Jaguars | Blake Bortles has uneven performance

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 14:52:21 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles went 24-for-38 for 194 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. He also rushed for 17 yards on three carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles has thrown six interceptions in his first three games but also has five touchdowns during that span. He is scheduled to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4 and should be a decent No. 1 quarterback for fantasy owners.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles sharp in brief action

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 21:04:37 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed eight of his 11 pass attempts for 85 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles connected with Allen Hurns and T.J. Yeldon on touchdown strikes, and he certainly looks like he is ready to take another step forward. As long as Allen Robinson, Hurns and Julius Thomas can stay healthy, Bortles will be a solid QB1 in all fantasy formats.

Jaguars | Coach happy with Blake Bortles

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 05:55:49 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley has been happy with QB Blake Bortles even though he has completed only 56.9% of his passes with four interceptions during team drills. "I've been very, very pleased with Blake; very excited about him," Bradley said. "He has a stronger command of the offense and he's playing with good poise. If there's a mistake made, he reacts quicker to it and recovers quicker from it."

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is coming off a terrific 2015 season when he posted 4,428 yards and 35 touchdowns. He will have plenty of weapons to work with in the passing game and should be a solid No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles commanding offense

Sun, 31 Jul 2016 18:23:43 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles is "owning" the offense more this year, head coach Gus Bradley said Sunday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is coming off a big season, and he has plenty of weapons at his disposal in the passing game. He is firmly in the QB1 conversation.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles liked to go deep

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 10:27:06 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles was tied for first with Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers in completions of at least 25 yards (39), and he was ninth in completions (355), sixth in attempts (606) and seventh in yards (4,428). However, Bortles also had 23 total turnovers in 2015, only a 58.6 completion percentage and took 51 sacks.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles made big strides last year with Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns also taking the next step in production. The Jacksonville offense is expected to continue improving, too, which is a scary thought. Bortles, if he stays healthy, should be a legitimate QB1 worth taking a look at in the early middle rounds.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles talks with other QBs

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 14:12:47 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles talked with Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer this offseason to see how he could improve his play.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is coming off a solid 2015 season and will have one of the better wide receiver groups to work with in the NFL. Owners should consider Bortles as a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles in line for extension

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 14:00:40 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will receive a contract extension as soon as the collective bargaining agreement allows the Jaguars to sign him in 2017.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles recorded 4,428 yards, 35 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in 2015 and will have all of his top receivers back this season. He should be a solid starting quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Rashad Greene starting in slot

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 19:18:53 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Rashad Greene has seen a majority of his reps as the first-team slot receiver, and he said he and QB Blake Bortles are becoming more comfortable working with each other.

Fantasy Tip: Greene figures to be the fourth option in a loaded Jacksonville passing attack. His value is limited to deeper PPR formats.

Jaguars | Julius Thomas busy at OTAs

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 19:52:37 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas' situation is much more stable this season, as he and QB Blake Bortles are building rapport during the offseason program. "Julius looks good," offensive coordinator Greg Olson said Monday, June 6. "Guys that have been here have been relatively healthy and Julius has been one of those guys, so he's been able to get a lot of reps and a lot of work in so far."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has posted 29 touchdowns over the past three seasons, which is even more than Seattle's Jimmy Graham and New England's Rob Gronkowski during the same span. If Thomas can stay healthy he is a tremendous sleeper for fantasy owners in the middle rounds on draft day.

Jaguars | Faster pace for Jacksonville offense?

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 10:16:13 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville offense have been practicing more of a no-huddle offense this offseason. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said the coaching staff felt like Bortles felt comfortable with the two-minute offense and they wanted to use more of that.

Fantasy Tip: Even if the Jaguars use a more fast paced offense, Bortles is almost certainly due for a worse season to some degree. It will be difficult to match or exceed his the 4,428 yards and 35 touchdowns he threw for a year ago, not to mention an ideally more established run game with T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory. Bortles is in low-end QB1 territory entering the 2016 season.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles meets with Julius Thomas

Fri, 27 May 2016 13:53:34 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said he met with TE Julius Thomas multiple times this offseason because he wants the same chemistry with Thomas that he had last year. "We had a chance this offseason to sit down multiple times, watch film and talk about things," Bortles said. "Talk about what he wanted from me and what I wanted from him and how we can quickly get on the same page to grow together."

