Vikings | Minnesota tempted to start Teddy Bridgewater

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 11:38:24 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater was reportedly very close to overtaking Case Keenum for the starting job in large part because the Vikings view Bridgewater as "their franchise," according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.

Fantasy Tip: What it means is that Keenum will be on the shortest of leashes despite throwing for four touchdowns in Week 10. The Vikings need to be able to make a decision on him as he can become a free agent after the season. Minnesota knows Keenum is a placeholder at best; what the team needs to find out is if Bridgewater is more than what he showed in a limited offense built around Adrian Peterson in 2014 and 2015. He's worth stashing in all fantasy leagues.

Vikings | Case Keenum will remain starter

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 13:20:17 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum will continue to start despite QB Teddy Bridgewater being available to return.

Fantasy Tip: It would have been difficult to bench Keenum for Bridgewater given the circumstances. The Vikings are rolling on offense, Keenum is playing well and they're riding a five-game winning streak. Why mess up the momentum? Even so, Keenum can't be trusted as QB1 this week in a tough matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 18:44:49 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is throwing the ball better than he was before his knee injury, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't that long ago that Bridgewater's career was in question, but now it looks like he could be starting games before the end of the season. He is worth stashing in dynasty formats.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater full go

Wed, 08 Nov 2017 13:42:06 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater looks good to go, at least physically. The timing of his return works out perfectly with Sam Bradford going on IR. It's unclear exactly when Bridgewater will start again, though. Be prepared for Case Keenum to start at least one more week. He's been solid in place of Bradford and Bridgewater this year but is not a QB1.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is expected to be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list this week and likely will be active for Week 10, according to sources. QB Case Keenum is expected to remain the starting quarterback for now.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater has missed over a year because of a serious knee injury but has a chance to start at some point before the end of the season. Owners in deeper leagues should keep an eye on the situation because Bridgewater could have some value late in the season.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater appears close to returning

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 07:32:51 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) could resume playing as soon as Week 10 versus the Washington Redskins, according to a source informed of the situation. It is believed that he could be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list after the team's Week 9 bye and could compete with QB Case Keenum for the starting job.

Fantasy Tip: The 24-year-old Bridgewater has been sidelined since the 2016 preseason due to a significant left knee injury suffered on a non-contact play. Even if he does regain the starting quarterback job, fantasy owners should avoid using Bridgewater in his first few weeks back so that he can prove he is both healthy and effective.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater likely to miss London game

Tue, 24 Oct 2017 07:37:22 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) will likely be left off the active roster for the team's London game in Week 8. The team is concerned that the field will be slippery and could expose Bridgewater to further injury.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Bridgewater is activated, the question is will he play? Bridgewater may be a good flyer in long-term dynasty leagues, but unless Case Keenum gets hurt or has a bad outing Bridgewater may not see the light of day on a football field.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater has great first practice

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 18:10:32 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) returned to practice Wednesday, Oct. 18, following a 14-month absence, and received rave reviews, with TE Kyle Rudolph even comparing him to retired QB Joe Montana. However, head coach Mike Zimmer said that Bridgewater "probably" won't play this week.

Fantasy Tip: It's awesome to see Bridgewater back on the field after sustaining a career-threatening injury last summer. It's even better that he apparently picked up where he left off after having what was reportedly a very good practice. While this is a great start for the 24-year-old, owners shouldn't start considering him as a serious fantasy option for at least several more weeks.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater will come off PUP list

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 11:40:00 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) will be taken off the Physically Unable to Perform list and should practice Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: It's been a long time coming for Bridgewater to return to practice. Case Keenum has filled in splendidly for the most part with both Bridgewater and Sam Bradford out of commission. The Vikings may have a three-way competition at the position on their hands once Bradford and Bridgewater are ready to go. None of them should be considered weekly QB1 options, however.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater cleared

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 08:32:47 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) has been cleared to practice by doctors Monday, Oct. 16.

Fantasy Tip: He will probably need a couple of weeks before he is considered ready to play. With Sam Bradford (knee) ailing, there's an opportunity. However, Case Keenum is playing the best ball of his career. Bridgewater is watch-list material right now.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater making progress

Tue, 29 Aug 2017 16:50:34 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) has "progressed a lot" in his recovery from a severe knee injury last offseason, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. Zimmer added that Bridgewater must protect himself and show that he is able to make the necessary movements in order to succeed as a quarterback before returning to practice.

Fantasy Tip: The long wait for the return of Theodore Bridgewater continues. In the meantime, Sam Bradford will continue to start as one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league. There will be weeks when Bradford deserves to start on fantasy squads, but as far as the whole seasons is concerned he is a QB2.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) has been working out without a brace on his surgically repaired knee. The extent of Bridgewater's workout regimen and timetable has not been fully disclosed, however, and he could begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater will have to watch Sam Bradford quarterback the Vikings until he is fully recovered. That may be later this season or that may be next season. Either way, Bridgewater's value in the fantasy realm is nil right now.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) participated in some drop back passes during organized team activities Tuesday, May 23. Bridgewater's injured knee was in a brace and as he continues to rehabilitate from surgery.

