Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (back) is officially active for the team's Week 3 game.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (back) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron appears to be on track to play this week, but owners should keep an eye out on the inactive list before setting their lineup. He has recorded 99 yards and one touchdown in the first two games of the season and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron limited

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 15:15:16 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (back) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron didn't practice yesterday, so the limited status is a positive sign. The Green Bay Packers have been susceptible to tight ends, too, yielding nearly 150 yards and two touchdowns to the position in two games. Ebron is a borderline TE1 for Week 3.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor his practice participation this week to see if he will be able to play in Week 3. He has been a solid part of the Lions passing game in the first two games and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end if he plays.

Lions | Eric Ebron quiet in Week 2

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 14:37:08 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron caught four passes for 53 yards in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Sept. 18. He had a touchdown called back by an offensive penalty.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron's line would have been much better if that questionable call didn't go against him. He is a matchup play in most fantasy setups for the near future, and a daily play of him in Week 3 isn't out of the question.

Lions | Eric Ebron will be in uniform

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 12:33:55 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) is officially active for the team's Week 1 game.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron missed a majority of the preseason because of the ankle injury but should have a solid role in the passing game. He could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues or a flex option in some leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron expects to be at full speed

Sat, 10 Sep 2016 19:56:23 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) said he doesn't expect to have any problems being at full speed against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. "The only time I was rusty is when I was born," Ebron said.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has always possessed special athleticism, but it hasn't translated to consistent results on the field. He is a fringe TE1 for the opener and a boom-or-bust option in DFS play.

Fri, 09 Sep 2016 13:38:21 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 9, and is listed as questionable for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was a full participant in practice this week and will have a role in the passing game in Week 1. Ebron could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues as well as an attractive option in daily fantasy leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron practices in full

Wed, 07 Sep 2016 16:37:08 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron should have a decent role in the passing game as long as he is healthy and should see some of the targets that Calvin Johnson would have received. Ebron could be a starting option in deeper leagues, but owners may have better options at the position.

Lions | Eric Ebron practices

Mon, 05 Sep 2016 14:28:18 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) returned to practice Monday, Sept. 5.

Fantasy Tip: This is definitely a positive sign for Ebron's availability in Week 1. His status will need to be tracked leading up to the weekend, but he would be a sneaky start in what could be a high-scoring affair against the Indianapolis Colts.

Lions | Eric Ebron 50-50 for opener

Wed, 31 Aug 2016 07:17:12 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) is 50-50 to play in Week 1, in the opinion of beat writer Dave Birkett.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron is a breakout candidate if he can remain healthy. He'll be available in the midrange of the TE1 area in drafts.

Lions | Eric Ebron not on the field

Thu, 25 Aug 2016 10:28:56 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) is not participating in practice Thursday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was on the field earlier in the week but does not appear ready to practice at this point. Ebron is expected to be ready for Week 1, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 or a high-end No. 2 tight end in most leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron on track for opener

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 07:03:30 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) is expected to play in Week 1, barring a setback, according to a source. Ebron has an outside chance at playing in the final preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron is a breakout candidate that figures to be a big cog in an offense that took off under Jim Bob Cooter late last season. Ebron is a midrange TE1 with upside.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely for Week 1?

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 14:13:06 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) still has no timetable for a return, but there is some optimism he'll be "ready to roll" by Week 1, according to Detroit Free Press writer Dave Birkett.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron is still not practicing, but he was reportedly spotted jogging and caught passes from a JUGS machine Sunday. Birkett also tweeted it was the first time he'd seen the third-year tight end run since he first suffered his ankle injury on Aug. 6. Given his injury history and the plethora of pass-catching weapons Detroit has at the moment, Ebron should probably be considered a high-upside TE2.

Lions | Eric Ebron expected to sit Friday

Wed, 10 Aug 2016 16:53:39 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) is expected to sit the team's preseason opener Friday, August 12, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ebron hasn't practiced since suffering the injury in a mock game Saturday, August 6.

Fantasy Tip: With Ebron out and fellow tight end Brandon Pettigrew still sidelined, that means Matthew Mulligan will get reps with the first-team offense, though he's just a blocking tight end and carries minimal fantasy potential if he were even featured in the offense during the regular season. Undrafted rookie Cole Wick will also get a boost.

