Lions | Cole Wick could start over Eric Ebron?

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 15:41:25 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Cole Wick looked "spectacular" in offseason practices and could be in line to push TE Eric Ebron for a starting job if he can carry over that momentum into training camp, according to Detroit Free Press reporter Carlos Monarrez.

Fantasy Tip: A 6-6, 255-pound undrafted tight end from Incarnate Word, Wick reportedly wowed his teammates on a regular basis without pads this spring. Monarrez cautions that he is not predicting Ebron will lose his job, only that he could. A more likely scenario would be Wick showing enough as a blocker to make Brandon Pettigrew expendable. At any rate, Wick is highly unlikely to be a meaningful contributor this season and should only be the radar of dynasty league owners at the moment.

Lions | Eric Ebron sat out OTAs

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 21:00:04 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (undisclosed) did not participate in OTAs because of an undisclosed injury.

Fantasy Tip: There is no indication that Ebron is dealing with a serious injury, and skipping OTAs may have been precautionary more than anything. He has the athletic tools to be a fantasy star, and he is a decent option to gamble on if you wait until the later rounds to grab a tight end.

Lions | Eric Ebron lost 10 pounds

Thu, 26 May 2016 18:13:34 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he lost 10 pounds this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron hasn't lived up to expectations, but he is poised for a bigger role in the offense in the wake of Calvin Johnson's retirement. He has the physical tools to be a major weapon in the passing game, and he is one tight end that should be available in the later rounds who could put up starting-caliber numbers.

Lions | Eric Ebron may see bigger role

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 14:17:01 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he hopes to become a safety net for QB Matthew Stafford in 2016 since WR Calvin Johnson decided to retire.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron should receive more targets because of the receiver situation and could become a focal point in the passing game. He probably will be a late-round option in most leagues and will be a No. 2 tight end or low-end starter in deeper leagues.

Lions | Tony Gonzalez comments on Eric Ebron

Sat, 06 Feb 2016 17:08:56 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron needs to change up his routine in order to reach his potential, according to retired TE Tony Gonzalez. "Whatever he's doing, is not helping him be the best," Gonzalez said. "If he could figure out a routine that would help him get to where he should be, then he'll be on his way. But a lot of guys don't do that; they don't figure it out."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been inconsistent up to this point, but he has the physical gifts to be a top fantasy option at his position. If you wait until later in your draft to grab a tight end, gambling on Ebron's upside could pay dividends.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely to see bigger role

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 21:55:12 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is likely to see a larger role in the offense regardless of whether WR Calvin Johnson retires or not.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron occasionally lined up outside, and he might see more of that role if Megatron is on the golf course or beach in 2016. Ebron could be a Top 10 fantasy option at his position in 2016.

Lions | Detroit TEs each post touchdowns

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 19:58:25 -0800

Detroit Lions TEs Eric Ebron and Tim Wright each found the end zone in the Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears. Ebron finished with five grabs for 25 yards and the TD, and Wright had a nine-yard reception for score.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron emerged as a decent fantasy option at times this season, posting a total of five touchdowns with 537 receiving yards. Depending on personnel moves and Brandon Pettigrew's health and contract status, Ebron could take another step forward in 2015. Wright is simply used for depth and has little to no fantasy appeal.

Lions | Eric Ebron falls just short of TD

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 22:49:25 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had four receptions for 79 yards in the Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Dec. 21. He was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron nearly had a fourth-quarter touchdown, but he was ruled down at the half-yard line. He has emerged as a useful FantasyScore option, and will be useful in the final two games with Brandon Pettigrew out of the picture.

Lions | Eric Ebron active

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 16:14:56 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (illness) is officially active for the Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has been held to 28 yards or fewer in each of his last six games and has one touchdown during that span. He does have a favorable matchup since the Saints have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Ebron because of his cheaper price.

Lions | Eric Ebron questionable

Sat, 19 Dec 2015 13:38:39 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (illness) was out of practice Saturday, Dec. 19, and is questionable for Monday, Dec. 21, against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) may be a game-time decision against the New Orleans Saints. He's a midrange FantasyScore option, but it's tough to use a Monday night player in question.

Lions | Eric Ebron sitting out

Sat, 19 Dec 2015 08:43:39 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (illness) is not participating in practice Saturday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron's ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) status is uncertain at this point, so owners should look for updates in his status. Ebron has been fairly quiet recently and may not be the best option for owners at this point.

