Sun, 15 Oct 2017 13:41:06 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks caught six passes for 93 yards against the New York Jets in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has been targeted at least six times in five games this season and has posted at least 85 yards in three of the last four games. He can be considered at least a No. 2 fantasy receiver next week against the Atlanta Falcons.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks paces Pats receivers

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 22:18:46 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks caught five passes for 85 yards (17 yards per catch) against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5. Cooks was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has alternated solid outings with quiet ones, and his 85-yard showing Thursday night was a much better effort than his three-catch, 38-yard game against Carolina. While Cooks hasn't been the second coming of Randy Moss some speculated he'd be, he's someone that deserves a weekly spot as a WR2 based on upside alone.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks was a deep threat in Week 3

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 17:22:10 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks recorded 111 yards on deep passes in Week 3, which is the third most by a Patriots receiver in the past 12 years.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has been a terrific addition for the Patriots and has 256 yards and two touchdowns over the first three games of the season. He will remain a big part of the team's passing game and can be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Patriots | Brandon Cooks has breakout game

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 14:56:38 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks caught five passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns against the Houston Texans in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks was coming off a disappointing Week 2 performance but showed by the Patriots traded from him with his 131 yards. He should continue to be a focal point in the passing game against the Carolina Panthers and can be a No. 1 or No. 2 fantasy receiver.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks quiet against old team

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:57:20 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks managed just two receptions for 37 yards on four targets in his return to the New Orleans in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: The performance was rather disappointing considering the fact Tom Brady threw for 447 yards and three touchdowns and Cooks was underneath very little of that. He'll look for better results in Week 3 against the Texans at home.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks draws praise

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 09:16:16 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks has shown great professionalism for a 23-year-old, according to quarterback Tom Brady. "I've been so impressed with his professionalism.. … We expect to perform at a championship level every day. For a 23-year-old to understand that and to buy into that, and then to work at that level, has been very impressive from my standpoint. Being around a lot of young receivers, that's one thing that's probably held a lot of people back. Brandin, I just love working with him and (I'm) excited for him this year," Brady said during his weekly interview with WEEI.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks' work ethic has been well-chronicled this offseason, so it isn't much of a surprise he has acclimated himself to the "Patriot Way" so quickly. Owners might be a bit apprehensive in using a second-round pick on him given New England's penchant for spreading the wealth, but Cooks is not a run-of-the-mill talent. He has top-10 and possibly top-five upside at his position in fantasy this season.

Patriots | One catch for Brandin Cooks

Fri, 25 Aug 2017 19:31:20 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks caught one pass for eight yards in a 30-28 preseason win over the Detroit Lions Friday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has enormous upside in New England's offense, but the ample firepower available to Tom Brady could lead to the occasional dud. That will likely change if Julian Edelman's knee injury turns out to be serious, and if Edelman is out of the equation, Cooks needs to be treated as a WR1.

Patriots | Key Patriots to sit Thursday

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 13:56:20 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, TE Rob Gronkowski and WR Brandin Cooks are not expected to play in the Patriots' first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 10, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't come as a shock to any. Playing stars simply isn't worth the risk early on in the preseason. This will have no impact on their respective fantasy values. As you were.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks putting on a clinic

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 09:14:42 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks has been impressive throughout the offseason, and he has put on "a clinic" against the Jacksonville Jaguars during two days of joint practices at Gillette Stadium.

Fantasy Tip: The narrative surrounding Cooks since he arrived from New Orleans via trade this spring was he was a one-trick pony who would get swallowed up into the Patriots' spread-the-wealth passing game and be highly inconsistent as a result. Cooks is anything but a one-trick pony and has 10-touchdown upside in an offense that has lacked his big-play ability. All in all, he should be considered a top-10 receiver and a value pick if he last until the third round in fantasy drafts.

