Titans | Mike Mularkey defends Marcus Mariota

Sat, 18 Nov 2017 18:53:16 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota doesn't receive enough credit for the good plays he makes, according to head coach Mike Mularkey, and Mularkey said he is still pleased with the pace of Mariota's progression.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota is coming off an ugly, four-interception performance in Week 10, and while Mularkey may claim he is pleased with Mariota's progression this year, fantasy owners certainly are not. He has a chance to put up QB1 numbers against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11, but at this point, he is strictly a matchup play.

Titans | Marcus Mariota throws four picks

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 22:07:00 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 22 of 33 passes for 306 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions in the team's 40-17 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday, Nov. 16. Mariota also ran for a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: While his passing yardage (season-high 306) and two touchdowns were nice, his four interceptions doomed the Titans and compiled some serious negative points for fantasy owners. It was also disappointing to see him run for just five yards after finally looking like a mobile QB again this past Sunday. With 10 days to heal up and a date with the dismal Indianapolis Colts on deck brighter days should be ahead of Mariota.

Titans | Marcus Mariota practices Tuesday

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 16:33:26 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (ankle) fully participated in practice Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota appears to be over his injuries and has started running again in addition to his solid passing totals. He will be facing a good Pittsburgh Steelers defense and should be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Titans | Marcus Mariota listed as limited

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 15:22:37 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (ankle) was limited during the team's walkthrough Monday, Nov. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota could be limited during practice this week but should be able to play this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has thrown for at least 200 yards in each of the last four games and has four touchdowns and three interceptions during that span. Mariota could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues but could also be benched if owners have better options available.

Titans | Marcus Mariota should be ready for Week 11

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 11:17:43 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (shoulder, ankle) is dealing with a sore shoulder and mild ankle sprain in the wake of his team's Week 10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but he is fully expected to play Thursday, Nov. 16, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota has been serviceable this season, but he has been far from the QB1 many expected him to be thanks to a number of injuries and general offensive ineffectiveness overall. He's certainly not a must-start against the Steelers, so owners can keep him on the bench if they have another decent QB2 (or better) option with a better matchup.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota went 25-for-44 for 264 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10. He also rushed for 51 yards on six carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota has been playing well during the team's four-game winning streak and did more in the running back this week. He will be facing a solid Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 11 and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Titans | More running in Marcus Mariota's future?

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 11:38:52 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota will likely be involved in more designed runs moving forward since the team feels good about his mobility. Mariota suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4 and has only carried six times for 14 scoreless yards in three games since.

Fantasy Tip: While the injury isn't the only reason Mariota hasn't taken the league by storm this season, his lack of mobility has severely limited his fantasy upside and that of the entire offense. With the running threat Mariota provides and Corey Davis finally healthy, there is potential for this offense to start making some noise down the stretch.

Titans | Marcus Mariota tosses two scores

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 19:00:50 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 19 of his 28 passes for 218 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 23-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: It was the first time Mariota has thrown for multiple scores since late September in what has been an underwhelming year overall. Consider him an upside QB2 against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10.

Titans | Marcus Mariota doesn't do much

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 13:55:28 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 21 of his 34 pass attempts for 203 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns. He also ran once for eight yards.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota struggled against the Cleveland pass defense, but the team was able to pick up the road win in overtime. He'll get two weeks to go back to the drawing board and figure things out with a bye in Week 8.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Titans | Marcus Mariota practices in full

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 14:17:17 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota did not suffer any setbacks on Monday against the Colts, although he was not his normal self by staying mostly in the pocket and rarely moving or scrambling. He should have a nice week against a Cleveland Browns pass defense ranking 17th in the NFL with 226.3 yards per game while allowing a league-high 14 touchdown passes.

Tue, 17 Oct 2017 14:52:16 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) made it through the Titans' Week 6 win without any setbacks to his ailing hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: It's all systems go for Mariota. He has a talented arm, quick legs and a reliable supporting cast. Barring any future setbacks or other injuries, he'll continue to be in the middle of the QB1 conversation.

Titans | Tennessee's passing game improving?

Tue, 17 Oct 2017 11:50:19 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota and the Titans' offense totaled three passes of at least 25 yards in Week 6. The Titans had produced only four such plays through the first five games of the season.

Fantasy Tip: The Indianapolis Colts don't exactly have an elite pass defense, but the return of Mariota indubitably helps. We knew the Titans had a deep and talented receiving corps before the season started and that is becoming more evident. Rookie Taywan Taylor is a legitimate deep threat who is worthy a pickup in deeper standard leagues if available.