Lions | Eric Ebron has sprained ankle

Mon, 08 Aug 2016 10:25:41 -0700

Updating previous reports, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) has a "pretty decent" right ankle sprain, according to a source. Lions head coach Jim Caldwell refused to address the injury when asked Monday, Aug. 8.

Fantasy Tip: That's a huge break for fantasy owners and the Detroit offense as a whole. Consider Ebron to be questionable for Week 1 at this point, however. He's a great TE2 target with upside to perform as a top-flight player at his position.

Lions | Optimism for Eric Ebron

Mon, 08 Aug 2016 07:51:42 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (foot) had a sleeve on his right foot on the sidelines Monday, Aug. 8, but he was not wearing a boot.

Fantasy Tip: Initial reports were fears that he may have torn his Achilles', but today's sighting lends us to believe that may have been avoided. There's no timetable for his return, but if he can make it back quickly, he's breakout candidate as a low-end TE1.

Lions | Eric Ebron expects to be fine

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 14:24:10 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (undisclosed) told at least two teammates that he is OK after it was feared he may have torn his right Achilles' tendon, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: While owners will need to wait for an official diagnosis, they'll take this bit of a good news on what could have been a terrible day for the young tight end. Assuming he is fine, expect Detroit to be overly cautious with him over the next week or so. Ebron should be the Lions' top red-zone option in 2016 and is a strong candidate to be a TE1 in 12-team leagues.

Lions | Eric Ebron may have torn Achilles'

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 11:17:40 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (undisclosed) may have torn his right Achilles' tendon, the team fears, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Should it be an Achilles' tear or rupture, Ebron's season is almost definitely finished. A season-long loss would be devastating to the Lions' passing attack and really put a kink into the plans of fantasy drafters looking at the high-upside tight end. Await confirmation and prepare for the worst.

Lions | Eric Ebron carted off field Saturday

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 10:04:42 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (leg) was carted off the field after suffering a lower right leg injury during practice Saturday, Aug. 6. He grabbed the back of his leg and was unable to put weight on it as he rose to his feet.

Fantasy Tip: If Ebron is sidelined for an extended period of time, this would be a crushing blow to the Lions' offense, especially following WR Calvin Johnson's retirement at the end of the 2015 season. With TE Brandon Pettigrew (knee) already on the Physically Unable to Perform list, Matt Mulligan and Cole Wick appear to be the most likely candidates to receive substantial playing time at tight end if the injury is serious. Stay tuned for further updates on Ebron's condition.

Lions | Eric Ebron held out of practice Friday

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 08:51:12 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (undisclosed) missed practice due to an undisclosed injury that is believed to be minor in nature Friday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: After disappointing in his first two years, Ebron appears poised to have a breakout season in 2016, with more targets likely headed his way as a result of the retirement of Calvin Johnson. He should be viewed as a low-end TE1 in deeper seasonal leagues and should be available in the later rounds of this year's fantasy drafts.

Lions | Eric Ebron earns praise from Matt Stafford

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 13:46:49 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is more mature, according to QB Matthew Stafford. "He's a guy that wants to put the work in," Stafford said. "I'm expecting a lot of good things from him."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron is poised to take a big leap forward in his third season, and while the recent acquisition of WR Anquan Boldin could cut into a few of his targets, Ebron is still in line for a breakout campaign. He's a great target toward the end of drafts as a starting tight end, and there's upside for him to finish the year having provided a high-end return at the position.

Lions | Cole Wick could start over Eric Ebron?

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 15:41:25 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Cole Wick looked "spectacular" in offseason practices and could be in line to push TE Eric Ebron for a starting job if he can carry over that momentum into training camp, according to Detroit Free Press reporter Carlos Monarrez.

Fantasy Tip: A 6-6, 255-pound undrafted tight end from Incarnate Word, Wick reportedly wowed his teammates on a regular basis without pads this spring. Monarrez cautions that he is not predicting Ebron will lose his job, only that he could. A more likely scenario would be Wick showing enough as a blocker to make Brandon Pettigrew expendable. At any rate, Wick is highly unlikely to be a meaningful contributor this season and should only be the radar of dynasty league owners at the moment.

Lions | Eric Ebron sat out OTAs

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 21:00:04 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (undisclosed) did not participate in OTAs because of an undisclosed injury.

