Saints | Brandin Cooks mostly contained

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 21:48:45 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks was targeted eight times in the Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons Monday, Sept. 26, but he posted just two receptions for 13 yards. He also carried once for six yards.

Fantasy Tip: It was a disappointing fantasy performance for Cooks considering there were a total of 77 points scored in the game. Cooks remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues until this kind of performance becomes a regularity. It won't.

Raiders | Sean Smith benched in Week 1

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 10:03:07 -0700

Oakland Raiders CB Sean Smith was benched midway through the third quarter of his team's Week 1 win against the New Orleans Saints after failing to get a bump on WR Brandin Cooks and getting burnt on his 98-yard touchdown catch. "I thought that he had a rough day, so we took him out. He'll be back. He's going to play well for us, but he didn't play well today," head coach Jack Del Rio said of the cornerback who signed a four-year, $40 million with the Raiders this spring.

Saints | Brandin Cooks explodes in opener

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 18:39:38 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks posted six receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 against the Oakland Raiders. The highlight of the game was a 98-yard score in the second half. He was targeted nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks and Willie Snead each had huge stat lines against a very giving Raiders pass defense, and he'll face another favorable matchup in Week 2 at N.Y. Giants. He is a bona fide WR1 in all fantasy formats going forward.

Saints | Brandon Coleman busy in loss

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 22:20:09 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandon Coleman posted six receptions for 47 yards on 10 targets in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Houston Texans. He saw increased work with WRs Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead resting.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman looked good last preseason, but he never did quite emerge as that special fantasy sleeper everyone envisioned. Now, Brandin Cooks is the top banana and a WR1 for fantasy owners, and Willie Snead and rookie Michael Thomas look to be special. It appears Coleman will be the No. 4 wideout in NOLA, and more of a WR5 for fantasy players in most formats.

Saints | Cooks, Snead sitting vs. Texans

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 16:48:23 -0700

New Orleans WR Brandin Cooks and WR Willie Snead will not play in the team's exhibition game against the Houston Texans on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Neither player is known to be dealing with an injury, so the Saints' decision to sit both starters is likely just a way to give rookie Michael Thomas and others behind him on the depth chart plenty of snaps to show their wares. Look for Cooks and Snead to play most of the first half when New Orleans hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers next Friday.

Saints | Brandin Cooks out of practice

Thu, 04 Aug 2016 06:42:45 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (undisclosed) is out of practice Thursday, Aug. 4. Cooks was shaken up at the end of practice the previous day.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks is coming off an 84-1,138-9 sophomore campaign, but this could be the year he could emerge into the WR1 conversation. The Saints landed a legit tight end in Coby Fleener and have other developing receivers, which they seemed to be exposed without at times last season. Cooks is a high-end WR2 with upside.

Saints | Michael Thomas to work as starter?

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 22:59:14 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas has a big body and could be a stud receiver in the red zone. Many project him to be the team's No. 2 wideout behind WR Brandin Cooks.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is worth watching in training camp and the preseason. If the rookie can build rapport with Drew Brees, and the club doesn't look outside of the organization for veteran depth, Thomas might be worth a look as a WR3/4 or flex option in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Saints | Brandin Cooks in line for big year

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 20:05:54 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks managed 1,138 receiving yards last season, and beat writer Nick Underhill sets the floor at 1,200 yards heading into 2016, with Cooks possibly flirting with 1,500 yards if he can stay healthy and post a few big games.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks will be a Top 15 fantasy option at his position. As long as he can stay healthy he has the potential to be a bona fide WR1 by season's end.

Saints | Drew Brees confident in young receivers

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 09:19:08 -0700

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees has confidence in his young corps of wide receivers led by WR Brandin Cooks and WR Willie Snead.

"I think when Drew is out there, he doesn't look at Brandin Cooks as a young player," head coach Sean Payton said. "I don't think he looks at Snead that way anymore because of the experience they've had. There's a combination there of guys that know what to do and how do they fit with the scheme that we're asking of them."

