Titans | More on Bishop Sankey's progress

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 10:17:30 -0700

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has impressed his coaches with improvement this preseason. "I think Bishop made significant improvement last week in practices as far as getting downhill and hitting the hole and it showed up in the game," running backs coach Sylvester Croom said. "That is something he has to continue to work on. I think from the first game to the last game his improvement was significant, and he played with a lot of confidence. He has to continue to work on that where it is consistently done that way. Pass protection, assignment-wise, he is doing a good job, but we still have to improve on technique. He needs to make the running style consistent."

Fantasy Tip: Sankey in on the bubble of the RB2/RB3 range but appears to be in good shape with David Cobb (calf) struggling to stay on the field.

Titans | Bishop Sankey showing improvement

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 10:16:01 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey had 45 yards on six carries in the team's second preseason game against the St. Louis Rams, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt saw improvement from Sankey from the first week of the preseason. Sankey had just 15 yards on eight carries in Week 1 of the preseason against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen if Sankey's improvement will be enough to hold off impressive rookie David Cobb, who appears to be in line for the majority of work in the backfield. Even if Cobb wins the starting job, Sankey could see meaningful repetitions and be valuable for running back depth in deeper fantasy leagues as a handcuff to Cobb.

Titans | Bishop Sankey solid Sunday

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 20:22:22 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey had six carries for 45 yards in a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: After struggling in the first preseason game, Sankey found some running against the Rams. He should open the year as the starter, but David Cobb figures to cut into his carries. Consider Sankey a low-end RB3.

Titans | David Cobb to overtake Bishop Sankey?

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 11:59:58 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb could end up with more carries than RB Bishop Sankey by the end of the season, according to Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: This, of course, remains to be seen, but Sankey is expected to start at the beginning of the season. Sankey doesn't seem like the type of running back that will run away with a starting gig. Cobb should see a fair amount of opportunities. He's a prospective low-end RB3 or high-end RB4 if he can get enough touches.

Titans | Line to blame for Bishop Sankey's play?

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 18:04:18 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey averaged just 1.9 yards per carry on eight rushing attempts in a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons Friday, Aug. 14, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt said some of Sankey's issues could be blamed on the play of the offensive line.

Fantasy Tip: While Sankey received support from his coach, RB David Cobb had no trouble running wild in the same game. If Sankey doesn't start fast in 2015, don't be surprised if Cobb starts to steal carries. For now, consider Sankey a mid-range RB3.

Titans | Marcus Mariota runs option play

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 17:54:15 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota ran an option-based play during practice Sunday, Aug. 16. Operating out of shotgun, Mariota faked a handoff to RB Bishop Sankey before sprinting to the left and throwing a slightly forward pass to WR Harry Douglas.

Fantasy Tip: The coaching staff has said it plans to install some plays that take advantage of Mariota's running ability, but despite the added dynamic, he should still be viewed as a low-end QB2 this season.

Titans | Bishop Sankey leading the backfield

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 05:58:57 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has received the most first-team repetitions in training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey fell flat last season but enters 2015 as a midrange RB3. His stock could continue to grow with a strong preseason because he looks like he has the lead role.

Titans | Committee to be used in TEN?

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 13:37:22 -0700

Tennessee Titans RBs Bishop Sankey and David Cobb could lead a running back by committee this season, according to ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky. RBs Antonio Andrews and Dexter McCluster would also be in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey should still see the majority of playing time out of the backfield to start the season, but the Titans do have a few capable running backs at their disposal. Cobb and Andrews are nice sleepers, but shouldn't be drafted until later rounds. Sankey should be viewed as no more than a RB3.

Titans | Bishop Sankey likely to start

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 05:17:07 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey is the odds-on favorite to start in Week 1 because he has a year of experience and a full offseason under his belt.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey doesn't have a lot of competition with David Cobb out much of the offseason with a hamstring injury. Dexter McCluster and Antonio Andrews will battle with Cobb for the backup carries. Sankey is a midrange RB3 with room to grow.

Titans | Confidence high for Antonio Andrews

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 20:32:18 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews feels confident he can crack the roster, and is shooting for a starting tailback job in training camp and the preseason. "I am just going for a starting spot, whether it is Bishop Sankey, Dexter McCluster, David Cobb, Jalston Fowler or Connor Neighbors, I am just trying to be the No. 1 guy," Andrews said.

Fantasy Tip: Andrews was a stud in college fantasy football during his days at Western Kentucky, but the NFL is a whole new ball game and he is competing for touches in a crowded backfield. Perhaps he gets a chance to show what he can do, but for now Fantasy players should only monitor his progress. It is premature to add him to cheat sheets at this juncture, as everyone is confident heading into a new year.

Titans | Bishop Sankey happy with more OTAs

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 15:11:27 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey believes participating in more organized team activities this offseason has helped him a lot. Sankey missed most of last year's OTAs due to PAC-12 school rules. "I've been able to kind of start from scratch," Sankey said. "I definitely feel more comfortable with pass protection, initial reads with running plays and everything."