Titans | Pressure no sweat for Marcus Mariota

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 87.5 percent of his passes for 145 yards and a touchdown under pressure in Week 6, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota has a tantalizing matchup with the Cleveland Browns next week. After some of the injuries to quarterbacks, Mariota might be a top-five option in this matchup.

Titans | Marcus Mariota dazzles in return on MNF

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 20:53:35 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) completed 23 of 32 passes for 306 yards, one touchdown and one interception in his return to action Monday, Oct. 16, against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota missed last week's affair against the Dolphins but certainly didn't show any rust in this one, as he recorded season highs in passing yards and completion percentage. The only disappointment was that he didn't chip in any rushing yards, but that shouldn't be a surprise given his hamstring issue. Another week of rest should allow him to scramble more again, but overall, owners who decided to fire him up this week have to be pleased with this outcome.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 6 game and will be the starting quarterback.

Titans | Marcus Mariota likely to play Monday

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 11:16:15 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) is expected to play Monday, Oct. 16, against the Indianapolis Colts despite being considered a game-time decision.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota is back in time for a stellar matchup against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL so far in 2017. The dual-threat quarterback is winless in his young career versus Indianapolis (0-3), but in three games he has averaged more than 300 total yards and two touchdowns. Start him tonight if it's not too late.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota was a limited practice participant throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Titans | Marcus Mariota could be back Week 6?

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 10:09:23 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) was "not real close" to playing Week 5, but head coach Mike Mularkey disputed a report from NFL Network that Mariota is expected to need two to four weeks and believes he may be able to return in time for Monday Night Football versus the Indianapolis Colts to end Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: The Titans gained 20 or fewer yards on 13 of 15 possessions, went three-and-out on eight drives and had negative yardage on three with Matt Cassel at the controls against the Miami Dolphins. The fact the Titans play on Monday next week will make it hard to trust any Tennessee fantasy player despite the favorable matchup, unless Mariota is able to put together some full practices between now and then. As a result, owners should consider other alternatives.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) wasn't close to playing against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Titans | Marcus Mariota unlikely to play

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 05:55:52 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) is not expected to play against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, according to multiple sources. He suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4's game against the Houston Texans and will likely need two to four weeks to recover.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the hamstring issue, Mariota had been a limited participant in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Matt Cassel is expected to start in his absence but is not a viable fantasy option, so the fantasy values of Tennessee's offensive weapons should be downgraded accordingly.

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 6, and is listed as questionable. It is believed he will be a game-time decision.

Titans | Marcus Mariota hopeful about playing Week 5

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 10:53:21 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) is reportedly "optimistic" about his chances of playing versus the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, according to TitansInsider's Terry McCormick.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota will likely be a true game-time decision despite the fact he has been limited to stationery throws in practice this week. The third-year quarterback told reporters he believes he only needs "a little mobility" in order to play. Despite Mariota's optimism, it would be wise for owners to make other plans at quarterback. Even though the Dolphins haven't shown a great deal on either side of the ball, it's hard to be optimistic about any Titan this week with a limited Mariota or Matt Cassel leading the way.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) was able to do a little more during practice Thursday, Oct. 5, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. Mularkey said he will need to see some mobility from Mariota if he has a chance to play in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota probably will be a game-time decision for Week 5, so owners will need to check the inactive list for his status. He is a risky option this week because he could be limited if he plays in the game, so owners may want to consider healthier options to use in their lineups.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) has been ruled out of Week 4 against the Houston Texans with a hamstring injury, according to the CBS Sports telecast.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota went 25-for-41 for 256 yards against the Oakland Raiders in Week 1. He also rushed for 26 yards and one touchdown on three carries in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota entered this season with a good amount of hype in fantasy leagues and played well even though he did not throw for a touchdown. He will be facing a good Jacksonville Jaguars defense in Week 2 but can still be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota played well last season before he suffered his injury and should improve his play with another year of experience. Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) played two series against the New York Jets in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 12, completing two of his three pass attempts for 15 yards.

Fantasy Tip: The numbers are really secondary to the fact that Mariota saw action in a game for the first time since breaking his leg last season. It should be full steam ahead for the dual-threat quarterback, and Mariota has a chance to sneak into QB1 territory this season.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) will play in the preseason game against the New York Jets Saturday, Aug. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota probably will play a series or two in the game, but the team wants him to play in a game since he missed the end of last season. He is coming off a solid 2016 season with 3,426 passing yards and 26 touchdowns and also helps owners will his running ability. Mariota has a chance to be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in 2017.

Tennessee Titans WR Eric Decker has already built a "trust" with QB Marcus Mariota, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. "Just in this week of practice, they've connected a lot of times," Mularkey said. "So yeah, there's a chemistry there."
