Lions | Eric Ebron's a tight end to watch

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 17:39:39 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron could be in for a big year in 2015, according to Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated. Burke notes rookie tight ends typically struggle, and that Ebron should have a much bigger role in the offense in his second year in the league.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron finished the 2014 season with just 25 receptions for 248 yards over 13 games played in his rookie season. Ebron should surpass both Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria in the Lions' tight end rotation this season, and he'll be a strong option in the late rounds of 2015 fantasy drafts.

Lions | Eric Ebron making progress

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 10:55:48 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has made progress during offseason workouts and is expected to be the No. 3 target for the team in 2015. "He's grown up a little bit more," WR Golden Tate said. "His confidence is way high right now. He's playing well. I can't wait to see him in pads running around making plays. He's a specimen athletically. So we'll see."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron had a quiet rookie season with 248 yards and one touchdown in 13 games. He could have a solid role in the passing game this season if he is able to show more consistent production during training camp and the preseason. Owners probably should consider Ebron as a No. 2 tight end at this point, but he does have the potential to become a No. 1 fantasy option.

Lions | Eric Ebron working with Matthew Stafford

Thu, 02 Apr 2015 11:16:06 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron, from whom the team is expecting big things in 2015, has traveled to Atlanta this offseason to work on his routes with QB Matthew Stafford. Ebron had just 25 catches for 248 yards in his rookie season, and he missed three games with a hamstring ailment. Head coach Jim Caldwell expects Ebron to take a big step forward in his second year, and offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi echoed those sentiments. "As you look back, if you're self-critical, you might say maybe we asked a little bit too much of him, from that perspective. So I think there's just a volume that he struggled with early, but he was productive and, again, for anybody, the second year's always where you see the biggest jump," Lombardi said.

Fantasy Tip: In an offense that also features Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, Ebron definitely is in line for more production in his second season if he works hard to improve. Draft him as a TE2 with plenty of upside to finish the season as a TE1.

Lions | Bigger role coming for Eric Ebron

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 17:56:57 -0700

The Detroit Lions are expecting TE Eric Ebron to make a big jump from his rookie season to year number two. "Ebron's the guy we're counting on to be that (No. 3 option)," offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said Tuesday, March 31.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron is expected to take a giant leap, serving as the No. 3 receiver behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. If he is able to live up to expectations he could be a huge steal on draft day. Right now, he is best targeted in the late middle rounds, but with a strong training camp and preseason his value could bump up even more.

Lions | DET expecting Eric Ebron to improve

Thu, 26 Mar 2015 08:31:51 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has been impressive with his offseason work, and the team is expecting him to take a significant step in his play next season, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was limited to 248 receiving yards and one touchdown this past season, but he could have a bigger role next season. Owners should consider Ebron as a No. 2 tight end entering drafts next season.

Lions | Eric Ebron expanding his game

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 17:35:43 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has been improving as a blocker and progressing as an overall player, head coach Jim Caldwell said Monday, Dec. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron is a special athlete, but his offensive production has left a lot to be desired in his rookie year. However, his head coach seems to be happy with Ebron's development, and he could be a sneaky sleeper later in drafts next year.

Lions | Eric Ebron settling in

Sat, 13 Dec 2014 17:39:06 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has logged 12 of his 22 catches in the last four weeks, and head coach Jim Caldwell said he believes Ebron is starting to settle in at the NFL level. "I think he's a lot more comfortable with things," Caldwell said. "You can see that he doesn't have to think as much about the calls that are being made in the huddle and things of that nature, and that happens."

Fantasy Tip: Ebron still isn't worth taking a chance on at FantasyScore, but his numbers are trending in the right direction. Don't forget about him when next season rolls around.

Lions | Eric Ebron to see more work

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 10:13:47 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is slated to be on the field more often now that TE Joseph Fauria (ankle) is out for the rest of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($3,100) has had three catches and four targets in each of the last two weeks. Expect him to be utilized more often for the rest of the year, but that shouldn't elevate his fantasy value enough to make him that much more intriguing at FantasyScore. His matchup against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend isn't a good one, either.

Lions | Detroit not dropping passes

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 14:40:26 -0800

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford has completed three percent more of his passes this year than last year, and the team's reduction in dropped passes is likely the key. Last year, the Lions dropped 8.1 percent of passes. No Lions player has more than three drops on the year, with RB Joique Bell, TE Eric Ebron and WR Calvin Johnson with three drops each.

Lions | Eric Ebron probable against Cards

Fri, 14 Nov 2014 13:35:39 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) practiced for the third straight day Friday, Nov. 14, and is probable for Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron costs only $3,000 at FantasyScore against the Cardinals. He hasn't caught a pass since Oct. 12, though, and with Calvin Johnson back in the mix, Ebron is low on the pecking order for Matthew Stafford. You're better off looking elsewhere for a tight end.
