Detroit Lions rookie TE Eric Ebron exudes charisma and vocal leadership skills that are commonly found among team captains. He took on a "front and center" role at the NFL Rookie Symposium, while other Lions rookies stayed out of the spotlight. Ebron wasn't a captain in three years at North Carolina, because head coach Larry Fedora required captains to be senior classmen.
"I don't ever talk about being a leader. I just always do actions," Ebron said. "I've never been a vocal person about leadership and about being, 'Hey man, you ought to do this.' We're all grown men. I just always show through actions or whisper, 'Hey, let's go.' That's all I do."

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said in a Tuesday, July 8 interview that his timing with QB Matthew Stafford has been great. Ebron said Stafford has a good understanding of how Ebron can help the team.
Fantasy Tip: This is encouraging news in the fantasy football realm, but Ebron is still one of three main tight ends on the Lions with Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria also in the mix. He's only worth a late-round stash in standard leagues.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said in a Tuesday, July 8 interview that fans should expect an "awful lot" of two-tight end sets this season. Ebron and TEs Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria figure to split time at the position.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has been lining up everywhere on the field, and it is overwhelming to him. "I've been everywhere and that is what's killing me," Ebron said. "I'm used to either learning the Y or learning the A, which we had at North Carolina. But now it's the Y, the F, the Z."

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he expects to line up in the slot 50 percent of the time this season. He said he expects to be on the line with his hand in the ground 40 percent of the time and in the backfield 10 percent of the time.
Fantasy Tip: Lining up in wide receiver positions is part of what makes New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham so effective in the passing game. Ebron has a similar ceiling, but growing pains should be expected. Ebron is a TE2 with upside.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he wants his position to be known as a "hybrid" or "joker," and not a tight end. "I believe we should start either being called a hybrid or joker," Ebron said. "I think the 'tight end' word or name is traditional, but it's overplayed. It's overplayed into what people assume a tight end is."

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron, the team's first-round pick, is expected to battle TE Brandon Pettigrew for playing time in offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi's offense. Ebron could play a role similar to TE Jimmy Graham in the New Orleans Saints offense, and the Lions could use plenty of two tight end sets.
Fantasy Tip: Ebron has nice upside in what should continue to be a high-flying aerial offense. However, he must improve his blocking in order to improve all around, and he'll compete for looks with Pettigrew. Draft Ebron as your TE2 with upside.