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is coming off a solid 2015 season and will have plenty of weapons to work with this upcoming season. Thomas missed four games because of injury but was still able to record 455 yards and five touchdowns. Bortles should be considered a starting candidate in most leagues, while Thomas could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper leagues.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles in better situation

Sun, 15 May 2016 11:36:33 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will be able to jump into offseason work right away on his own because he knows the offense now, as opposed to last year when he waiting for instruction, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles really improved in his sophomore season last year, throwing for over 4,400 yards and 35 touchdowns en route to high-end QB1 status. He still has to work on throwing fewer interceptions, but he's a QB1 candidate again this season.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles happy with new center

Fri, 13 May 2016 18:32:16 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said it was a good move to have OG Brandon Linder take over the starting center spot, and Bortles said Linder has been doing well with the transition.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles already has plenty of weapons to throw to, and his numbers should only improve if Jacksonville can sure up its offensive line. Unless you play in a format that greatly penalizes interceptions, Bortles should be viewed a QB1 candidate.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles excited about Marqise Lee

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 21:31:02 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said it has been hard to build chemistry with WR Marqise Lee because of all Lee's injuries, but he said the receiver brings something special to the table.

Fantasy Tip: Lee has explosive ability, but even when healthy, he now finds himself a part of a crowded receiving corps. At best, he is a late-round lottery ticket at this point.

Jaguars | Bigger role for Julius Thomas?

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 21:19:17 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas is the best pass-catching tight end in the NFL, according to WR Allen Robinson, and QB Blake Bortles expects to have better chemistry with Thomas in their second year together.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas showed flashes of his upside down the stretch last season, and if he can stay healthy, which is no guarantee, he should be a top-five fantasy tight end.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles' development to go faster

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 12:33:19 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will have his development accelerated, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson, who said he and the Jaguars are comfortable enough with the quarterback to do so.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is coming off a 35-touchdown season, and definitely made improvements in his sophomore campaign. He still threw 18 interceptions, but the upside is obvious. He may still not be a solidified starting fantasy quarterback, butting he's getting there.

NFL | Paxton Lynch compared to Blake Bortles

Sat, 23 Jan 2016 20:55:13 -0800

Former University of Memphis QB Paxton Lynch is being trained by former Univeristy of Central Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Taaffe, and Taaffe said Lynch has a stronger arm than Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles, who played for Central Florida when Taaffe was the coordinator.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, and while he has excellent physical tools, there may be a bit of an adjustment period as he learns to play under center.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles tops in interceptions

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 16:42:54 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles led all quarterbacks this season with 18 interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: Peyton Manning may have led the league in picks if he had played the whole season, but Bortles still showed his sometimes erratic quarterback play despite an otherwise solid sophomore season. He did throw for 4,428 yards and 35 touchdowns, but he must cut down on the interceptions if he wants to become a consistent QB1 as his career gets going.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles has broken thumb

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 10:32:30 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (thumb) suffered a broken thumb on his non-throwing hand in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Thankfully for any Bortles owners, this comes as the season winds down. Bortles and the Jaguars passing game broke out in 2015, and he finished as a top-five fantasy passer. His thumb should be healed in plenty of time for next year, and he'll be squarely in the discussion as a legitimate QB1 in fantasy drafts.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles limps to finish line

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 16:44:10 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed 17 of his 32 pass attempts for 239 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 17 game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles will certainly have better days, as is evidenced from his season total of 4,428 yards and 35 touchdowns. He will be a certain Top 10 fantasy option at his position heading into 2016 after going mostly undrafted in standard fantasy formats in 2015.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles tosses four scores

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 18:45:54 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed 27 of his 35 pass attempts for 368 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in a 38-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles went over 4,000 yards for the year, and he is up to 35 passing touchdowns. He is worth considering as a starting option at FantasyScore on an every-week basis.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles has solid outing

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 14:37:29 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles went 23-for-38 for 297 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15. He also rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown on six carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles has thrown for nine touchdowns in his last three games and at least 250 yards in each of his last four games. He will be facing the New Orleans Saints in Week 16 and could be a sleeper option for owners in most leagues.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles has four second-half scores

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:38:49 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles passed for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth score Sunday, Dec. 13, as the Jaguars beat the Indianapolis Colts 51-16. Bortles threw for 250 yards on 16 of 30 passing and threw TDs to WR Allen Hurns, WR Allen Robinson and TE Julius Thomas.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) played perhaps his best game in his short Jaguars career. Bortles is actually a decent FantasyScore pickup and the Jaguars are no longer the league's bottom feeder.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles tosses five TDs

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 22:58:12 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed 24 of his 36 pass attempts for 322 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 13 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles has thrown at least two touchdowns in seven of the past eight games, and nine of the past 11. The 300-yard game was his second straight, and fifth time in the past eight starts. He has emerged as a must-start FantasyScore option heading into next week's game against the Indianapolis Colts and their shaky secondary.

