Dalvin Cook sidelined might be slipping away. He remains nothing more than an RB3 or flex option in most fantasy formats right now.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed for 50 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8. He also caught six passes for 72 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon has received at least 14 carries in each of the last four games and has three rushing touchdowns during that span. He also has at least five catches in three of the last four games. He should be considered a No. 2 running back or a flex option in all fantasy leagues.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed for 47 yards on 14 carries against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7. He also caught three passes for 10 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon saw his stats drop a bit this week against the Ravens but remains involved in the running and passing game. He should have a favorable matchup in Week 8 and can be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon is good to go

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 15:25:07 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) practiced in full on Friday, Oct. 20, and he has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 7 game with the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon is likely to see a healthy amount of work against the Ravens, especially in the pass game, as Case Keenum will be without Stefon Diggs again. McKinnon is a respectable RB2 or flex option in most fantasy leagues, but especially so in PPR formats.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon fully healthy

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 14:14:14 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon has taken the NFL by storm since he was integrated as the featured running back two weeks ago. In those games, he has averaged 122.5 total yards, 5.5 catches and 1.5 touchdowns. The Baltimore Ravens have been susceptible to the running game this year, too, so start McKinnon as a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2.

Vikings | Full practice for Jerick McKinnon

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 13:46:53 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) was able to take part in a full practice Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon had a monster game in Week 6 and now he is looking to follow it up with another, picking up the slack of the injured rookie Dalvin Cook. The Ravens rank 30th in the NFL against the run, giving up 141.3 yards per game on the ground, so it could be another banner week for McKinnon.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed 16 times for 69 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers and he added five receptions for 30 yards and a score.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon finally exploded for a big stat line, his first since Dalvin Cook went down with a serious injury. KcKinnon appears to have the potential to be a strong RB2 or flex play down the stretch. The Vikings host the Ravens in Week 7.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon delivers on Monday night

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 21:36:29 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in the team's Week 5 game Monday, Oct. 9, versus the Chicago Bears. He also caught all six of his targets for 51 receiving yards.

Fantasy Tip: In the first game without Dalvin Cook, McKinnon immediately took ownership of Minnesota's backfield, as Latavius Murray didn't contribute much at all on his end. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old was great here, pretty much doing it all and leading the Vikings to the big road victory. He should also continue helping fantasy owners as an RB2 if this usage continues.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) was limited during practice Saturday, Oct. 7, but is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon will have a bigger role in the offense with Dalvin Cook out for the season and should be involved in the passing game. He has not posted great numbers so far this season but could be a flex option for desperate owners in deeper leagues.

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 08:24:48 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) left the game Sunday, Oct. 1, due to an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: With Dalvin Cook (knee) likely out, McKinnon could see significant work alongside Latavius Murray. McKinnon is an RB5 flyer to target on waivers if his injury isn't serious.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon goes nowhere fast

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 15:05:47 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed twice for zero yards in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions and he had no catches on two targets.

Fantasy Tip: It was Latavius Murray, not McKinnon, who saw an increase in snaps once Dalvin Cook exited the game with what looked to be a serious knee injury. He will be a popular free agent target off the waiver wire in Week 5.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon nursing leg injury

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 19:35:46 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (leg) did not practice Friday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Minnesota added Latavius Murray and Dalvin Cook to the backfield, so McKinnon could struggle to find a meaningful role this year. He is merely a late-round flier at this point.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon bigger, better in 2017?

Sat, 27 May 2017 15:03:27 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon trained with former teammate Adrian Peterson in Houston during the offseason and weighs 211 pounds, up from 200 a season ago. McKinnon is reportedly not only stronger, but faster as well. "I'm just ready to prove myself and show how much better I've got in the offseason," McKinnon said.

Fantasy Tip: The Vikings added Latavius Murray and second-round pick Dalvin Cook this spring, but McKinnon boasts enough talent to give both a run for their money. Cook and Murray will likely end up winning out as the team has invested more money in them, although it will be difficult to keep a stronger and faster McKinnon off the field. If his offseason training is as good as he thinks it was, McKinnon could force the Vikings to go with a three-man committee backfield.

Vikings | Pat Shurmur focused on running game

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 14:55:47 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RBs Adrian Peterson and/or Jerick McKinnon could see increased usage in 2017 with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Shurmur wants to improve the offense as a whole, but he said the key and focal point of the offense will be to do a better job in the running game.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's future with the Vikings remains unclear, but either he or McKinnon could be better used next season, with Matt Asiata remaining in a change-of-pace and passing role. No matter who Peterson plays for in 2017, drafting him will be playing with fire considering he's missed almost two full seasons in the past three years.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon finishes up strong

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 21:22:00 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed 16 times for 89 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears. He added three receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown on his four targets.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon rushed for 539 yards with two scores, and he added 43 catches for 255 yards and two touchdowns. He proved he can be a solid PPR fantasy option in deeper leagues, but if Adrian Peterson is back at full speed in 2017 and wearing purple and gold, McKinnon once again takes a back seat.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon helps in run, pass game

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 14:11:39 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed for 50 yards on 11 carries against the Green Bay Packers in Week 16. He also caught five passes for 35 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon received most of the carries with Adrian Peterson out of the lineup and posted decent numbers against the Packers. He will continue to share work with Matt Asiata but can be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon totals 12 touches

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 18:22:20 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushes three times for 12 yards while racking up a team-high nine receptions for 59 yards on his nine targets in the Week 15 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon saw a dent to his carry totals with Adrian Peterson back after an 11-game absence, but a lopsided score on the board led to more passing and McKinnon is clearly better with his hands out of the backfield than any of the other backs on the roster. He remains useful in deeper PPR formats, but he isn't worth using in standard formats into Week 16 unless Peterson is inactive for some reason.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon totals 20 touches