Fantasy Tip: There is no indication that Ebron is dealing with a serious injury, and skipping OTAs may have been precautionary more than anything. He has the athletic tools to be a fantasy star, and he is a decent option to gamble on if you wait until the later rounds to grab a tight end.

Lions | Eric Ebron lost 10 pounds

Thu, 26 May 2016 18:13:34 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he lost 10 pounds this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron hasn't lived up to expectations, but he is poised for a bigger role in the offense in the wake of Calvin Johnson's retirement. He has the physical tools to be a major weapon in the passing game, and he is one tight end that should be available in the later rounds who could put up starting-caliber numbers.

Lions | Eric Ebron may see bigger role

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 14:17:01 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he hopes to become a safety net for QB Matthew Stafford in 2016 since WR Calvin Johnson decided to retire.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron should receive more targets because of the receiver situation and could become a focal point in the passing game. He probably will be a late-round option in most leagues and will be a No. 2 tight end or low-end starter in deeper leagues.

Lions | Tony Gonzalez comments on Eric Ebron

Sat, 06 Feb 2016 17:08:56 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron needs to change up his routine in order to reach his potential, according to retired TE Tony Gonzalez. "Whatever he's doing, is not helping him be the best," Gonzalez said. "If he could figure out a routine that would help him get to where he should be, then he'll be on his way. But a lot of guys don't do that; they don't figure it out."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has been inconsistent up to this point, but he has the physical gifts to be a top fantasy option at his position. If you wait until later in your draft to grab a tight end, gambling on Ebron's upside could pay dividends.

Lions | Eric Ebron likely to see bigger role

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 21:55:12 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is likely to see a larger role in the offense regardless of whether WR Calvin Johnson retires or not.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron occasionally lined up outside, and he might see more of that role if Megatron is on the golf course or beach in 2016. Ebron could be a Top 10 fantasy option at his position in 2016.

Lions | Detroit TEs each post touchdowns

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 19:58:25 -0800

Detroit Lions TEs Eric Ebron and Tim Wright each found the end zone in the Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears. Ebron finished with five grabs for 25 yards and the TD, and Wright had a nine-yard reception for score.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron emerged as a decent fantasy option at times this season, posting a total of five touchdowns with 537 receiving yards. Depending on personnel moves and Brandon Pettigrew's health and contract status, Ebron could take another step forward in 2015. Wright is simply used for depth and has little to no fantasy appeal.

Lions | Eric Ebron falls just short of TD

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 22:49:25 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had four receptions for 79 yards in the Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Dec. 21. He was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron nearly had a fourth-quarter touchdown, but he was ruled down at the half-yard line. He has emerged as a useful FantasyScore option, and will be useful in the final two games with Brandon Pettigrew out of the picture.

Lions | Eric Ebron active

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 16:14:56 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (illness) is officially active for the Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has been held to 28 yards or fewer in each of his last six games and has one touchdown during that span. He does have a favorable matchup since the Saints have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Ebron because of his cheaper price.

Lions | Eric Ebron questionable

Sat, 19 Dec 2015 13:38:39 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (illness) was out of practice Saturday, Dec. 19, and is questionable for Monday, Dec. 21, against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) may be a game-time decision against the New Orleans Saints. He's a midrange FantasyScore option, but it's tough to use a Monday night player in question.

Lions | Eric Ebron sitting out

Sat, 19 Dec 2015 08:43:39 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (illness) is not participating in practice Saturday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron's ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) status is uncertain at this point, so owners should look for updates in his status. Ebron has been fairly quiet recently and may not be the best option for owners at this point.

Lions | Eric Ebron listed as limited

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 15:54:13 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (illness) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) probably will be able to play this week, but owners should still keep an eye on the situation. He has not posted more than 30 yards in any of the last six games but could still be a decent option since the New Orleans Saints have allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends this season.

Lions | Eric Ebron targeted five times

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 18:26:37 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted three receptions for 27 yards in the Week 14 game against the St. Louis Rams. He was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron could see a few more targets if Brandon Pettigrew is forced to miss time with the injury he suffered against the Rams. He is worth consideration as a mid-tier FantasyScore option in Week 15, as the New Orleans Saints rank dead-last in the NFL against opposing tight ends.

