Titans | Marcus Mariota may not play Thursday

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 11:30:57 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota said he is not sure if he will play in the final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota likely would see limited time if he does play in the final preseason game. He was a bit inconsistent during the preseason but will enter the season as the starter. Mariota should be considered as a low-end No. 2 quarterback in most leagues this season.

Titans | Marcus Mariota wants to improve

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 13:34:52 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota and the rest of the offense want to improve on third-down conversions and finishing drives Friday, Aug. 28, against the Kansas City Chiefs. Mariota said the Titans could have done a lot better on third downs in their last game against the St. Louis Rams. Mariota added that he wants the team to build on not turning the ball over, getting first downs, playing with rhythm and building chemistry.

Fantasy Tip: It's not that Mariota played poorly last week; he just could have led some more fruitful drives. There will obviously be some growing pains for Mariota. He can't be expected to play flawlessly in just his second preseason game. Be patient with Mariota, and don't draft him as your starting fantasy quarterback.

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 18:49:20 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed five of his eight pass attempts for 59 yards in a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: After an eventful debut that featured a couple of turnovers, Mariota avoided mistakes in his second start. The rookie should improve as the year goes on, but donít expect him to be more than a low-end QB2.

Titans | Marcus Mariota runs option play

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 17:54:15 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota ran an option-based play during practice Sunday, Aug. 16. Operating out of shotgun, Mariota faked a handoff to RB Bishop Sankey before sprinting to the left and throwing a slightly forward pass to WR Harry Douglas.

Fantasy Tip: The coaching staff has said it plans to install some plays that take advantage of Mariota's running ability, but despite the added dynamic, he should still be viewed as a low-end QB2 this season.

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 18:33:47 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Zach Mettenberger replaced QB Marcus Mariota early in the second quarter and went 8-for-11 passing for 129 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons Friday, Aug. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Unless something happens to Mariota, Mettenberger can be left on the waiver wire to start 2015.

Titans | Rough start for Marcus Mariota

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 18:09:43 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota threw an interception and lost a fumble on his first two drives in a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons Friday, Aug. 14. He finished 7-of-8 for 94 yards and did not run the ball.

Fantasy Tip: It was a rude awakening for Mariota, who had yet to turn the ball over during training camp. He did settle down nicely, but the rough start is a reminder that the rookie should still be viewed as a low-end QB2 in his rookie season.

Titans | Marcus Mariota looking good at camp

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 14:08:31 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has shown good knowledge of the playbook and skill during practice and still has not turned the ball over since the start of camp.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota likely will have an inconsistent season since will be starting as a rookie. Mariota could add fantasy value because of his ability to run the ball, but he probably will not be more than a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues.

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 12:36:41 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota went 9-for-17 during team drills at practice Friday, Aug. 7, which included four straight incompletions. He has gone 77-for-119 in team drills during training camp but still has not thrown an interception.

Titans | Marcus Mariota delivers under pressure

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 19:13:54 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota impressed head coach Ken Whisenhunt with a sideline throw to WR Kendall Wright during training camp Thursday, Aug. 6. "Great throw," Whisenhunt said. "That was really good. The defense was really coming after us today with the pressure, and that's really about as close of a test as you're going to get to what you'll see in a game. It was good to see him step up and make that throw."

Fantasy Tip: Mariota is off to a solid start in camp, but don't expect him to be more than a backup quarterback for fantasy purposes in his rookie season.

Titans | Hakeem Nicks turns heads in Nashville

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 18:32:12 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Hakeem Nicks has developed a rapport with QB Marcus Mariota early on in training camp, and could end up ahead of WRs Harry Douglas, Justin Hunter and Dorial Green-Beckham on the depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: The Nicks addition went unnoticed by many after his disappointment in Indianapolis, but he blamed the scheme for his lack of production. It sounds like things are on the up and up for Nicks in Nashville, but there is still a long way to go before he can be considered as anything more than a late-round flier in deeper fantasy formats.