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 22:34:50 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed 14 times for just 31 yards in the Week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He added six receptions for 38 yards on his six targets.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon and Matt Asiata split the backfield touches nearly down the middle, and neither was particularly effective. Treat McKinnon as a low-end RB3 in most fantasy formats heading into Week 15.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon struggles

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 14:21:59 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed 16 times for 44 yards Sunday, Nov. 20, in a 30-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Right now the Vikings have a running-back issue, the same issue that has plagued them since Adrian Peterson went down. None of Minnesota's backs really command any solid value at this point.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon has off day

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 13:17:27 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon ran six times for 16 yards Sunday, Nov. 13, in a 26-20 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: What is up with Minnesota's running game besides the fact the Vikings miss Adrian Peterson? Washington surrendered the fifth-most rushing yards per game, yet it gave up just 47 yards on Sunday. Right now, all Viking rushers are considered ineffective.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon ready to roll in Week 10

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 13:16:27 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) was a full participant in practice Friday, Nov. 11, and expected to play in Week 10 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon faces a favorable matchup against the league's 26th-ranked rush defense, as Washington gives up 123.8 yards per game with 12 touchdowns, tied for most in the NFL. McKinnon is a solid low-end RB2 in most fantasy formats and a sneaky DFS play, too.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon takes part in practice

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 12:08:27 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon should be fine for the team's Week 10 game and likely will share playing time with Matt Asiata. He was only able to rush for eight yards on seven carries in the last game but may receive more touches since he is closer to being 100% healthy. McKinnon could be a flex option in some leagues but can also be benched if owners have better options.

Vikings | Full practice for Jerick McKinnon

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 13:12:47 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: The likely return of McKinnon does not necessarily mean he'll immediately be thrust back into a starting role. Matt Asiata has held his own with McKinnon out and both should split touches as they were before McKinnon's injury. If there are better choices in one's lineup(s), the safer option might be to bench both Minnesota running backs.

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 08:51:16 -0800

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (groin) is active for Week 9's game against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the favorable matchup, McKinnon is expected to share carries this afternoon with Matt Asiata, so he should be considered no better than a flex option or RB3 versus the Lions.

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 06:07:12 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (groin) is expected to play in Week 9's game against the Detroit Lions, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon was a limited participant in the team's final two practices during the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Fri, 04 Nov 2016 16:07:59 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon said he expects to play but owners will need to check on the inactive list to make sure he plays. He likely would share playing time with Matt Asiata if he plays and can be a flex option for owners.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon practices again

Fri, 04 Nov 2016 10:39:15 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and appears set to return from a one-game absence in Week 9 against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: That's the good news. The bad news is he'll return to a different offensive coordinator (Pat Shurmur) and the same ineffective offensive line that hasn't been able to open many holes for any back this season. He'll also likely share carries again with Matt Asiata. Even in what should be a favorable matchup for McKinnon, he should be considered no more than a RB3 this weekend.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon limited in practice

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 19:10:11 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) was listed as a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Fantasy Tip: If McKinnon is active he'll face a Detroit Lions rush defense ranking 17th in the NFL allowing 110.6 yards per game with three touchdowns. He is worth a look as a flex fantasy option in leagues of 12 or more teams when healthy.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) is participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) said his ankle is feeling better and that he expects to play in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon was not able to play in the last game, so owners will need to monitor his status during the week. He probably would share work with Matt Asiata if he is active for Week 9 but could still be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option for owners.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon ruled out

Sat, 29 Oct 2016 11:44:56 -0700

Updating a previous report, Jerick McKinnon (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 8 versus the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Matt Asiata will get the start and should be receive all the touches he can handle, making him a solid RB2 option in fantasy. Based on projected game script, it is possible Ronnie Hillman could see significant work later in the game, but he still only warrants consideration in the deepest of deep leagues at the moment.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon misses practice Saturday

Sat, 29 Oct 2016 09:24:54 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) did not participate in practice Saturday, Oct. 29, and is not expected to play in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Andrew Krammer.

Fantasy Tip: Matt Asiata will most likely serve as the lead back if McKinnon is ruled out before Monday and merits a start in most fantasy leagues, especially with six teams on a bye. Ronnie Hillman may also get a few snaps, but he is well off the fantasy radar barring an injury to Asiata.

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 11:03:49 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) is no longer wearing the walking boot he was spotted with Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: With a Monday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears on the horizon, the Vikings could easily choose to rest McKinnon if they are on the fence about his status. Matt Asiata is shaping up as a solid RB2 with a voluminous workload and should be considered a serviceable RB2 option as a result. Ronnie Hillman could also see some snaps in relief.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon carried 20 times for just 36 yards in the Week 5 game against the Houston Texans. He also had one catch for 10 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon was outperformed by Matt Asiata, and could have played himself into a timeshare or a No. 2 role with the poor performance. The team returns in Week 7 after a bye next week.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon was fined $12,154 by the National Football League for an excessive celebration during Week 4's game against the New York Giants following a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Although he collected 85 rushing yards and had three catches versus the Giants, McKinnon should continue to be viewed as a low-end RB2 or flex option for Week 5's game against the Houston Texans.

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed 18 times for 85 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against the New York Giants Monday, Oct. 3, and he added three receptions for 10 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon and the Vikings rushing offense has struggled all season, but this was a good sign they can move the ball on the ground, as well as through the air. McKinnon is still more of a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option heading into Week 5 against the Houston Texans.