Patriots | Tom Brady, Brandin Cooks building chemistry

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 14:51:11 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said he has been working with WR Brandin Cooks during training camp so they can work on building a better chemistry.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots added Cooks this offseason, and he should be a big part of the passing game this season. He has posted at least 1,100 yards in each of the last two seasons and has 17 touchdowns during that span. Cooks should be considered a solid No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues. Brady will have plenty of weapons to work with and will be No. 1 quarterback in all leagues.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks praised by head coach

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 16:49:40 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks has already impressed head coach Bill Belichick. "Brandin's worked hard. Definitely, he has some skill. A transition for him [from the Saints]; he's working hard to make it," Belichick said. Belichick said Cooks is able to do multiple things for the Patriots and they'll have to see how those tools translate at training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, among others, give Tom Brady a versatile and formidable group of pass-catchers. Cooks may not be as involved with the Patriots, but he'll still play an integral role. As such, he should part of the WR2 conversation for fantasy purposes.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks lining up everywhere

Fri, 09 Jun 2017 08:23:54 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks is lining up everywhere on the field for the team, and he caught a team-high eight passes during a three-day minicamp this week. Cooks finishes every single route, regardless of how quickly the ball is delivered, and he flashes his hands at the end of the route to simulate the timing of the throw, according to S Devin McCourty.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks is a weapon, but it's hard to envision him harnessing his WR1 potential with so many other weapons in this offense. Cooks is at-best a WR2 in fantasy.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks impressive at minicamp

Wed, 07 Jun 2017 12:45:41 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks has been one of the breakout performers during minicamp this week and his speed has set him apart from his teammates, in the opinion of the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks probably will be used as a deep threat for the Patriots but could also see short passes that would allow him to use his speed. He has posted at least 1,100 yards in each of the last two seasons and will have a solid role in the Patriots' passing game. Cooks can be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks most successful in Superdome

Tue, 14 Mar 2017 18:51:49 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks played 21 games at home in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and 21 games on the road during his first three seasons in the league with the New Orleans Saints. While his receptions and targets were split pretty evenly, he accumulated 1,644 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in the Superdome, compared to 1,217 yards and seven touchdowns in away contests.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't deter owners from being high on Cooks going into the 2017 campaign, as it's just something to think about, since he'll be playing more in outdoor weather. Despite these splits, however, Cooks figures to have the potential to be a WR1, considering he still has a top quarterback throwing to him, and the fact that the Patriots have remarkably been amongst the three highest-scoring teams in each of the past seven seasons.

Patriots | New England to lose new pick

Sat, 11 Mar 2017 20:33:35 -0800

The New England Patriots will lose the fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft acquired from the New Orleans Saints as part of the trade for WR Brandin Cooks, according to multiple reports. Part of the Patriots' punishment for the deflated balls scandal was the loss of their highest pick in the fourth round, and the pick acquired from New Orleans is No. 118 while New England's own fourth-round pick is No. 132.

Eagles | Philly made solid offer for Brandin Cooks

Sat, 11 Mar 2017 16:40:55 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles S Malcolm Jenkins was part of a package the team used in attempt to acquire former New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks before he was traded to the New England Patriots. The Eagles offered Jenkins, a 2017 third-round pick and a 2017 fourth-round pick, but the Saints wanted a second-round pick plus Jenkins.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints ultimately settled on a first- and third-round pick from the Patriots in exchange for Cooks and a fourth-rounder. Especially considering how deep this year's draft is and the fact Jenkins spent the first five years of his career in New Orleans, it is a bit hard to believe the Saints accepted the Patriots' offer over the Eagles'. Nevertheless, Cooks should be a solid albeit slightly inconsistent WR2 in fantasy with New England in 2017.

Patriots | Cold weather to slow Brandin Cooks?

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 19:47:06 -0800

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks has caught 16 of his 20 career receiving touchdowns in warm weather stadiums and domes.

Fantasy Tip: Those numbers likely have more to do with Cooks playing his home games in the Superdome than anything else, and he should do just fine as one of Tom Brady's main targets. Grab him as a WR2 and enjoy.

Saints | New Orleans trades Brandin Cooks

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 17:04:55 -0800

The New Orleans Saints have traded WR Brandin Cooks and a 2017 fourth-round pick to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2017 first-round pick and a 2017 third round pick, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Michael Thomas, Willie Snead and Coby Fleener should all receive bigger roles in the passing game with Cooks gone. Thomas finished 2016 with 1,137 yards and nine touchdowns and should be considered a No. 2 fantasy receiver. Snead nearly reached 900 yards this season and was third on the team with 72 catches. He can be a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver. Fleener struggled in his first year with the Saints and is probably a No. 2 fantasy tight end at this point.

