Bills | Sammy Watkins out of action

Thu, 18 May 2017 08:30:20 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is not participating in the organized team activities Thursday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has shown equal ability on the field as his propensity for injury. His 60-1,047-9 campaign in 2015 over 13 games had him as a high-end WR2 last year before another foot injury. He'll enter 2017 as a high-risk WR2 that could fall into the WR3 area and handsomely reward you.

Bills | Sammy Watkins' extension not a priority

Fri, 05 May 2017 09:03:24 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins is not expected to receive an extension offer during the season, according to the Buffalo News's Vic Carucci, who believes new head coach Sean McDermott's big-picture vision for the roster doesn't include a huge investment in a receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has proven to be a dominant force when he can stay on the field but playing 21 of a possible 32 games over the last two seasons isn't helping his cause. Buffalo recently declined his fifth-year team option, so it is beginning to look like they'll be one of the more sought-after free agents in 2018. Almost regardless of where he might land, he should be no worse than a fantasy WR2 this year and beyond.

Bills | No option for Sammy Watkins

Tue, 02 May 2017 12:25:11 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins will not have his fifth-year option picked up, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: This move, or lack of a move, makes sense for the Bills. Watkins is easily Buffalo's best receiver, but he has begun a track record of not being able to stay on the field after missing 11 total games the last two years. Watkins is a high-risk, high-reward pick and should be drafted as a low-end WR2.

Bills | Sammy Watkins' option may not be picked up

Fri, 28 Apr 2017 18:32:41 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins' (foot) fifth-year option likely will not be picked up before the May 2 deadline, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is recovering from foot surgery and has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons. He should continue to be the Bills' No. 1 receiver in 2017 and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Bills | BUF might not pick up Sammy Watkins' option

Sat, 15 Apr 2017 07:04:29 -0700

The Buffalo Bills have not yet determined if they will pick up the fifth-year option on WR Sammy Watkins' rookie contract but the matter will be discussed internally over the next few weeks, according to a source. He is currently under contract for one more season with a salary cap hit of $6.343 million but if the option is picked up, Watkins would cost the team approximately $13 million against the cap in 2018. A decision will be made by May 2.

Fantasy Tip: Although it appears likely that the club will pick up Watkins' option, the matter is up for debate because of his recent injury history. He has missed 11 games over the last two seasons and is currently recovering from a second foot surgery. When healthy, Watkins should be viewed as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3 in most fantasy formats.

Bills | Sammy Watkins on track

Mon, 03 Apr 2017 09:49:18 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) has had no setbacks and looks good, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has been dogged by injuries in his three-year career. He's probably still a low-end WR2 in fantasy, but the health risk is very real.

Bills | Sammy Watkins still on schedule

Tue, 28 Mar 2017 16:21:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) has not had any setbacks in his rehabilitation from offseason foot surgery, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is perennially a risky proposition at wide receiver in the fantasy realm. He has not played a full season since his rookie year in 2014 and has missed 11 games over the last two seasons. The WR1 potential is obvious, especially with Tyrod Taylor, but Watkins has no finished higher than WR15 in his three years in the NFL. He is a low-end WR2 consideration even with the positive news.

Bills | Sammy Watkins on schedule

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 10:04:15 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is on schedule in his recovery from offseason foot surgery, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins underwent a second operation on his foot after the season and probably will not do much until training camp begins. He will be the Bills' No. 1 receiver in 2017 and probably should be considered a No. 3 option for fantasy owners because of his injury history.

Bills | Robert Woods happy with role

Fri, 24 Feb 2017 20:29:19 -0800

Buffalo Bills impending free-agent WR Robert Woods said he would have no problem continuing to serve as the No. 2 option behind WR Sammy Watkins in Buffalo's passing attack.

Fantasy Tip: Woods could sign elsewhere in the offseason, but he is likely to be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver wherever he ends up. Heading into 2017, he projects as a WR4 for fantasy purposes.