Fantasy Tip: Sankey is expected to start in front of Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster despite a disappointing 2014 rookie campaign. He's had a good offseason so far and is more comfortable with the offense, so things are looking up for Sankey in his sophomore season. He should be drafted as a RB4 with low-end RB3 upside.

Titans | Bishop Sankey impressive

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 11:29:32 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has looked impressive during non-contact drills this offseason, in the opinion of The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt. Sankey did not participate in offseason workouts last year because of school commitments.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey likely will share some of his carries with the other running backs on the roster but should see a majority of the carries during the season. Sankey could be an option in the middle rounds of draft probably should not be seen as a weekly starting option.

Titans | Bishop Sankey asked to add weight

Wed, 27 May 2015 18:59:38 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has been asked by the team to add some weight this offseason, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. The team would like him to be around 215 to 220 pounds. Whisenhunt said he would also like Sankey to have a full grasp of the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey rushed for 569 yards and only two touchdowns last season but should see most of the carries this upcoming season. Sankey could be an option in the middle rounds of drafts this season but may not be an every-week starting option.

Titans | Shonn Greene featured in Week 15

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 07:44:11 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene had a season-high 16 carries for 50 yards Sunday, Dec. 14. Greene had 16 carries in the previous five games combined. RB Bishop Sankey had just three carries for eight yards.

Fantasy Tip: We still expect Sankey to see considerable work in the final two games, but he's not a sure thing on FantasyScore.

Titans | Bishop Sankey does not have concussion

Mon, 24 Nov 2014 13:34:46 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey (stinger) suffered a stinger in Week 12 and did not suffer a concussion, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to watch to see if he is able to practice this week. Sankey probably is not an every-week starting option but could be a useful player against certain teams.

Titans | Concussion symptoms for Bishop Sankey

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 15:12:42 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey (concussion) was dealing with concussion symptoms after the Week 12 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey finished with 10 carries for a team-high 37 yards, and he added two receptions for 14 yards. FantasyScore owners will want to wait until late next week's official injury report to see his status for Week 13 against the Houston Texans.

Titans | O-line holding back Bishop Sankey?

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 09:00:25 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey currently ranks fifth among rookie running backs this year with 360 yards, and he's averaging 3.9 yards per carry, and he has just one carry longer than 20 yards in 92 chances. He had 38 yards on his first nine carries in Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens, but produced just 20 yards on his final eight carries. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said the offensive line needs to do a better job of opening up holes for the rookie running back. The team is choosing to use RB Leon Washington in third down situations. "I think Bishop will still get a chance to protect and to catch passes on first and second down," Whisenhunt said. "But one of the things you try to be consistent with is the protection and working together with those things on third down."

Fantasy Tip: Sankey is waiting for his breakout game, and it could come in Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. However, the O-line must improve, and the rookie is more of a flex option for your FantasyScore lineups.

Titans | Bishop Sankey does not seize chance

Wed, 05 Nov 2014 20:05:40 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey carried 43 times for 152 yards, a 3.5-yard average, when RB Shonn Greene (hamstring) was inactive for two games and limited to two snaps in a third outing. In games Sankey shared the load with Greene, the rookie Sankey averaged 4.7 yards per carry.

Fantasy Tip: At $3,600 (or 7.2 percent of the cap), Sankey is a decent low-end RB2 or flex play to save salary at other spots. He is expected to get a majority of the totes for the Titans for now.

Titans | Head coach praises Bishop Sankey

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 18:33:29 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey was praised by head coach Ken Whisenhunt Monday, Oct. 13. The coach said Sankey's nerves were a bit of a factor early in the Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but that he is getting better and the coaching staff is excited about Sankey.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey has some upside, but he is still not someone to rely upon in fantasy leagues on a week-to-week basis. He is a rookie, and with rookies come some spurts and some growing pains.

Titans | Bishop Sankey ready for bigger role

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 19:05:56 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey is ready for a bigger role in the offense should RB Shonn Greene (hamstring) be unable to suit up in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: The Jaguars rank 22nd against the rush, allowing 126.6 yards per game with four rushing touchdowns allowed. Sankey might be a solid FantasyScore value at $5500 (11.0 percent of the salary cap).

Titans | Bishop Sankey reduced in Week 5

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 07:13:07 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey played just 22 snaps, or 32 percent of the offense, in Week 5. The team previously said they'd use him more, but his utilization numbers continue to fall.

Fantasy Tip: He's still a possibility on FantasyScore in that one prime matchup. Maybe it's in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Titans | Bishop Sankey's reps to increase

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 08:40:41 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey is likely to see more work in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns than he has in his first four games, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said on his radio show Tuesday on 104.5 FM The Zone. In the last two weeks, Sankey has been on the field for 22 and 29 snaps, the highest totals of any Titans running back. Whisenhunt again noted that Sankey's footwork has improved.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey was listed in our Week 5 studs report because of his increasing workload and the highly favorable matchup with the Cleveland Browns. His reasonable $5,500 price in FantasyScore (a mere 11.0% of a player's salary cap) says daily gamers should be happy to take the chance on him.