Patriots | New England acquires Brandin Cooks

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 16:47:51 -0800

The New England Patriots have acquired WR Brandin Cooks and a 2017 fourth-round pick from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2017 first-round pick and a 2017 third round pick, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks will be going from one of the top offenses to another and should be one of the top targets for the Patriots in 2017. He has recorded at least 1,100 yards in each of the last two seasons and has 17 touchdowns during that span. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks talks heating up

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 07:42:38 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks is in trade talks with the New England Patriots, who are considering sending CB Malcolm Butler to New Orleans for Cooks.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has averaged 81 catches for 1,156 yards and 8.5 touchdowns the last two years. His numbers could suffer if he goes to New England, though, because there are a number of others to target. They also haven't thrown the ball deep much in a couple of years. Cooks is a WR2 in fantasy, but his upside is larger in New Orleans.

Patriots | NE rebuffed in trade offer for Brandin Cooks

Sat, 04 Mar 2017 17:47:35 -0800

The New England Patriots offered their first-round draft pick (No. 32 overall) in exchange for New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks but were turned down, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints are reportedly holding out for a mid-first round pick. At least five teams have made overtures for Cooks per the Times-Picayune, so his market is robust. With Cooks still playing on his rookie contract, he's going to remain in high demand. Expect New Orleans to revisit a deal after the start of free agency when it may be able to take advantage of a receiver-needy team which missed out on the likes of Alshon Jeffery or Terrelle Pryor.

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 07:31:35 -0800

Updating an earlier report, New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks can be landed in a trade for a first-round pick.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has averaged 81 catches for 1,156 yards and 8.5 touchdowns the last two years. He'll be 24 this season and has plenty to like as a WR2 in fantasy.

Saints | Second rounder for Brandin Cooks?

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 06:49:44 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks can likely be acquired for a second-round pick, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: It's a bit curious that a young receiver knocking on the door of WR1 status can be landed for a second rounder. Cooks has averaged 81 catches for 1,156 yards and 8.5 touchdowns the last two years. However, leaving New Orleans doesn't seem like the best recipe for honing untapped potential. He's a high-end WR2 in fantasy.

Titans | Tennessee main suitor for Brandin Cooks

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 11:24:42 -0800

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks has been involved in trade talks involving the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles. The Titans are considered the favorite if a trade were to be completed, however. The Titans could trade their 18th overall pick straight up for Cooks, while another scenario has them trading first-round picks with at least another draft pick involved, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks' fantasy value would automatically take a hit in this scenario without Drew Brees throwing to him. Marcus Mariota is a capable passer, but he's no Brees. Plus, Cooks would be sharing targets with Rishard Matthews and Delanie Walker, among others. This is largely speculation right now, so tread carefully through the waters of rumor. Cooks is a low-end WR1 with the Saints, but he would likely drop to WR2 status in another uniform.

Saints | Brandin Cooks being discussed in trades

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 07:34:07 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks is the subject of trade talks with the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles, according to league sources.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has had two nearly identical stat lines the last two years with a 78-1,173-8 line last year. He'll be 24 in September, and there still feels like there is more left in the tank. However, leaving New Orleans doesn't seem like the best way to harness it. He's a high-end WR2 in fantasy.

Saints | Brandin Cooks likely to remain in Big Easy

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 09:38:38 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks is "absolutely" expected to remain with the team in 2017, according to head coach Sean Payton.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks made a few waves during the season after complaining about his reduced role, but the Saints predictably have little interest in breaking apart one of the league's better receiving trios, along with Michael Thomas and Willie Snead. The fourth-year wideout has scored 17 touchdowns over his last two seasons and should remain a solid WR2 in fantasy.

Saints | Brandin Cooks' option should be exercised

Thu, 09 Feb 2017 10:02:16 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks is expected to have his fifth-year option picked up this offseason. He would receive $8 million in 2018 if the optioned is exercised.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has posted at least 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons and has 17 touchdowns during that span. Cooks will continue to be the top receiving option for the Saints and should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver for fantasy owners in 2017.

Saints | Brandin Cooks leaves game

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 22:33:19 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (head) left the Week 17 game against the Atlanta Falcons after hitting his head on the turf. He walked to the locker room under his own power, but was unable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks finished the season with 78 catches for 1,172 yards and eight touchdowns. He was gold during the fantasy playoffs and was a must-start when 100 percent healthy. He and Michael Thomas are going to be a dynamic one-two fantasy punch for years to come.

