Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins to play with ones

Fri, 26 Aug 2016 10:12:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins will play with the first-team offense Friday, Aug. 26, in the third preseason game. Seferian-Jenkins says he's finally starting to figure out the mental aspect of the game and the need to be detail oriented and fundamentally sound at all times.

Fantasy Tip: ASJ has TE1 talent, but he hasn't avoided injury and has been inconsistent. He's a TE2 you can take late and have pay off in a big way.

Buccaneers | Seferian-Jenkins back on first team again

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 15:27:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has "earned the right" to share first-team reps with TE Cameron Brate again, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: Brate hasn't done much this preseason, while ASJ has generally blocked well and caught all five of his targets, suggesting the former may be on his way to delivering on his vast potential. If Seferian-Jenkins has finally "figured it out", he has high-end TE1 upside. He's well worth a late-round gamble in all fantasy drafts.

Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins has best practice

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 16:07:45 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins had "probably" his best day of camp Thursday, August 18, according to head coach Dirk Koetter. He was "nearly unstoppable" during 7-on-7 red zone drills, hauling in three touchdown passes from QB Jameis Winston.

Fantasy Tip: There's no denying Seferian-Jenkins' potential, but the former second-round pick has simply struggled to stay on the field due to injury. In fact, since arriving in Tampa Bay, he's managed to suit up in only 16 of 32 ballgames. If he can just stay healthy, Seferian-Jenkins could turn out to be one of the league's breakout players in 2016. He should also easily outperform Cameron Brate, his main competition for the starting tight end spot.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate the starter

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 08:30:48 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate is the starting tight end over TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins because Brate is making plays and has improved his run blocking.

Fantasy Tip: ASJ showed flashes, but his health and consistency have been problems. Brate probably doesn't have as much upside in fantasy as ASJ would, and he's a low-end TE2 right now.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate a red zone weapon

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 09:37:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate emerged as a favorite target of QB Jameis Winston last year, and head coach Dirk Koetter has been impressed with the tight end in the red zone this offseason. Brate caught 23 passes for 288 yards last year and scored three touchdowns when TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins was injured. Brate will battle with Seferian-Jenkins for a starting position in training camp.

Fantasy Tip: ASF is the superior athlete and incumbent starter, but his offseason didn't get off on the right foot, as he was dismissed from a practice last week by Koetter for not knowing what he was doing on offense. Brate has a real chance to make some noise and gain starter reps, so you may want to downgrade Seferian-Jenkins for now as more of a TE2. Stay tuned.

Buccaneers | Seferian-Jenkins dismissed from practice

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 10:04:08 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins was dismissed from practice by head coach Dirk Koetter Thursday, June 9.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear what caused ASF to be dismissed from practice, but the tight end posted "moving on" on his official Twitter page. Stay tuned for more updates on this situation and whether it'll affect Seferian-Jenkins' standing with the team. All things considered in this improving offense, ASF should be a low-end TE to high-end TE2 in fantasy.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate earns praise from coach

Sat, 26 Mar 2016 17:12:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate exceeded expectations in the absence of an injured TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins in 2015, finishing with 288 yards and three touchdowns on 23 receptions. "Cam is an ascending player and our hope for him is that he takes it and runs with it. That's what you want. It would be a great story and great for our team," head coach Dirk Koetter said.

Fantasy Tip: Brate is someone to keep an eye on going forward if Seferian-Jenkins continues to struggle with injuries, as he showed obvious chemistry with Jameis Winston last season. Short of another injury-marred campaign from Seferian-Jenkins, however, the former undrafted free agent will do more to occasionally chip away at ASJ's value than become a fantasy force. Owners can ignore him in all but the deepest leagues.

Buccaneers | Coach defends Austin Seferian-Jenkins

Sat, 26 Mar 2016 17:11:18 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has missed 16 of 32 possible games since entering the league in 2014, but head coach Dirk Koetter stated recently that no one worked harder at rehabbing or was more anxious to hit the field in 2015 than Seferian-Jenkins.

Fantasy Tip: ASJ has been able to catch much of a break injury-wise thus far in his two-year career. His reputation also took a hit this past season as critics wondered about his toughness, but Koetter acknowledged the significance of his 2015 shoulder injury was obvious to the coaching staff. ASJ should come cheap on draft day and is a very high-upside TE2 in fantasy.

Buccaneers | ASJ answers fantasy owners' prayers

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 18:44:27 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins posted two receptions for 60 yards in the Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears, including a Hail Mary 43-yard touchdown grab. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: ASJ didn't have a giant stat line, but the 43-yard miracle touchdown certainly changed a fantasy result or two in championship week and in daily play.

Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins sees limited work

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 06:47:45 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins played 21 snaps (30% of the offense) Sunday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Tip: He had three grabs for 31 yards and should be an under-the-radar option in fantasy once he begins playing more.
