Pirates | Gregory Polanco sticking atop lineup?

Fri, 01 May 2015 14:45:11 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is batting leadoff for a second consecutive game Friday, May 1.

Fantasy Tip: Josh Harrison ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) had been leading off, but Polanco ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) might be better suited for the gig. Polanco is 15-for-44 (.341 average) with 12 runs and five stolen bases over his last 12 games, after all. Polanco's stolen base and runs scored potential receives a boost leading off, but his RBI takes a minor hit. Overall, consider it a positive for Polanco.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco feeling better

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 16:24:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco (groin) took batting practice Tuesday, April 28, prior to the game against the Chicago Cubs. Polanco said he is fine and is feeling better. OF Sean Rodriguez is starting in right field and batting eighth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) could be worth a look in GPP tournaments on FantasyScore as he is hitting .353 through 18 plate appearances, with one home run and a stolen base. Rodriguez is a career .227 hitter so regression is on the way, but anyone looking in the range of $200 above the minimum price, will be hard pressed to do better.

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 15:54:22 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco (undisclosed) has been scratched from the starting lineup Monday, April 27. OF Andrew Lambo will take Polanco's place and is batting second.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco swiping with ease

Sun, 26 Apr 2015 05:27:45 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco stole a base in the third consecutive game Saturday, April 25. Polanco now has seven steals on the season, and he has yet to be caught in the act.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) hasn't exploded out of the gates, but he is two games removed from a nice 11-for-25 run where he scored six runs, had five extra-base hits, drove in four runs and stole three bases. While the uptick in stolen bases is a plus for seasonal owners, it is also a sneaky path to FantasyScore points, as they're worth 2.0 points. Keep Polanco in mind when facing a favorable pitching matchup, as he is a nice source of cap relief for daily contests.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 13:27:37 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the lineup Tuesday, April 21, against the Chicago Cubs. OF Sean Rodriguez is batting instead.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is likely out of the lineup due to a left-handed pitcher. Rodriguez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has a small sample size. In his last six at-bats Rodriguez has three hits, so he might be worth the gamble if you want to spend your money on other positions.

Pirates | Pittsburgh trying to ink Gregory Polanco

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 13:40:55 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco has rekindled contract talks with the organization, according to sources. Pittsburgh offered Polanco a seven-year, $50 million deal last May, and they previously signed star OFs Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte to similar long-term deals to what Polanco was offered.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is a breakout candidate in his sophomore season after a mediocre debut in 2014. He is a solid upside target in the late middle rounds of season drafts. Polanco's FantasyScore price point has increased production built in, so you'll want to target him in favorable matchups only to start the season.