Fantasy Tip: Brees is 37, but he led the league in passing yards last season and completed 68.3% of his passes. The 32 touchdowns limited his output some, but that could increase as the experience with this group increases. Cooks has the ability of a WR1 in fantasy, but he's probably better served as a WR2. Snead amassed 984 yards and three scores last year and is a serviceable WR3. Brandon Coleman is a breakout candidate as a WR4. As for Brees, he's just below the elite tier of fantasy QBs, but he should be one of the first options after the top three are gone.

Saints | Brandin Cooks still not practicing

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 16:53:36 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (undisclosed) worked off to the side with trainers during practice Thursday, June 2.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks will be the Saints' No. 1 wide receiver assuming he's full-go when the season starts. He has added value in PPR leagues, too, after catching 84 passes for over 1,100 yards and nine touchdowns last season. View Cooks as a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2.

Saints | Michael Thomas practices with first team

Thu, 26 May 2016 17:00:18 -0700

New Orleans Saints rookie WR Michael Thomas practiced with the first-team offense during organized team activities Thursday, May 26, with WR Brandin Cooks (undisclosed) missing practice.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas will still play behind Cooks, Willie Snead and Brandon Coleman for now, although he eventually could compete with Coleman for the No. 3 wide receiver spot. As it stands, Thomas is a WR4 consideration.

Saints | Brandin Cooks out of practice

Thu, 26 May 2016 10:46:30 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (undisclosed) is out of practice Thursday, May 26, and working on the side with trainers.

Fantasy Tip: The odds are it's a minor ailment that shouldn't affect his draft stock. He had a decent 84-1,138-9 season last year. He's a solid WR2, and entering that pivotal third year, he has upside.

Saints | Brandin Cooks tops 100 yards

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 18:41:41 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had five catches for 123 yards and a touchdown and four carries for 10 yards in a 38-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has now topped 100 yards in three of his last four games and has three touchdowns during the same span. He has been solid in the second half of the season and has saved his best football for the final weeks.

Saints | Brandin Cooks has big game on MNF

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 22:51:03 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks posted 10 receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Detroit Lions Monday, Dec. 21. He was targeted 13 times.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks had just one 100-yard game over his first 11, but he has hit the century mark twice in the past three games while finding the end zone seven times in the past seven games. He has re-emerged as a must-have WR2 in all fantasy formats.

Saints | Brandin Cooks not involved

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 17:10:57 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks finished with three catches on five targets for 29 yards in a 24-17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: After a hot stretch, Cooks has now delivered two duds in his last three games. He still has solid upside, but he isn't a must-start at FantasyScore by any means.

Saints | Brandin Cooks listed as probable

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 13:15:12 -0800

Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (head) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 11, and is probable to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14, according to head coach Sean Payton.

Fantasy Tip: Well then. It seemed doubtful that Cooks ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) would miss Week 14 when he suffered an apparent concussion in practice yesterday. But it wasn't that serious and he's already been cleared. The Bucs are a top-10 PPR matchup for receivers, so Cooks is a strong FantasyScore play now that he's good to go.

Saints | Brandin Cooks will play

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 11:24:52 -0800

Updating an earlier report, New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (dizziness) apparently did not have a concussion, and he has been cleared to play Sunday, Dec. 13, according to head coach Sean Payton. Cooks experienced dizziness Wednesday, Dec. 9, but he has cleared the concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: There's a bit of a surprise. Cooks ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) is a solid WR2 on FantasyScore against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Saints | Brandin Cooks at practice

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 10:53:45 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (concussion) took part in the early portion of practice Friday, Dec. 11, after he was ruled out with a concussion the previous day.

Fantasy Tip: Fridays are generally walkthroughs, so it's still unlikely he plays against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brandon Coleman ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had a 4-73-1 game last week and could be a basement flyer on FantasyScore.