Saints | Brandin Cooks targeted nine times

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 00:12:34 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks was targeted nine times and caught five passes for 98 yards in a 31-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks is among New Orleans' top receiving targets, but Drew Brees has so many weapons in other players like Michael Thomas and Willie Snead that it is hard to pick one top receiver. Cooks is a WR2 or WR3-style receiver at best.

Saints | Brandin Cooks explodes in desert

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 21:58:04 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks posted seven receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns on eight targets in the Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks posted his first multi-TD game since Week 1, and it was his first 1000-yard game since Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers. Cooks has five or more receptions in each of his past three outings and has re-emerged as a must-start WR2 in all fantasy leagues.

Saints | Brandin Cooks just misses out

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 22:53:28 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks posted five receptions for 61 yards in the Week 14 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was targeted a game-high 10 times. Cooks nearly had a second-half touchdown, but after further review the ball hit the ground while he was falling to the ground.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has struggled down the stretch, failing to find the end zone in each of his past four games. He has just two 100-yard games this season, and one since Week 1. He remains more of a low-end WR2 at this point.

Saints | Brandin Cooks ready for rebound?

Tue, 29 Nov 2016 12:49:11 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had been averaging 94 yards and one touchdown per game at home this season before last week's debacle.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised to see Drew Brees and the Saints make a concerted effort to get Cooks the ball in Week 13. It might be easy to want to bench him this week after not being targeted last week, but the Saints and Detroit Lions could be involved in a shootout. You won't want Cooks on your bench if that occurs.

Saints | Brandin Cooks' blanking result of coverages

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 12:29:05 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks did not see a single target in a Week 12 rout of the Los Angeles Rams - a fact head coach Sean Payton suggested was "the result of some coverages". "There were certainly calls with his name and number on it, and periodically once in a while that (being held without a target) can happen," Payton said.

Fantasy Tip: There's no question the emergence of rookie Michael Thomas has played a role in it, but Cooks has been extremely hit-or-miss this season and required touchdowns to save his fantasy day. The third-year wideout has topped five catches and/or 66 yards only once since Week 6, falling below his season yards-per-catch average of 14.4 five times over that six-game span. As a result, Cooks is quickly fading into low-end WR2 territory.

Saints | Brandin Cooks not targeted once

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 21:18:32 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks did not have any receptions and he was not targeted once in the Week 12 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: There was no word on whether Cooks suffered some kind of injury, or if he was simply blanketed by the Rams causing Drew Brees to have to look elsewhere. Either way, it was an ugly goose egg of his legion of fantasy owners in a key week of action.

Saints | Brandin Cooks can't break big play

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 21:33:16 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks finished with seven catches for 42 yards and two carries for seven yards in a 23-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: It was an odd game for the speedy receiver, who had one of his worst outputs in terms of yards but tied his season high in catches. Expect a better line when the Saints take on the Rams in Week 12.

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 22:18:23 -0800

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks managed five catches for 66 yards with six targets in the Week 9 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks entered the game with a touchdown in each of his past three games. He remains a solid WR2 in all fantasy leagues despite the emergence of rookie Michael Thomas in the New Orleans pass defense.

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks posted four receptions for 44 yards in the Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks, but he was at least able to find the end zone once. Cooks was targeted six times.

Fantasy Tip: After failing to score a touchdown in three straight games from Week 2 through Week 4, Cooks has visited the end zone in each of his past three games. He remains a top-flight fantasy option in all formats heading into Week 9 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 20:34:40 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks posted seven receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown in the Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was targeted nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has managed touchdowns in each of his past two games, and he has a total of 14 grabs for 231 yards over the span. He remains a bona fide WR1 in all fantasy leagues despite a tough matchup in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 17:21:42 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks hauled in seven receptions for 173 yards and a touchdown on nine targets in the Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks normally would have been the top dog in fantasy leagues this week, but Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants overshadowed him. Still, Cooks was pretty darn good. He'll look to keep it rolling in Week 7 when the Fleur de Lis hits the road for Kansas City.

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks was targeted eight times in the Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons Monday, Sept. 26, but he posted just two receptions for 13 yards. He also carried once for six yards.

Fantasy Tip: It was a disappointing fantasy performance for Cooks considering there were a total of 77 points scored in the game. Cooks remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues until this kind of performance becomes a regularity. It won't.