Jaguars | Allen Robinson, Bortles top deep combo

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 14:40:56 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles leads the NFL with 50 completions of 20 yards or more, while Jaguars WR Allen Robinson is tops in the NFL with 21 catches of 20 yards or more.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson and Blake Bortles have become one of the best deep-threat combinations in all the NFL. They're still young and still have improvements to make, but the future is bright for the Jacksonville offense. Bortles and Robinson face an average pass defense in the Tennessee Titans next week. Bortles is not the most reliable fantasy quarterback, but he's still worth a look on FantasyScore for Week 13. Robinson played very well against the Titans in their first meeting this year; he should be regarded as a WR2 this week.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles could set team records

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 16:54:39 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles is on pace to break the Jaguars' single-season record for touchdown passes and passing yards.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles stills shows signs of being a second-year quarterback, but he has still improved greatly compared to his rookie season. He shouldn't be considered a top starting option this week, though, against San Diego Chargers defense that has defended the pass well this year.

Jaguars | Mixed numbers for Blake Bortles

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 14:35:06 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles was 22 of 45 for 188 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, Nov. 15, as the Jaguars scored a 22-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) wasn't overly impressive, but he got the job done well enough to help Jacksonville win. Still, he has thrown an interception in five straight games and had nearly 400 yards against the New York Jets the week before. He just has to do a better job.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles to be a nice sleeper?

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 22:58:29 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles might be a nice sleeper heading into Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens, a pass defense which ranks 29th in the NFL by allowing 283.9 yards per game through the air. The Ravens have given up 33 pass plays of 20 or more yards, and eight pass plays of 40 or more yards.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) has slowly been shedding the stigma of being the Jacksonville quarterback, and is getting props from FantasyScore players for his decent stat lines. Plus, having a strong cadre of receivers like Allen Hurns ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) and Allen Robinson ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) doesn't hurt.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles struggles in Week 9

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 15:49:07 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles threw for 381 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Week 9 at the New York Jets, but he tossed two interceptions and lost a fumble. Bortles completed 24 of his 40 attempts.

Fantasy Tip: The fantasy line isn't terrible against what is a typically strong pass defense. Bortles is an improving albeit fringe matchup play.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles throws two TDs

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 11:00:35 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles went 13-for-29 for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Week 7 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles has thrown nine touchdowns over his last three games but also has five interceptions during that span. Bortles has been a bit inconsistent this season and is not a weekly starting option for fantasy owners.

Jaguars | Big Week 7 for Blake Bortles?

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 15:57:45 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles had a giant stat line in Week 6 against the Houston Texans, and he could be in line for another strong game in Week 7 against the Buffalo Bills. The Bills have allowed 921 passing yards, nine touchdowns and one interception with a quarterback rating of 105.1 in their past three home games.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) and the Jags will meet the Bills in Wembley Stadium in London, and he has the chance to put up some big numbers against a leaky Buffalo pass defense. Remember him in FantasyScore next Sunday morning.

Jaguars | Another pick-six for Blake Bortles

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 14:22:44 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles has thrown six pick-six interceptions in 19 career starts. His latest came in a 31-20 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is a little too high-priced for FantasyScore, especially with rumors about Jacksonville coach Gus Bradley's job on the line. His ability to throw one pick-six every three games is a regressive stat. Bortles has gotten better, but you have to watch him.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles listed as probable

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 15:17:43 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 16, and is probable for Week 6 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) blew up for 303 yards and four touchdowns last week against a weak Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary. He faces another shaky defense in the Texans this week and should have another solid outing for FantasyScore gamers looking to save a little money at quarterback.

Jaguars | Full practice for Blake Bortles

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 15:56:53 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) should be good to go for Sunday as long as he doesn't aggravate his shoulder injury. He's not a bad sleeper play on FantasyScore in Week 6 facing a mediocre Houston Texans pass defense.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles has full practice

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 13:01:54 -0700

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has an AC joint sprain, so he still may not be at full health. He offers good value and has a decent matchup against the Houston Texans, but there is some risk involved.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles to practice

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 10:07:34 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder) will practice Wednesday, Oct. 14, and he said he expects to play in Week 6 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has a good matchup this week, but the sprained AC joint could affect his throwing. He's a risky, low-end buy on FantasyScore.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles can play though injury

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 05:42:05 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder) had orthopedic surgeon Brian Schulz tell him that he can play through his Grade 1 AC joint injury. "On the (grading) scale, it's the least severe, but it's pretty painful," Schulz said. "He's going to be quite tender. It may affect his throwing, but players can bounce back from this injury pretty quickly. It depends on how he responds to the treatment. It's definitely possible he can play this weekend."

