Jaguars | Blake Bortles liked to go deep

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 10:27:06 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles was tied for first with Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers in completions of at least 25 yards (39), and he was ninth in completions (355), sixth in attempts (606) and seventh in yards (4,428). However, Bortles also had 23 total turnovers in 2015, only a 58.6 completion percentage and took 51 sacks.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles made big strides last year with Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns also taking the next step in production. The Jacksonville offense is expected to continue improving, too, which is a scary thought. Bortles, if he stays healthy, should be a legitimate QB1 worth taking a look at in the early middle rounds.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles talks with other QBs

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 14:12:47 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles talked with Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer this offseason to see how he could improve his play.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is coming off a solid 2015 season and will have one of the better wide receiver groups to work with in the NFL. Owners should consider Bortles as a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles in line for extension

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 14:00:40 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will receive a contract extension as soon as the collective bargaining agreement allows the Jaguars to sign him in 2017.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles recorded 4,428 yards, 35 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in 2015 and will have all of his top receivers back this season. He should be a solid starting quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Rashad Greene starting in slot

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 19:18:53 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Rashad Greene has seen a majority of his reps as the first-team slot receiver, and he said he and QB Blake Bortles are becoming more comfortable working with each other.

Fantasy Tip: Greene figures to be the fourth option in a loaded Jacksonville passing attack. His value is limited to deeper PPR formats.

Jaguars | Julius Thomas busy at OTAs

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 19:52:37 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas' situation is much more stable this season, as he and QB Blake Bortles are building rapport during the offseason program. "Julius looks good," offensive coordinator Greg Olson said Monday, June 6. "Guys that have been here have been relatively healthy and Julius has been one of those guys, so he's been able to get a lot of reps and a lot of work in so far."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has posted 29 touchdowns over the past three seasons, which is even more than Seattle's Jimmy Graham and New England's Rob Gronkowski during the same span. If Thomas can stay healthy he is a tremendous sleeper for fantasy owners in the middle rounds on draft day.

Jaguars | Faster pace for Jacksonville offense?

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 10:16:13 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville offense have been practicing more of a no-huddle offense this offseason. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said the coaching staff felt like Bortles felt comfortable with the two-minute offense and they wanted to use more of that.

Fantasy Tip: Even if the Jaguars use a more fast paced offense, Bortles is almost certainly due for a worse season to some degree. It will be difficult to match or exceed his the 4,428 yards and 35 touchdowns he threw for a year ago, not to mention an ideally more established run game with T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory. Bortles is in low-end QB1 territory entering the 2016 season.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles meets with Julius Thomas

Fri, 27 May 2016 13:53:34 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said he met with TE Julius Thomas multiple times this offseason because he wants the same chemistry with Thomas that he had last year. "We had a chance this offseason to sit down multiple times, watch film and talk about things," Bortles said. "Talk about what he wanted from me and what I wanted from him and how we can quickly get on the same page to grow together."

Fantasy Tip: Bortles is coming off a solid 2015 season and will have plenty of weapons to work with this upcoming season. Thomas missed four games because of injury but was still able to record 455 yards and five touchdowns. Bortles should be considered a starting candidate in most leagues, while Thomas could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper leagues.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles in better situation

Sun, 15 May 2016 11:36:33 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will be able to jump into offseason work right away on his own because he knows the offense now, as opposed to last year when he waiting for instruction, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles really improved in his sophomore season last year, throwing for over 4,400 yards and 35 touchdowns en route to high-end QB1 status. He still has to work on throwing fewer interceptions, but he's a QB1 candidate again this season.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles happy with new center

Fri, 13 May 2016 18:32:16 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said it was a good move to have OG Brandon Linder take over the starting center spot, and Bortles said Linder has been doing well with the transition.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles already has plenty of weapons to throw to, and his numbers should only improve if Jacksonville can sure up its offensive line. Unless you play in a format that greatly penalizes interceptions, Bortles should be viewed a QB1 candidate.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles excited about Marqise Lee

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 21:31:02 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said it has been hard to build chemistry with WR Marqise Lee because of all Lee's injuries, but he said the receiver brings something special to the table.

Fantasy Tip: Lee has explosive ability, but even when healthy, he now finds himself a part of a crowded receiving corps. At best, he is a late-round lottery ticket at this point.