Raiders | Sean Smith benched in Week 1

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 10:03:07 -0700

Oakland Raiders CB Sean Smith was benched midway through the third quarter of his team's Week 1 win against the New Orleans Saints after failing to get a bump on WR Brandin Cooks and getting burnt on his 98-yard touchdown catch. "I thought that he had a rough day, so we took him out. He'll be back. He's going to play well for us, but he didn't play well today," head coach Jack Del Rio said of the cornerback who signed a four-year, $40 million with the Raiders this spring.

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks posted six receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 against the Oakland Raiders. The highlight of the game was a 98-yard score in the second half. He was targeted nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks and Willie Snead each had huge stat lines against a very giving Raiders pass defense, and he'll face another favorable matchup in Week 2 at N.Y. Giants. He is a bona fide WR1 in all fantasy formats going forward.

Saints | Brandon Coleman busy in loss

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 22:20:09 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandon Coleman posted six receptions for 47 yards on 10 targets in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Houston Texans. He saw increased work with WRs Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead resting.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman looked good last preseason, but he never did quite emerge as that special fantasy sleeper everyone envisioned. Now, Brandin Cooks is the top banana and a WR1 for fantasy owners, and Willie Snead and rookie Michael Thomas look to be special. It appears Coleman will be the No. 4 wideout in NOLA, and more of a WR5 for fantasy players in most formats.

New Orleans WR Brandin Cooks and WR Willie Snead will not play in the team's exhibition game against the Houston Texans on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Neither player is known to be dealing with an injury, so the Saints' decision to sit both starters is likely just a way to give rookie Michael Thomas and others behind him on the depth chart plenty of snaps to show their wares. Look for Cooks and Snead to play most of the first half when New Orleans hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers next Friday.

Saints | Brandin Cooks out of practice

Thu, 04 Aug 2016 06:42:45 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (undisclosed) is out of practice Thursday, Aug. 4. Cooks was shaken up at the end of practice the previous day.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks is coming off an 84-1,138-9 sophomore campaign, but this could be the year he could emerge into the WR1 conversation. The Saints landed a legit tight end in Coby Fleener and have other developing receivers, which they seemed to be exposed without at times last season. Cooks is a high-end WR2 with upside.

Saints | Michael Thomas to work as starter?

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 22:59:14 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas has a big body and could be a stud receiver in the red zone. Many project him to be the team's No. 2 wideout behind WR Brandin Cooks.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is worth watching in training camp and the preseason. If the rookie can build rapport with Drew Brees, and the club doesn't look outside of the organization for veteran depth, Thomas might be worth a look as a WR3/4 or flex option in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Saints | Brandin Cooks in line for big year

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 20:05:54 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks managed 1,138 receiving yards last season, and beat writer Nick Underhill sets the floor at 1,200 yards heading into 2016, with Cooks possibly flirting with 1,500 yards if he can stay healthy and post a few big games.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks will be a Top 15 fantasy option at his position. As long as he can stay healthy he has the potential to be a bona fide WR1 by season's end.

Saints | Drew Brees confident in young receivers

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 09:19:08 -0700

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees has confidence in his young corps of wide receivers led by WR Brandin Cooks and WR Willie Snead.

"I think when Drew is out there, he doesn't look at Brandin Cooks as a young player," head coach Sean Payton said. "I don't think he looks at Snead that way anymore because of the experience they've had. There's a combination there of guys that know what to do and how do they fit with the scheme that we're asking of them."

Fantasy Tip: Brees is 37, but he led the league in passing yards last season and completed 68.3% of his passes. The 32 touchdowns limited his output some, but that could increase as the experience with this group increases. Cooks has the ability of a WR1 in fantasy, but he's probably better served as a WR2. Snead amassed 984 yards and three scores last year and is a serviceable WR3. Brandon Coleman is a breakout candidate as a WR4. As for Brees, he's just below the elite tier of fantasy QBs, but he should be one of the first options after the top three are gone.

Saints | Brandin Cooks still not practicing

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 16:53:36 -0700

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (undisclosed) worked off to the side with trainers during practice Thursday, June 2.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks will be the Saints' No. 1 wide receiver assuming he's full-go when the season starts. He has added value in PPR leagues, too, after catching 84 passes for over 1,100 yards and nine touchdowns last season. View Cooks as a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2.
