Pirates | Gregory Polanco had PRP injection

Sat, 12 Dec 2015 12:18:23 -0800

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco (knee) said he underwent a platelet-rich plasma injection in his left knee shortly after the 2015 season because the knee was bothering him late in the year.

Fantasy Tip: The 24-year-old Polanco hit .256 with nine home runs, 52 RBIs and 27 stolen bases during his first full season in the majors. It is uncertain how this will impact his offseason conditioning program but he should be ready to go by the time spring training camp opens. He should be selected in the middle rounds of all fantasy formats.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco on the bench

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 08:10:26 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel Saturday, Sept. 26. OF Travis Snider will start in right field and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) probably will return to the starting lineup in the next few days. Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting only .200 this month but does have eight RBI during that span. Owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco, Aramis Ramirez back in

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 10:23:43 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco (ankle, knee) and 3B Aramis Ramirez (groin) are back in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Friday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Coming off an injury and facing a tough lefty, Polanco ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) isn't a strong daily pick. He's hitting just .207 (24-for-116) with two of his nine home runs against southpaws. A-Ram ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is more acceptable as a value pick and has five hits in 11 career at-bats against Lester, but he too is coming off an injury.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco is OK

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 07:57:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco (ankle, knee) said he is fine after his right ankle bent awkwardly as he went into second base Wednesday, Sept. 23. His knee was worse off.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) sat out as a precaution Thursday and could do so again Friday, so make sure he's in the lineup before taking him on FantasyScore. The Bucs are facing Chicago Cubs lefty Jon Lester, though, so it's probably best to avoid him anyway this afternoon.

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 10:40:03 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 24. OF Jaff Decker is starting in right field and batting second against Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis.

Fantasy Tip: Decker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .200 (4-for-20) in a small sample size and shouldn't be considered as anything more than a really deep sleeper for FantasyScore lineups despite the nice lineup position.

Pirates | No Gregory Polanco against lefty

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 15:11:38 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the lineup against Chicago Cubs left-handed SP Jon Lester for Game 2 of a doubleheader Tuesday, Sept. 15. 1B Sean Rodriguez is starting in right field and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) isn't much of an offensive force with a .251 average (53-for-211) and just four home runs this year. He doesn't appeal to FantasyScore users.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco sitting vs. Brewers

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 08:20:07 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 13. OF Travis Snider is starting in right field and batting seventh against Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Polanco ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Sunday. He is off to a slow start this month with a .196/.241/.294 slash line through his first 12 September games. Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is nothing but a desperation source of cap relief at FantasyScore Sunday, as he has struggled to gain any traction at the dish this season and owns a .658 OPS for the year.

Pittsburgh Pirates INF/OF Sean Rodriguez will bat seventh and play right field against St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia Saturday, Sept 5. OF Gregory Polanco is out of the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is batting .378 since Aug. 1 and could be a solid value play in FantasyScore this afternoon.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco out vs. Miami

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 14:30:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the lineup against Miami Marlins left-handed SP Chris Narveson Wednesday, Aug. 26. 3B Josh Harrison is starting in right field and hitting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has been quiet since his return from the DL, but this is the exact type of matchup that could get him going -- a soft-tossing, hittable lefty. Harrison has good marks against southpaws this year, too (.292/.356/.385).