Lions | Eric Ebron listed as limited

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 15:54:13 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (illness) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) probably will be able to play this week, but owners should still keep an eye on the situation. He has not posted more than 30 yards in any of the last six games but could still be a decent option since the New Orleans Saints have allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends this season.

Lions | Eric Ebron targeted five times

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 18:26:37 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted three receptions for 27 yards in the Week 14 game against the St. Louis Rams. He was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron could see a few more targets if Brandon Pettigrew is forced to miss time with the injury he suffered against the Rams. He is worth consideration as a mid-tier FantasyScore option in Week 15, as the New Orleans Saints rank dead-last in the NFL against opposing tight ends.

Lions | Eric Ebron expected to play

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 14:16:37 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps, hand) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25, but he is probable to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12 Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) dropped an easy touchdown pass in Week 11 and finished with no catches to severely disappoint his daily owners in a pristine matchup. He admits to being set back by essentially a new offense under Jim Bob Cooter. It's probably best to avoid Ebron until he shows he is once again a viable fantasy option for FantasyScore users.

Lions | Eric Ebron feels slump ending

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 09:11:10 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said his slump will end this week against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ebron has seven catches for 52 yards and three drops the last three games. Ebron said he has had to make some minor adjustments to new coordinator Jim Bob Cooter's offense that have contributed to his struggles in recent weeks. "He wants things different ways," Ebron said. "So you just have to adjust to him and as soon as I got comfortable where I was at, we had a change. So now I just got to adjust to it, and just pick up where I left off. I'll be all right."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) faces an Eagles team that has been among the best handful of teams against the position the last five weeks. He's a midrange option on FantasyScore.

Lions | Eric Ebron staying optimistic

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 17:32:05 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said his recent struggles will end this week. Ebron did not catch a pass last week against the Oakland Raiders and has only totaled seven catches for 52 yards the last three weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is just too big of a risk to consider starting right now, especially against the Philadelphia Eagles, who have only yielded two touchdowns and 41.9 yards per game to tight ends this year.

Lions | Eric Ebron puts in full practice

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 14:48:26 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps, hand) practiced in full Tuesday, Nov. 24, after being limited Monday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) was a bust for daily players in an excellent matchup last week, catching zero passes on zero targets. He's had a decent year, but it's hard to predict when he'll break out, and he's facing an unfavorable matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lions | Two Lions limited Monday

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 13:13:30 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) and TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps, hand) were limited in practice Monday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson tends to be limited every week, but he still ends up playing. Still, an eye should be kept on both Johnson and Ebron as they're both dealing with a short week. Johnson has a great matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, but, for Ebron, Philly has only allowed two touchdowns to tight ends in 10 games this season.

Lions | Eric Ebron a non-factor

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 16:43:08 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had zero catches on two targets in an 18-13 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a friendly matchup, Ebron failed to make an impact. He continues to fade after a strong start, and he has been held under 30 receiving yards in four of his last five games. He isn't a starting-caliber option at FantasyScore right now.

Lions | Eric Ebron draws friendly matchup

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 21:43:24 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron faces the Oakland Raiders in Week 11, and the Raiders have allowed a league-high 10 touchdowns to tight ends this season.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been quiet in recent weeks, but he is worth a look as a cheaper option at the position against such a friendly matchup.

Lions | Eric Ebron big in return

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 03:05:19 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) had five catches on five targets for 89 yards and a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) picked up where he left off prior to his injury, and he has now caught a touchdown in three of the four full games he has played this year. He is a solid alternative to the high-priced options at the position at FantasyScore.

Lions | Eric Ebron expected to play

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 14:02:46 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 23, and is probable for Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) had five catches (season-high 10 targets) for 43 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings in Week 2 and could be involved heavily in the short-passing game in his return. He's a sneaky FantasyScore pick this weekend with most folks probably having forgotten about him.

Lions | Full practice for Eric Ebron

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 14:29:53 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) was upgraded from limited to full, so he should be good to go against the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota has been one of the worst fantasy defenses against tight ends this year, making Ebron a consideration for FantasyScore lineups.

