Titans | Marcus Mariota could see some action in OTAs

Sun, 14 May 2017 08:33:33 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) is not yet running full-speed after fracturing his right fibula late last season, but the coaching staff is attempting to figure out how to get him - along with injured rookie WR Corey Davis - on the field together sooner than later. Organized team activities run from May 23 to June 8, and there is a chance both could see limited work during that time. "We're going to do some things that (Mariota is) going to be able to practice, do some things that aren't going to subject him to (further injury). We may do more 7-on-7s than we ever have done, just things like that to try to help him out," Titans coach Mike Mularkey said.

Fantasy Tip: Just yesterday, TitansOnline.com's Jim Wyatt suggested Mariota may not see any offseason work at all, so it is possible the team is waffling at this point. Both sources are in agreement he will have no trouble being ready for the team's regular-season opener. Assuming no setbacks, Mariota can be viewed as a low-end fantasy QB1.

Titans | Marcus Mariota will not be rushed back

Sat, 13 May 2017 15:27:12 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota's (leg) status for offseason work remains in the "to be determined" department, according to TitansOnline's Jim Wyatt.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota's status for Week 1 is not in question, and it seems Wyatt and the team are doing their best to not put any undue pressure on the quarterback to come back before he is absolutely ready. Tennessee will want to see him establish some chemistry with rookies Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor, and Jonnu Smith before the summer is over, however, so he will probably be expected to be ready for the first day of training camp. Mariota should be considered a fantasy QB1 candidate.

Titans | Marcus Mariota not at full speed

Fri, 12 May 2017 18:25:45 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is still not running at full speed, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Fantasy Tip: The news is by no means a setback, and all signs point to Mariota being ready well before the start of the regular season. He has QB1 potential heading into 2017, especially after Tennessee went offense early and often in the draft.

Titans | Marcus Mariota close to 'full-head running'

Thu, 04 May 2017 17:12:27 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) said that he feels great and is "probably another week or two from really full-head running." In the meantime, he's begun to do some jogging and is continuing to take things one day at a time in doing his best to be prepared for the season.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota has seemingly been breezing through his rehab, as reports continue to indicate that the franchise quarterback is ahead of schedule. That's good news for those who have interest in drafting him for their fantasy team, as Mariota looks like he'll be ready in plenty of time before the season opener. After his breakout campaign a year ago, Mariota will enter the new season with legitimate QB1 potential.

Titans | Corey Davis loves Marcus Mariota

Thu, 27 Apr 2017 18:52:41 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis said QB Marcus Mariota is his "favorite" quarterback. "He is smart, he is very accurate and I told you before I like the swagger he has going on," Davis said. "He is very poised, and he is a great leader. Catching passes from him, it is going to be right."

Fantasy Tip: Davis will be given every opportunity to start this year, and he could be Mariota's top target sooner rather than later. He is worth a look as a WR4 in redraft leagues, and he is worthy of a top-five pick in rookie drafts.

Titans | Marcus Mariota will run soon

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 12:17:27 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) hopes to begin running again in two to three weeks. Mariota underwent surgery on his right leg earlier this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Mariota's status as the offseason progresses. The Titans will indubitably be cautious with their franchise quarterback. He has QB1 potential when he's fully healthy, especially with his running ability. If he makes it through the offseason without any restraints, he'll be a QB1 consideration in fantasy drafts.

Titans | Marcus Mariota to be at workouts

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 17:32:00 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) will report for the first day of the team's voluntary offseason program Monday, April 17, according to a team spokesperson. Head coach Mike Mularkey said the team will be overly cautious with Mariota, who is expected to return to the field in time for the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: This would appear to be another step in Mariota being ready for the season opener. As long as he's healthy going into Week 1, he has the chance to be an extremely valuable fantasy quarterback given what he did last season, throwing for 3,426 yards and 26 touchdowns compared to only nine interceptions. Mariota can present excellent value towards the end of drafts.

Titans | Marcus Mariota sheds walking boot

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 22:42:15 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) has shed the walking boot on his surgically repaired right leg and is back home in Hawaii, where he is running on the beach as part of his rehab from a broken fibula that he suffered Dec. 24. He expects to be ready by training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota continues to be on track in his recovery, as the goal has always been for him to be ready by training camp. At this rate, it looks like he'll be back at 100 percent going into next season, meaning owners can draft him with high expectations after his breakout campaign in 2016. Mariota could easily wind up being one of the best value picks at quarterback, having legitimate QB1 potential.

Titans | Marcus Mariota switches to walking boot

Tue, 28 Feb 2017 23:05:29 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) has ditched the scooter that helped him keep weight off his repaired right leg and switched to a walking boot Tuesday, Feb. 28. It's the next step in his recovery from surgery to fix a broken fibula.

Fantasy Tip: This is right on schedule for Mariota, as he continues to be on track to return in time for training camp. As long as he returns at 100 percent, he could offer fantasy owners sneaky good value, after exhibiting shades of being a legitimate QB1 in his sophomore campaign this past season. Before going down in Week 16, Mariota registered 3,426 passing yards and 26 touchdowns compared to just nine interceptions. He also ran for 349 yards and recorded two rushing TDs.

Titans | Marcus Mariota recovering

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 19:09:56 -0800

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) is "doing very well" in his rehab from a broken fibula, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Fantasy Tip: The Titans plan on holding Mariota out of OTAs in an effort to make sure he doesn't suffer any kind of needless setback, so he is a very good bet to be fully healthy by the time training camp rolls around. Assuming Tennessee lands a top-notch receiver in the draft as expected, Mariota stands a very good chance of settling in as a midrange QB1 in 2017.
