Bengals | AJ McCarron won't be traded

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 14:43:14 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB AJ McCarron will not be traded this offseason, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Fantasy Tip: McCarron filled in admirably after Andy Dalton fractured his throwing thumb late last season. There are still a few quarterback-needy teams, but Lewis and the Bengals are satisfied with their current quarterback situation, apparently. As long as Dalton is healthy, though, McCarron will have no fantasy value.

Bengals | AJ McCarron likes the deep ball

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 21:46:42 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB AJ McCarron has thrown three touchdowns on passes of 16 yards or more down the field, and his QBR on deep throws would rank third in the NFL if he had enough attempts to qualify.

Fantasy Tip: The sample size is small, but with few options available at FantasyScore on wild-card weekend, McCarron ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) looks like the best bet to save significant cap space at the quarterback spot. Pittsburgh's secondary has been one of the worst at stopping the pass this year.

Bengals | Cincy planning to use AJ McCarron

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 09:09:57 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said Monday, Jan. 4, that the Bengals would prepare during the week as if QB AJ McCarron would start the wild card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday, Jan. 9, with QB Andy Dalton's (thumb) status up in the air. McCarron said he'll be more confident this weekend if he's forced to face the Steelers for the second time.

Fantasy Tip: McCarron has looked pretty good while replacing Dalton for three full games, and he's yet to throw an interception. The Steelers can be beat through the air, so if McCarron makes another start this weekend, he is a deep sleeper QB worth considering on FantasyScore.

Bengals | AJ McCarron good to go

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 10:50:08 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB AJ McCarron (wrist) practiced fully Friday, Jan. 1, and he's probable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: McCarron ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) isn't a great start against the Baltimore Ravens on FantasyScore.

Bengals | AJ McCarron, Tyler Eifert have full practice

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 13:20:16 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB AJ McCarron (wrist) and TE Tyler Eifert (concussion) were full participants in practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) hasn't played in a couple weeks, so there could be a little bit of rust in the season finale. Plus, The Baltimore Ravens have only allowed two touchdowns to tight ends all season, so you may want to look elsewhere for your FantasyScore tight end. McCarron ($4,800, 9.6%) won't be 100%, but he should still start this weekend against the Ravens. There are better FantasyScore options at quarterback, though, unless you want to spend more at other positions.

Bengals | Marvin Jones, AJ McCarron limited

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 14:05:24 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) and QB AJ McCarron (wrist) were limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals still have a playoff seed to play for, so Jones ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) and McCarron ($4,800, 9.6%) still have value in Week 17. Jones in particular has a great matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, who are the third-worst fantasy defense against wide receivers this year.

Bengals | Cincy confident with AJ McCarron

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 12:24:56 -0800

The Cincinnati Bengals are confident that QB AJ McCarron can win a playoff game for them with QB Andy Dalton (thumb) still unavailable. "Oh, there's no question in my mind that we can win a playoff game with AJ McCarron," OT Andrew Whitworth said. "He has enough leadership and character." Dalton isn't expected to return until at least the divisional round. McCarron has thrown for 672 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in the last three games.

Fantasy Tip: McCarron ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) certainly has shown flashes of brilliance filling in for Dalton. He should be ready to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17 in what is a plus matchup for the young quarterback. At least consider McCarron for a sleeper pick on FantasyScore.