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has a good matchup this week, but it really doesn't make sense to expose him to J.J. Watt and the Houston Texans if he's injured. Bortles could change our minds in practice, but he's an avoid on FantasyScore this week.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles' throwing arm hurt

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 12:16:48 -0700

Updating previous reports, Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles' (shoulder) sprained his throwing shoulder Sunday, Oct. 11, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is uncertain if Bortles will be able to play in Week 6 versus the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles has been uncharacteristically solid in so far in his sophomore campaign. His status will need to be monitored throughout the week, but he has become a serious contender for an every-week starter, especially if the rest of one's quarterbacks are under producing.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles likely to sit Wednesday

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 10:53:36 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder) likely will not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14, but that should not indicate his status for the Week 6 game against the Houston Texans, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should look for information on Bortles' status later in the week because he could be in danger if he misses several practices in a row. Owners should probably look for other options to use in their lineups.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles suffers injury

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 10:06:48 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder) suffered a Grade 1 shoulder sprain during the team's Week 5 game and his status will be updated later in the week, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to see if Bortles is able to practice this week to have an idea on his status for the Week 6 game against the Houston Texans. He has posted solid numbers over the first five games of the season but should not be considered a starting option at this point.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles tosses four TDs

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 18:09:02 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed 23 of his 33 pass attempts for 303 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in the Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also ran once for 21 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has emerged as a solid mid-tier FantasyScore option when the matchup is favorable, especially since he has two unheralded receivers in Allen Hurns ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Allen Robinson ($4,900, 9.8% of cap).

Jaguars | Jacksonville offense stagnant

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 16:21:43 -0700

The Jacksonville Jaguars and QB Blake Bortles are scoring only 15.5 points per game through four games, which is worse than their mark last year (15.6) when they had five rookie starters. Head coach Gus Bradley said there was added emphasis on attention to detail this week, and he expects a more efficient offense moving forward.

Fantasy Tip: Forget the lackluster Jaguars offense for a bit in Week 5 with them facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is a solid daily matchup for Bortles ($5,000, 10.0% of cap), and he could reward handsomely for those willing to take the risk with him as a sleeper quarterback.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles adequate against Indy

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 15:13:10 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles threw for 298 yards and was 28-for-50 from the field in a 16-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) really couldn't get the offense going much, save for one short touchdown pass. The team is getting better, but analyze Bortles' matchups before putting him in.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles a sleeper play in Week 4?

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 21:05:09 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles might be a sleeper in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts, as he enters with multi-touchdown games in each of his past two starts. The Colts also have a banged up secondary, and rank 21st against the pass allowing 261.0 yards per game with 14 or more pass plays of 20 or more yards allowed, tied for worst in the AFC.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($4,700, 7.4% of cap) had plenty of passing chances last week in New England, as the Jags scrapped the run game and were pass-happy playing from behind. The Jaguars could be in a similar spot against an angry Colts team, leading to more passing chances for Bortles. FantasyScore players will find him to be a tremendous mid-tier option, especially if you want to save salary to spread across other positions.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles coming of age

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed 18 of his 33 pass attempts for 273 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins. He also ran twice for 27 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) looked like a first-round pick in this victory, using his poise and skills to help the Jags to a rare victory in September. If he continues to play like this his cheap FantasyScore price tag won't last for long.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles is convinced RB T.J. Yeldon can be an every-down back and said he is "excited to see what he can do with multiple carries, catches and protection."

Fantasy Tip: Yeldon ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is listed as the starter and comes at a friendly price at FantasyScore, but trusting a rookie back facing a tough Week 1 matchup against Carolina is a risky move.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles tightened up mechanics

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 23:49:51 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles improved his mechanics in the offseason. He shortened his windup, lengthened his follow-through and cleaned up some footwork. The tweaks have improved his accuracy. He's hitting receivers in stride on crossing routes, fitting throws into small windows and putting balls where they're going to be catches by his receivers or incompletions this preseason. He has a 65.0% completion percentage. Bortles has also been sacked just twice this preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is a QB2 that has the upside to enter the low-end QB1 range.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles shows off legs

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 11:57:02 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles ran for 38 yards on four attempts Friday, Aug. 28, against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles was second to Russell Wilson with seven rushes of 20 or more yards last season. In total, he ran for 419 yards in his rookie year. If Bortles can improve his passing and maintain his effective running, he'll be a nice sleeper this year, but still shouldn't be drafted as a QB1.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles continues solid preseason

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 21:11:20 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed 20 of 29 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown and ran for 35 yards in a 22-17 loss to the Detroit Lions in the preseason Friday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is completing 75% of his passes in the preseason and hasn't thrown an interception. Draft him as a mid-range QB2 in seasonal leagues, but he could be worth an occasional start for DFS purposes.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles likes offense

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 15:34:06 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said this year's offense is the best offense he's been a part of in his three years, including college. "I've enjoyed learning it. I've enjoyed trying to master it, and that's what I'll continue to do," Bortles said. Bortles appreciates how offensive coordinator Greg Olson has been able to adapt to different offensive players.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles definitely played like last season was his first, throwing 11 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 14 games. If he does enjoy this offense more and feels more comfortable with it, he should be able to rebound in his sophomore season.