Lions | Eric Ebron limited

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 13:08:07 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has missed the last few games because of the injury but appears to have a good chance of playing against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7. Ebron will be a risky option since he is coming off injury, but the Vikings have had problems with opposing tight ends this season.

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 11:42:26 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to return from his knee injury in the near future, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron missed the last two games because of the injury but may have a chance to play in Week 7. Owners will need to monitor his practice participation during the week to determine his status.

Lions | Eric Ebron to miss another game

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 13:33:32 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 16, but has been ruled out for Week 6 against the Chicago Bears after he wasn't given medical clearance.

Fantasy Tip: In Ebron's absence last week, Brandon Pettigrew ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had just three catches for 29 yards, while Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) had three grabs for 12 yards. Neither tight end is worth considering again this weekend with Ebron remaining sidelined.

Lions | Eric Ebron remains limited

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 14:52:07 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) sat out last week and could be in danger of missing his second straight game. Keep an eye on his status but be prepared for him being a game-time decision, which makes him a very risky daily pick again this weekend.

Lions | Eric Ebron limited

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 13:46:28 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) missed the last game but looks like he may be on track to play in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears. Ebron may not be the best option for fantasy owners if he plays because of the injury and that the Bears play well against tight ends.

Lions | Detroit's Week 5 Inactives

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 11:49:47 -0700

Lions | Joique Bell, Eric Ebron ruled out

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 14:21:05 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) and TE Eric Ebron (knee) both missed practice Friday, Oct. 9, and have been ruled out for Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should yet again see the lion's share of touches in the backfield, but he's facing tough Cards defense and is a midrange running back pick. Brandon Pettigrew ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) should fill in at tight end with Ebron out, but neither are attractive sleeper picks on FantasyScore.

Lions | Eric Ebron unlikely to play

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 14:26:59 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) missed practice again Thursday, Oct. 8, and is unlikely to play in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) should be avoided unless he makes a miraculous recovery at the end of the week. Brandon Pettigrew ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is also banged up, but he and Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) are low-end tight end options if Ebron sits out.

Lions | Eric Ebron not practicing

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 13:12:36 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: If Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) isn't able to play this weekend, Brandon Pettigrew ($2,000, 4.0%) and Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4%) would likely see more playing time. They are unreliable however, and should only be rostered on FantasyScore in order to spend more at other positions.

Lions | Eric Ebron has bruised knee

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 06:58:39 -0700

Updating previous reports, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) said part of his knee ailment is a bruised knee that can take up to three weeks to heal, depending on the individual.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) will likely be questionable against the Arizona Cardinals but could still play and serve as a midrange TE on FantasyScore.

Lions | Eric Ebron's MRI clear

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 09:31:47 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) had an MRI reveal no structural damage in his left knee. His status is to be determined for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) seems questionable against the Arizona Cardinals. Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) would be a nice flyer on FantasyScore if Ebron can't suit up.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) seems questionable against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5. Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) would be a nice flyer on FantasyScore if Ebron can't suit up.

Detroit Lions TE Tim Wright took over as the primary tight end in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Oct. 5, after TE Eric Ebron (knee) left with an injury. Wright had a 26-yard reception on his only catch. He was targeted twice.

Fantasy Tip: Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) could be forced into the starting lineup if Ebron is forced to miss time and Brandon Pettigrew remains sidelined.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) left the Week 4 game against the Seattle Seahawks in the second quarter after going down and clutching his knee. He is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) will be back. If he cannot, Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is the only other healthy tight end on the roster.

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 18:34:52 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had five catches for 43 yards and a touchdown in a 26-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) had 25 catches and one touchdown as a rookie, and he already has nine catches and two scores after two games in 2015. He appears to have a steady role in the offense and is a viable low-priced alternative at FantasyScore.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert faces the San Diego Chargers in Week 2, and the Chargers allowed 53 receiving yards and a touchdown to Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) exploded in Week 1, and he appeared to be a major part of the offensive plan. He isn't the bargain he was at FantasyScore last weekend, but he is still worth considering.

Lions | Eric Ebron probable against Bolts

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 13:35:28 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Sept. 11, and is probable for Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: In a game that could very well be a shootout, Ebron ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is likely to be overlooked by most FantasyScore gamers after he failed to live up to expectations last season. Expect more targets and more receptions from him in his second season, and that could begin this Sunday. Consider him if you want to save money at the position.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) was limited again in practice Thursday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Even if he's been practicing in a limited fashion, Ebron ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should still be able to suit up this weekend. He's not the most consistent tight end, however. It's advisable to wait before rostering Ebron on FantasyScore.