Titans | Bishop Sankey's footwork improving

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 07:34:05 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey's footwork was a little better in Week 4, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey ($5,500; 11% of your cap) has a tough matchup against Cleveland in Week 5. He had a pedestrian 6-34-1 line last week that was salvaged by the score. He's a very low-end flex option this week on FantasyScore.

Titans | Bishop Sankey set for more snaps?

Tue, 23 Sep 2014 18:16:26 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey was on the field for a season-high 27 snaps in Week 3, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Sankey's play will dictate his future snap totals. "He's got good vision, and he looks to have good movement skills," Whisenhunt said. "What I didn't like is attention to detail with him. If he can get the attention to detail better, his reps will increase."

Fantasy Tip: Sankey was productive with his increased role in Week 3, and it is only a matter of time before he becomes the main back for the Titans. That being said, Whisenhunt's comments make it clear that Sankey still needs to work on some things before he will take over the lead-back role. Until Sankey is receiving a majority of the carries, he is a risky option at FantasyScore.

Titans | Bishop Sankey's footwork shaky

Tue, 23 Sep 2014 05:19:15 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey's footwork is still an issue of concern to head coach Ken Whisenhunt, despite Sankey's 10-carry, 60-yard performance in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey ($5,000; 10% of your cap) has a poor matchup in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts and is a low-end flex option on FantasyScore. There are better options when Sankey isn't getting many carries, and the Titans could abandon the run early against the high-powered Colts.

Titans | Bishop Sankey improving

Mon, 25 Aug 2014 05:54:40 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey, who has had fumbling issues due to poor footwork before the hand-off, was better in that regard in the third preseason game over the weekend. Sankey had 16 carries for 44 yards in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey has upside as an RB3.

Titans | Bishop Sankey's fumble issues correctable

Tue, 19 Aug 2014 07:30:14 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey is not a fumbler, and his issues are related to footwork and technique, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: Good news that they're not overreacting to his recent scuffles. Sankey remains the top option in a likely committee backfield, which still justifies a pick somewhere in Round 4 or 5 as an RB2.

Titans | Bishop Sankey loses fumble

Fri, 15 Aug 2014 21:47:45 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey had six runs for 31 yards in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 15, against the New Orleans Saints, but he also lost a fumble after an issue on the exchange with QB Zach Mettenberger, something which has reportedly been an issue throughout camp.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey is running as the third-team running back behind Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster. He needs to hang onto the ball, and likely needs a long-term injury to either Greene or McCluster, to gain relevance in standard fantasy formats.

Titans | Bishop Sankey earning praise

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 18:24:56 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey earned praise from head coach Ken Whisenhunt for his quick cuts and willingness to lower his shoulder during practice Tuesday, July 29. Whisenhunt also said that Sankey was drafted in part because he is a good fit for the offensive system.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey can do it all out of the backfield, and he should be the team's top back this season. He is worth drafting as a low-end RB2 in standard formats with more value in PPR formats.

Titans | Shonn Greene good to go

Fri, 25 Jul 2014 09:52:01 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene (knee) is ready for training camp after missing time in the offseason due to a right knee injury, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: A healthy Greene would be a part of an expected split in the backfield that'll also include rookie Bishop Sankey and Dexter McCluster. Greene is boring but could be serviceable in short-yardage situations, which makes him a fantasy RB5 at least. Sankey has the best chance to stake a claim to the No. 1 spot, which could help decrease his price to a reasonable RB3 in drafts. McCluster could be a surprisingly effective PPR depth grab.

Titans | Bishop Sankey improving

Thu, 24 Jul 2014 15:35:27 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey admitted he's still learning the offense and knows there is room for improvement. Sankey wants to run more detailed routes, know where the yard-lines are, where to take his breaks and work on his pass protection, among other things.

Fantasy Tip: It's to be expected that Sankey still has work to do. The rookie is expected to be the Titans' main running back and should be considered a low-end RB2 in standard leagues.

Thu, 10 Jul 2014 14:37:09 -0700

Tennessee Titans rookie RB Bishop Sankey recently said he's in great shape and is reviewing plays every day with running backs coach Sylvester Croom. Sankey believes he can have a big impact once he gets plays down and used to his teammates

Fantasy Tip: Sankey is expected to get the lion's share of playing time with Shonn Greene, Jackie Battle and maybe even Dexter McCluster in the mix. Sankey should be drafted as a low-end RB2 in standard leagues.

Wed, 18 Jun 2014 12:06:20 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey's deal is worth $3.8 million, including $1.7 million guaranteed and a $1.1 million signing bonus.

Fantasy Tip: It's a deal fit for a starting rookie running back. Sankey should perform up to RB2 numbers in standard leagues in his rookie season.

Mon, 12 May 2014 10:16:34 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene (knee) is expected to be ready for training camp this summer after recently having right knee surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming Greene is healthy entering the regular season, he should receive the majority of carries in this backfield, but it remains to be seen how they'll use Dexter McCluster, and rook Bishop Sankey has the goods to eventually become the main back in Tennessee.

Fri, 09 May 2014 17:45:32 -0700

The Tennessee Titans selected Washington RB Bishop Sankey with the 54th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