Saints | Brandin Cooks suffers concussion in practice

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 15:30:59 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (concussion) missed practice Thursday, Dec. 10, due to a concussion. It is not yet known when the concussion took place but it makes him doubtful for Sunday, Dec. 13, versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: This is horrendous news because with Cooks ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) popping up on the injury report for the first time late in the week with his concussion, it seems highly unlikely he'll suit up Sunday. Willie Snead ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has also been limited so if he can't go, Marques Colston ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Brandon Coleman ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could end up being diamonds in the rough for fantasy owners.

Saints | Brandin Cooks keeps rolling

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 17:43:17 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had five catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns and one carry for 11 yards in a 47-14 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) has five touchdowns in his last three games, and after a bit of a slow start to the year, he is starting to live up to expectations.

Saints | Brandin Cooks heating up

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 16:15:27 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had four catches for 71 yards and a touchdown in a 34-29 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: After a mediocre start to the year, Cooks ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has topped 70 yards in four of his last five games and has four touchdowns during the stretch. With the Saints rolling on offense, Cooks has become a solid starting option at FantasyScore.

Saints | Brandin Cooks continues upward trend

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 19:17:52 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks posted six receptions for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Week 8 game against the New York Giants. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) managed just 20 catches for 215 yards with no touchdowns through the first four games, but he has 21 grabs for 317 yards and three scores in the past four outings. He has been targeted at least seven times in seven of his eight games and remains a strong FantasyScore option. However, he faces the NFL's No. 2 pass defense in Week 9 against the Tennessee Titans, so start him at your own peril.

Saints | Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks probable

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 15:26:15 -0700

New Orleans Saints WRs Marques Colston (non-injury) and Brandin Cooks (ankle) both practiced in full Friday, Oct. 9, and are probable for Week 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Coltson ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has fallen down the depth chart but does have four catches in each of the last three weeks. He could be a sleeper pick worth targeting against an Eagles team allowing the fourth-most PPR points (46.3) per game to wideouts. Cooks ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is an even better pick in PPR formats like FantasyScore.

Saints | Brandin Cooks practices in full

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 15:51:13 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) was held to 25 receiving yards in the last game but has been able to record solid stats over the first four games of the season. Cooks could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore because the Eagles struggle against opposing receivers.

Saints | Brandin Cooks limited Wednesday

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 15:58:54 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is still the Saints' top receiving threat, but he hasn't played to his full potential yet this year. This week provides a good matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles, so it's still worth taking a shot on him for your FantasyScore squad(s).

Saints | Brandin Cooks has quiet night

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 22:35:43 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had four receptions for just 25 yards in the Week 4 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints tried to spring Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) for a big play on a short catch and run, but the Cowboys did a good job of bottling him up. He should find more open spaces next weekend for FantasyScore players in his Week 5 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Saints | Brandin Cooks expected to play

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 13:57:34 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 2, and is probable for Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: With Drew Brees (shoulder) coming back for the Saints, FantasyScore gamers should feel much more comfortable going with Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) in this one. He's had at least seven targets in each game so far and has a healthy floor in point-per-reception contests like FantasyScore.

Saints | Limited practice for Brandin Cooks

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 16:53:33 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) had a limited practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) should be able to play if he doesn't suffer a setback this weekend. If Drew Brees doesn't play, Cooks' value will take a little bit of a hit against the Dallas Cowboys. There is better value at wide receiver on FantasyScore for Week 4.

Saints | Brandin Cooks limited

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 15:46:42 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) was able to play last week with the injury and should be able to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. He has posted solid numbers early in the season and could be a solid option for owners.

Saints | Brandin Cooks probable for Week 3

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 15:18:02 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 25, and is listed as probable for the Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) should be ready to play this week but will take a hit in his fantasy value because Luke McCown will be the starting quarterback. Cooks could still be a starting option for owners, but they may want to lower their expectations.