Lions | Eric Ebron expected to play

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 14:16:37 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps, hand) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25, but he is probable to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12 Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) dropped an easy touchdown pass in Week 11 and finished with no catches to severely disappoint his daily owners in a pristine matchup. He admits to being set back by essentially a new offense under Jim Bob Cooter. It's probably best to avoid Ebron until he shows he is once again a viable fantasy option for FantasyScore users.

Lions | Eric Ebron feels slump ending

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 09:11:10 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said his slump will end this week against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ebron has seven catches for 52 yards and three drops the last three games. Ebron said he has had to make some minor adjustments to new coordinator Jim Bob Cooter's offense that have contributed to his struggles in recent weeks. "He wants things different ways," Ebron said. "So you just have to adjust to him and as soon as I got comfortable where I was at, we had a change. So now I just got to adjust to it, and just pick up where I left off. I'll be all right."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) faces an Eagles team that has been among the best handful of teams against the position the last five weeks. He's a midrange option on FantasyScore.

Lions | Eric Ebron staying optimistic

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 17:32:05 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said his recent struggles will end this week. Ebron did not catch a pass last week against the Oakland Raiders and has only totaled seven catches for 52 yards the last three weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is just too big of a risk to consider starting right now, especially against the Philadelphia Eagles, who have only yielded two touchdowns and 41.9 yards per game to tight ends this year.

Lions | Eric Ebron puts in full practice

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 14:48:26 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps, hand) practiced in full Tuesday, Nov. 24, after being limited Monday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) was a bust for daily players in an excellent matchup last week, catching zero passes on zero targets. He's had a decent year, but it's hard to predict when he'll break out, and he's facing an unfavorable matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lions | Two Lions limited Monday

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 13:13:30 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) and TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps, hand) were limited in practice Monday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson tends to be limited every week, but he still ends up playing. Still, an eye should be kept on both Johnson and Ebron as they're both dealing with a short week. Johnson has a great matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, but, for Ebron, Philly has only allowed two touchdowns to tight ends in 10 games this season.

Lions | Eric Ebron a non-factor

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 16:43:08 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had zero catches on two targets in an 18-13 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a friendly matchup, Ebron failed to make an impact. He continues to fade after a strong start, and he has been held under 30 receiving yards in four of his last five games. He isn't a starting-caliber option at FantasyScore right now.

Lions | Eric Ebron draws friendly matchup

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 21:43:24 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron faces the Oakland Raiders in Week 11, and the Raiders have allowed a league-high 10 touchdowns to tight ends this season.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been quiet in recent weeks, but he is worth a look as a cheaper option at the position against such a friendly matchup.

Lions | Eric Ebron big in return

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 03:05:19 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) had five catches on five targets for 89 yards and a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) picked up where he left off prior to his injury, and he has now caught a touchdown in three of the four full games he has played this year. He is a solid alternative to the high-priced options at the position at FantasyScore.

Lions | Eric Ebron expected to play

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 14:02:46 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 23, and is probable for Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) had five catches (season-high 10 targets) for 43 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings in Week 2 and could be involved heavily in the short-passing game in his return. He's a sneaky FantasyScore pick this weekend with most folks probably having forgotten about him.

Lions | Full practice for Eric Ebron

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 14:29:53 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) was upgraded from limited to full, so he should be good to go against the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota has been one of the worst fantasy defenses against tight ends this year, making Ebron a consideration for FantasyScore lineups.

Lions | Eric Ebron limited

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 13:08:07 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has missed the last few games because of the injury but appears to have a good chance of playing against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7. Ebron will be a risky option since he is coming off injury, but the Vikings have had problems with opposing tight ends this season.

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 11:42:26 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to return from his knee injury in the near future, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron missed the last two games because of the injury but may have a chance to play in Week 7. Owners will need to monitor his practice participation during the week to determine his status.

Lions | Eric Ebron to miss another game

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 13:33:32 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 16, but has been ruled out for Week 6 against the Chicago Bears after he wasn't given medical clearance.

Fantasy Tip: In Ebron's absence last week, Brandon Pettigrew ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had just three catches for 29 yards, while Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) had three grabs for 12 yards. Neither tight end is worth considering again this weekend with Ebron remaining sidelined.
