Jets | Two Jets miss practice

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 16:56:23 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (groin) and Kenbrell Thompkins (groin) did not practice Monday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro and Thompkins are both faint blips on the fantasy radar at this point. Neither should see heavy involvement in the Jets' offense. Amaro is a backup tight end option, but Thompkins can be avoided.

Jets | Jace Amaro keeps making plays

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 21:08:13 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro's highlights during practice Friday, Aug. 5, included a deep catch down the seam in double coverage and a touchdown in the red zone.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro has enjoyed a strong camp, and he could finally be putting it all together. Take a chance on him if you are looking for a TE2 late in a draft.

Jets | Jace Amaro turning heads

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 18:51:33 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) missed the entire 2015 season after shoulder surgery, but he has stood out during the early days of training camp making a lot of catches while serving as a noticeable target in red-zone drills. Last season WR Quincy Enunwa emerged as a hybrid receiver/tight end, and that might be whom Amaro is fighting for reps this year.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro was a standout at Texas Tech and entered the NFL with much fanfare. However, he didn't do much in 2014 and was sidelined completely in 2015, so fantasy owners might be able to scoop him up on the cheap in drafts this season. He still has plenty of upside and could be that late-round gem to push you over the top.

Jets | Important year for Jace Amaro

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 11:34:15 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro is the projected starter for the Jets after he missed all of last year with a shoulder injury. He has worked hard on his blocking and believes he's improved in that area. However, he must earn the trust of offensive coordinator Chan Gailey and head coach Todd Bowles. The Jets tight ends combined for just eight catches on 23 targets in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Kellen Davis became the starter last year for lack of better options, and he had just three catches for 18 yards and a score. Amaro is the better pass-catcher and should be utilized more often, but with the QB spot still unsettled, there's not much to like here. Leave Amaro undrafted.

Jets | Jace Amaro a better blocker

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 11:19:22 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro has put much effort into making himself a better blocker this offseason, according to tight ends coach Jimmie Johnson. "You can see that he's put a lot of effort into trying to improve that part of his game," Johnson said.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is too inconsistent to be viewed as a viable starting fantasy tight end. He's still easily in backup territory in 2016.

Jets | Coach says Jace Amaro competing for job

Mon, 30 May 2016 09:34:06 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro will have to compete for a roster spot during training camp, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said he has not seen Amaro play since he missed the entire 2015 season.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro believes he will have a solid role in the passing game this season but it appears that he will have to earn his targets. He is the leading candidate to start in 2016 but likely will only be a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Jets | Jace Amaro expects more work

Fri, 27 May 2016 16:02:26 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro said he expects to be more involved in the passing game in 2016. Amaro said he believes he can be a traditional tight end, while head coach Todd Bowles said the Jets see him as an H-back.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro missed the entire 2015 season because of a shoulder injury but has a solid chance to start this upcoming season. He recorded 345 yards and two touchdowns in 2014 but probably would not be more than a No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues.

Jets | Jace Amaro will be healthy

Sun, 21 Feb 2016 11:29:08 -0800

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) is doing well in his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery and should be fully healthy for the 2016 season.

Fantasy Tip: Usage and playing time will be bigger questions than health for Amaro next season. He has underwhelmed and has been underutilized so far in his young career, so don't view him as more than a No. 2 fantasy tight end.

Jets | Jace Amaro has doubters

Fri, 19 Feb 2016 10:27:59 -0800

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) has teammates that are skeptical he will be effective in the league. Amaro's rehab has gone well from surgery to repair a torn labrum, but he'll have to impress offensive coordinator Chan Gailey after he was buried on the depth chart last season.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro is still a project and probably isn't worth drafting unless he lights it up in camp.

Jets | Jace Amaro done for season

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 10:28:04 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) will have season-ending shoulder surgery and will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: This takes away a valuable pass-catching tight end for the suspect New York offense with Geno Smith starting the season on IR. Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis will split the tight end duties for the Jets, but neither is worth drafting in most fantasy football drafts.