Saints | Brandin Cooks confident he'll play

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 16:22:28 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) is "very confident" that he will play in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has yet to practice this week, so be prepared for him to be questionable and possibly a game-time decision. That complicates matters, especially with Drew Brees (shoulder) unlikely to be 100% this weekend if he plays. On top of it the Panthers are a tough defensive club that could give Brees fits. It's a lot of risk to take on at FantasyScore.

Saints | Brandin Cooks on the sidelines

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 15:43:32 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has missed two days of practice this week and his status for the Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers is uncertain. Owners should see if he can practice Friday, Sept. 25, before deciding on their lineups.

Saints | Brandin Cooks sits out of practice

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 14:47:09 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints are hurting on offense right now with Cooks ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) not practicing and Brees being limited today. They affect the value of each other, so their statuses will need to be monitored leading up to the weekend. Cooks might be a risky investment on FantasyScore this week if he's not fully healthy.

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 07:27:21 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had nine catches (11 targets) for 56 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his lone matchup against them last year.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) has an expanded role this year with Jimmy Graham in Seattle. Cooks was held in check catching four of his eight targets for 49 yards in Week 1. He's a solid WR2 on FantasyScore.

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had four catches for 117 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown, in a preseason game against the New England Patriots Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks should be a safe option as a WR2 this season, and he has a ton of upside thanks to his big-play ability.

Saints | Brandin Cooks wants to play faster

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 12:36:07 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks expects to play at a faster pace in his second season in the NFL. Cooks said he's ahead of where he was last offseason from a mental standpoint and feels that he has unfinished business following a shortened rookie season due to a broken thumb.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks is the go-to guy in the Saints offense now with Jimmy Graham out of the picture. He figures to be the No. 1 wide receiver in New Orleans with Marques Colston on the downward trend at this point in his career. Cooks should be drafted as a WR2 with added value in point-per-reception leagues.

Saints | Brandin Cooks to have big year?

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 15:12:19 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks is primed for a breakout year, according to ESPN.com's Mike Triplett. Triplett believes Cooks can attain 100 catches or 1,000 yards with TE Jimmy Graham and WR Kenny Stills now out of the picture.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks seems to be the go-to guy in the Saints' prolific passing offense with Graham and Stills out of town and Colston past his prime. Cooks will have plenty of opportunities to break out in 2015 and should see more than his fair share of targets. If he can stay healthy, he has WR2 potential.

Saints | Brandin Cooks spent time with QB

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 20:32:44 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (knee) spent time training together with QB Drew Brees during the offseason in San Diego. "Man, I love everything about him, his makeup, and then just his physical ability. I mean he's got all kinds of talent," Brees said.

Fantasy Tip: With Jimmy Graham having been dealt to Seattle, Cooks will have a prominent role in the offense. He is expected to start alongside Marques Colston, and could very well be the No. 1 receiving option in the offense if he isn't that already. Consider him a top-flight WR2 entering the season, as he makes his way back from a knee injury. He could emerge as a low-end WR1 by season's end for fantasy owners.

Saints | Brandin Cooks set for big role

Sat, 18 Apr 2015 16:24:14 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks will be atop the depth chart with WR Marques Colston to enter the 2015 season.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks could be a big-time breakout candidate after playing in the slot most of his solid rookie season. Look at Cooks as a premium WR3 with WR2 potential.

Saints | Brandin Cooks to work with Drew Brees

Fri, 13 Feb 2015 13:20:52 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks said he plans to work out with QB Drew Brees this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks caught at least five passes in eight games this season but only recorded three touchdowns during the season. Cooks could receive a better role in the passing game, so he could be considered a low-end No. 2 wide receiver or a No. 3 with high upside in drafts next season. Cooks probably will have more value in point-per-reception leagues.

Saints | Kenny Stills stepping up

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 19:03:22 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills has tallied 13 catches for 260 yards and a touchdown in two games since WR Brandin Cooks (thumb) went down with a season-ending thumb injury.

