|Jets | Marcus Mariota in the mix for Jets?|
Thu, 26 Mar 2015 14:58:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Of course, Mariota would still have to be available for the Jets to draft him, which is far from a given. Mariota could very well be a backup even in New York in his first year, too. Rookie quarterbacks are always risky to roster in fantasy football leagues, unless you'd be willing to save them in a keeper and/or dynasty league.

|NFL | Marcus Mariota to go second overall?|
Thu, 26 Mar 2015 10:03:34 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 2 pick but they could trade the pick to a team looking for a starting quarterback. Mariota likely will compete for a starting job wherever he goes and would be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins a starting job.

|Chiefs | Marcus Mariota a fit in KC?|
Wed, 25 Mar 2015 14:53:46 -0700
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota would be a perfect fit for the Kansas City Chiefs and head coach Andy Reid, even if the team is committed to QB Alex Smith, in the opinion of NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. Kiper cites the success of former QB Donovan McNabb as Reid's quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Mariota is expected to be gone when KC picks at 18 overall, and the Chiefs are unlikely to trade up to take him. Reid said he didn't have a chance to meet with Mariota, either.
Fantasy Tip: Mariota will be nothing more than a weak QB2 in traditional fantasy leagues in 2015, and that's if he winds up with a starting gig. Mariota may be better off used at FantasyScore if he starts at any point next year, with the right matchup, of course.

|Saints | Marcus Mariota won't go to Saints|
Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:50:40 -0700
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota isn't an option for the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, according to head coach Sean Payton. Payton said the Saints will not move up in the first round in order to select Mariota. Payton also said there wasn't "one iota" of truth to rumors that New Orleans is looking to trade QB Drew Brees.
Fantasy Tip: The knock on Mariota is that he played in a spread offense in college that may not translate well to NFL offenses. However, he's likely to go early in the first round to a QB-needy team and compete for a starting job right away. Mariota may be worth a late-round flier in fantasy drafts, but you shouldn't expect much out of him right away.

|Buccaneers | Bucs open to drafting QB first overall|
Wed, 25 Mar 2015 09:02:57 -0700
Florida State QB Jameis Winston and Oregon QB Marcus Mariota are widely believed to be considered by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the first overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, and Bucs co-chairman Joel Glazer has approved the team taking either Winston or Mariota with the No. 1 overall selection. "But fundamentally, we believe in letting Lovie and Jason do all their ground work, and their staffs, come to their conclusions, discuss it with us, talk about their reasoning and as long as it makes sense, we're supportive. But at the end of the day, whatever decision we make, I see us all being on the same page, agreeing and moving forward," Glazer said.
Fantasy Tip: The Bucs are widely expected to draft Winston with the first overall pick, and he'll have a decent shot to win the starting job in training camp over Mike Glennon. However, in Winston's rookie year, he might only be worth a late-round flier as a weak QB2.

|Redskins | Washington willing to draft QB early|
Tue, 24 Mar 2015 13:30:43 -0700
Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan said that the team will go with the best player available in the 2015 NFL Draft with the No. 5 overall pick, which means that they could take a quarterback in that spot. McCloughan could be compelled to take Oregon QB Marcus Mariota if he's available at No. 5, even after the team said QB Robert Griffin III was the team's starter a month ago. McCloughan doesn't think anyone will be handed a job, and they'll have to compete to win a spot.
Fantasy Tip: Griffin is the team's starting quarterback right now, but he'll have to earn it in training camp this summer, and that task will become tougher if Mariota is on the roster in July. If Griffin indeed winds up being the starter in Week 1, he'll have to prove himself in the fantasy landscape as well. Consider him a QB2 with upside for more if he stays healthy.

|Titans | Marcus Mariota would start for Titans|
Tue, 24 Mar 2015 10:01:21 -0700
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota is a realistic option for the Tennessee Titans with the second overall selection in this year's NFL Draft, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt is impressed enough with Mariota that he would feel confident with him as the team's starting quarterback over QB Zach Mettenberger right off the bat in 2015. "If we pick him at No. 2, you definitely think he can be the Day 1 starter," Whisenhunt said. "He was impressive. ... Just the short time we spent with him on the board, he was very good." Whisenhunt dismissed the notion that he needs a pocket-based quarterback in his offense to succeed. Whisenhunt could also be trying to generate interest in the No. 2 pick if the Titans would want to trade out of it.
Fantasy Tip: Mariota has all kinds of physical skills that would endear him to NFL teams in the draft. However, he's not believed to be as pro-ready as Jameis Winston because of the spread attack he ran in college. If Mariota is starting in Week 1, he likely won't be anything more than a weak QB2 for fantasy owners in 2015.

|Redskins | Washington could trade down|
Mon, 23 Mar 2015 16:23:23 -0700
The Washington Redskins could trade out of their fifth overall draft pick in this year's NFL Draft, as teams are increasingly looking to trade up to select Oregon QB Marcus Mariota. "There is speculation that the Jets (at No. 6) could go for Marcus Mariota if he does fall to them. Possibly there's a team that is looking to jump over the Jets and draft Mariota. The Redskins, who we know gave up all those picks to draft RG3, could wind up reaping some of those rewards of trading down at No. 5," NFL media analyst Daniel Jeremiah said.

|Jets | Marcus Mariota needs to develop|
Mon, 23 Mar 2015 13:16:57 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Mariota could still be an option for the Jets in the first round, but it looks like he would be behind Smith in a possible competition for the starting quarterback job. Owners should consider whoever is the Jets starting quarterback as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback next season.

|Jets | Marcus Mariota to work out for NYJ|
Sat, 21 Mar 2015 08:34:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The Jets have not ruled out selecting Mariota if he is available, so there is a chance he competes for a starting job if he joins the Jets. He should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins a starting job next season.
