Buccaneers | Arroyo to continue calling plays

Tue, 23 Sep 2014 08:49:56 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo will continue serving as primary play caller as offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford takes a leave of absence to recover from a recent heart procedure. Arroyo's role in shaping the offense will increase, and he'll receive more assistance from the offensive staff.

Fantasy Tip: Arroyo has been at least partially calling plays so far for this poor offense, but maybe more control on his part will help them move the ball better. Don't bet on it happening immediately, though facing a battered Pittsburgh Steelers defense this week could be surprisingly productive.

Buccaneers | Jeff Tedford taking leave

Tue, 23 Sep 2014 08:32:50 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford is taking a leave of absence. His medical condition following a recent heart procedure has not improved, and the organization wants him to come back completely healthy.

Fantasy Tip: This could put a further damper on an already battered Bucs offense, especially since Mike Glennon is replacing Josh McCown (thumb) at quarterback.

Buccaneers | Plan to alternate running backs

Tue, 03 Jun 2014 13:23:35 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford said he believes in alternating running backs. "I think you have to alternate,'' Tedford said Tuesday. "Even when we had two, 1,000-yard rushers (at California), J.J. Arrington was a 2,000-yard rusher and and we had a couple times guys had a thousand yards apiece. But I don't believe that one back can carry the load. It's just too physical. I think you probably need to have two to three guys to bring different things to the table. But I think you at least need to have two to be able to spell them here and there and keep them healthy and tat type of thing."

Fantasy Tip: This could mean a considerably lighter load for Doug Martin over the course of the season. This is obviously something to watch during the preseason, but this is not necessarily great news for Martin owners moving forward. Proceed with caution until we get more details on how the running backs will be used.