Lions | Eric Ebron limited

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 14:00:24 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is taking things slowly this week but should be able to play in Week 1. Ebron should have a solid role in the passing game, but owners on FantasyScore may be able to find better options to use.

Lions | Eric Ebron has chemistry with QB

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 15:02:40 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has developed a rapport with QB Matthew Stafford this offseason. Ebron attributed communication and understanding what's going on in Stafford's head to their development. Stafford said he and Ebron are on the same page when they start talking and that Ebron understands the verbiage more than last year.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was only targeted 49 times in his rookie campaign last year. That number is sure to rise in his sophomore season. Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate will remain the Lions' top two options in the passing game, but Ebron could be primed for a breakout season. He's worth low-end TE2 consideration.

Lions | Eric Ebron wasn't 100% in 2014

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 19:40:50 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he was never 100% healthy last season. "I came out of college with a bunch of nicks and bruises and it stuck with me throughout the season. I could never get healthy, but now I found myself a very good trainer and a very good off-season staff to help me and they prepared my body for 16 (games)."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron is expected to be the third receiving option in the offense behind WRs Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, and the second-year tight end projects to take significant leap forward in 2015. He is a top-tier athlete and has the potential to flourish with Joe Lombardi's offense in its second season of execution. View Ebron as a low-end No. 1 TE with upside and worth targeting in the later rounds on draft day.

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 17:41:14 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron caught four passes, including a touchdown, from QB Matthew Stafford on a scoring drive during a scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was a bit of a disappointment as a rookie last season, but he has all the physical tools to be a dynamic offensive weapon. Look for him to make a big leap in 2015, and he makes a great upside pick later in drafts. Ebron could produce TE1 numbers.

Lions | Eric Ebron's a tight end to watch

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 17:39:39 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron could be in for a big year in 2015, according to Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated. Burke notes rookie tight ends typically struggle, and that Ebron should have a much bigger role in the offense in his second year in the league.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron finished the 2014 season with just 25 receptions for 248 yards over 13 games played in his rookie season. Ebron should surpass both Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria in the Lions' tight end rotation this season, and he'll be a strong option in the late rounds of 2015 fantasy drafts.

Lions | Eric Ebron making progress

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has made progress during offseason workouts and is expected to be the No. 3 target for the team in 2015. "He's grown up a little bit more," WR Golden Tate said. "His confidence is way high right now. He's playing well. I can't wait to see him in pads running around making plays. He's a specimen athletically. So we'll see."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron had a quiet rookie season with 248 yards and one touchdown in 13 games. He could have a solid role in the passing game this season if he is able to show more consistent production during training camp and the preseason. Owners probably should consider Ebron as a No. 2 tight end at this point, but he does have the potential to become a No. 1 fantasy option.

Lions | Eric Ebron working with Matthew Stafford

Thu, 02 Apr 2015 11:16:06 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron, from whom the team is expecting big things in 2015, has traveled to Atlanta this offseason to work on his routes with QB Matthew Stafford. Ebron had just 25 catches for 248 yards in his rookie season, and he missed three games with a hamstring ailment. Head coach Jim Caldwell expects Ebron to take a big step forward in his second year, and offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi echoed those sentiments. "As you look back, if you're self-critical, you might say maybe we asked a little bit too much of him, from that perspective. So I think there's just a volume that he struggled with early, but he was productive and, again, for anybody, the second year's always where you see the biggest jump," Lombardi said.

Fantasy Tip: In an offense that also features Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, Ebron definitely is in line for more production in his second season if he works hard to improve. Draft him as a TE2 with plenty of upside to finish the season as a TE1.

Lions | Bigger role coming for Eric Ebron

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 17:56:57 -0700

The Detroit Lions are expecting TE Eric Ebron to make a big jump from his rookie season to year number two. "Ebron's the guy we're counting on to be that (No. 3 option)," offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said Tuesday, March 31.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron is expected to take a giant leap, serving as the No. 3 receiver behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. If he is able to live up to expectations he could be a huge steal on draft day. Right now, he is best targeted in the late middle rounds, but with a strong training camp and preseason his value could bump up even more.