Fantasy Tip: Drew Brees' tendency to spread the wealth makes any receiver for the Saints somewhat of a risk. That being said, Stills ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has a lot of upside for the price, making him a solid option at FantasyScore in Week 14 when New Orleans takes on a Carolina team ranked in the middle of the pack against the pass.

Tue, 18 Nov 2014 14:29:20 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (thumb) was placed on season-ending Reserve/Injured Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks' absence could breathe new life into Marques Colston, while Jimmy Graham, Kenny Stills and Travaris Cadet figure to see more targets as well. Colston is an especially intriguing play on FantasyScore in Week 12 with an attractively low price of $4,600 in a tasty matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.

Saints | Brandin Cooks may miss 4-6 weeks

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 10:39:08 -0800

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (thumb) underwent thumb surgery Monday, Nov. 17, and could miss four to six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks probably will not be able to return until late in December, so owners in shallow leagues can consider dropping him. Marques Colston, Kenny Stills and Travaris Cadet could receive more targets with Cooks out, which helps their fantasy value. All three players could be at least flex options in Week 12.

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 07:55:40 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (thumb) will miss two to four weeks due to a broken thumb.

Fantasy Tip: Kenny Stills is likely to benefit from Cooks' absence. Stills is a good flex option at the right price on FantasyScore. Marques Colston could also work his way back into fantasy viability.

Saints | Brandin Cooks playing better at home

Thu, 23 Oct 2014 15:40:01 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks has been targeted 22 times in just two home games so far this year. He totaled eight catches for 74 yards in Week 3 and nine catches for 56 yards in Week 5. The Saints play their third home game of the season this Sunday night.

Fantasy Tip: It may just be coincidence, but Cooks has been thrown at much more at home than on the road. If Jimmy Graham is limited at all, Cooks could see plenty of action and is will be worth his $5,700 price on FantasyScore.

Saints | Browns shut down Saints' passing game

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 11:19:05 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston, who didn't catch a pass in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns for the first time in 87 games, wasn't even targeted a single time. The Browns made it their mission to shut the Saints' downfield passing game down, and Cleveland had seven defensive backs on the field at once at times. WR Brandin Cooks was held to just three catches for 17 yards, and the four receivers combined for nine catches for 79 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Colston's fat zero for fantasy owners in Week 2 hurt badly. The good news is he has a good chance of bouncing back in Week 3 at home against the Minnesota Vikings.

Saints | Brandin Cooks has solid debut

Sun, 07 Sep 2014 18:29:24 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had seven receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: There were plenty of fantasy owners and experts loving Cooks in the preseason, and he lived up to the hype for at least one game. Still, after his solid performance, he might be a little overpriced in FantasyScore. There will likely be better values.

Saints | Kenny Stills limited Wednesday

Wed, 03 Sep 2014 14:51:16 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills (quadriceps) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Stills could be questionable to play in Week 1, and he might even be a game-time decision Sunday. As a result, he's a risky play in daily games. Marques Colston is a safe bet for solid production, and rookie Brandin Cooks should return nice profit at a cheap price if Stills doesn't suit up.

Saints | Brandin Cooks sits

Sun, 24 Aug 2014 06:25:15 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (illness) did not play in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 23, due to illness. Cooks took the warmup, and said he could have played if necessary.

Fantasy Tip: This is just a temporary setback for Cooks, and should not change his status on draft day. Look for Cooks to be drafted as a fourth or fifth wide receiver with upside.

Saints | Brandin Cook returns

Thu, 21 Aug 2014 18:02:37 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (illness) returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday, Aug. 21, and he is questionable for the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 23, according to head coach Sean Payton.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has assumed many of the duties that Darren Sproles had in New Orleans' offense, and he has the speed to deliver big plays whenever he touches the ball. Consistency could be an issue for a rookie in an offense that tends to spread the wealth, but his upside is tough to ignore, especially in PPR formats. Draft him as a fourth or fifth receiver, but he has a chance to become a viable flex option.