Fantasy Tip: There's no telling when Bridgewater will be back to full health and be able to take the field again. In the meantime, Sam Bradford will continue to start. And while he is coming off a career year, Bradford's numbers just aren't good enough for him to be considered a QB1.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater's option will be declined

Mon, 01 May 2017 12:47:34 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater's fifth-year option will not be picked up, according to a source. Bridgewater is expected to begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list and will be reevaluated in October.

Fantasy Tip: The Vikings are Sam Bradford's team going forward. Bradford is coming off a career year in which he threw for 3,877 yards and 20 touchdowns while throwing only five picks. The numbers don't jump off the page, but he was extremely efficient. That being said, Bradford just doesn't produce enough to warrant QB1 consideration.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater's option likely passed on

Wed, 26 Apr 2017 06:43:24 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is unlikely to have his fifth-year option exercised by the May 2 deadline, according to sources. The Vikings could still re-sign Bridgewater, but they do not appear willing to guarantee his 2018 salary for north of $11 million for injury when the quarterback is still trying to make it back from a catastrophic knee injury that has derailed other NFL players' careers.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater is probably not someone you can expect to see the first half of the season, if at all in 2017.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) remains without a timetable as he continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and dislocated knee. General manager Rick Spielman did say that Bridgewater had a great first week of offseason activities.

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Bridgewater will be ready for Week 1 of the 2017 season remains to be seen, but he may not even start even if he is ready. That being said, neither Sam Bradford nor Bridgewater should be drafted as QB1.

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 16:44:03 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) has been able to run in a pool and take part on other non-weight bearing activities but there is still no timetable for his return, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater is facing a long recovery because of his serious injury and there are questions about his availability for 2017. Owners in all leagues should avoid him next season. Sam Bradford should continue to be the starting quarterback for the Vikings and can be a No. 2 quarterback.

Vikings | No timetable for Teddy Bridgewater

Thu, 23 Feb 2017 11:23:12 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) still has no timetable for his return, according to general manager Rick Spielman. Spielman added that it would be "unfair" to give Bridgewater an ultimatum after suffering multiple serious injuries. Bridgewater is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a dislocated knee.

Fantasy Tip: At this point it looks like Bridgewater will keep playing second fiddle to Sam Bradford, especially after Bradford's unsung success last year. Stay away from Bridgewater for the time being, and only draft Bradford as a QB2.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is "grinding" and doing all types of drills as part of his rehab from his knee injury, according to WR Charles Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater is likely to miss the entire 2017 season as he continues his recovery. Sam Bradford should continue to start in his place, but he is a low-upside QB2.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater likely to miss 2017 season

Fri, 27 Jan 2017 10:15:04 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is expected to miss the entire 2017 season to continue his comeback from the torn ACL and dislocated knee he suffered during training camp last summer, according to a team source, which suggested the "shortest recovery" time for a player with Bridgewater's injuries is 19 months.

Fantasy Tip: A 19-month recovery would put Bridgewater on the shelf until March of 2018. Sam Bradford will enter this summer as the clear starter in the final season of his two-year deal and should be considered a midrange QB2 in fantasy.

Vikings | No timetable for Teddy Bridgewater

Sun, 15 Jan 2017 09:35:09 -0800

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is doing well in his recovery from a serious knee injury but there are too many factors in the recovery to determine a return date for Bridgewater.

Fantasy Tip: It may be a while until Bridgewater returns to the field because of the severity of the injury, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation during the offseason. He will be a risky option for fantasy owners next season and may not be more than a low-end No. 2 quarterback if he returns early in the season. Sam Bradford could be the starter for the Vikings in 2017 but he is only a No. 2 quarterback.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater's option likely exercised

Tue, 10 Jan 2017 07:38:15 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is likely to have his fifth-year option picked up for the 2018 season. Bridgewater is under contract for $2.18 million for 2017, and the 2018 option could be worth more than $11 million. However, it would give the team a full year to assess him after his major knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Sam Bradford will be their starter heading into next year, and Bridgewater may not even be ready. Bradford has been oft-injured in his career, and it's very possible Bridgewater could return to the starting role at some point. He's not worth drafting for now, but he's someone to keep an eye on in his recovery.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater has surgery set

Tue, 06 Sep 2016 06:08:23 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) has surgery scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 8, to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament and other damage in his left knee, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater is likely to miss a calendar year or more, and the team snatched Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles. Bradford has a lot of physical talent, but it just hasn't shown up on game day. He's a midrange QB2 that could perform well in spurts if he remains protected.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater placed on IR

Wed, 31 Aug 2016 14:36:48 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater will miss the entire 2016 season because of his serious knee injury, and owners will need to monitor the situation to see if he will be ready for the 2017 season. Shaun Hill likely will be the starting quarterback for the Vikings this season but should only be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater has torn ACL

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 18:09:58 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and other structural damage as a result of a non-contact injury in practice Tuesday, Aug. 30, and he also has a dislocated knee. An MRI confirmed the injuries. He did not suffer any nerve or arterial damage, however. He will have surgery within the next few days, but is expected to miss the 2016 season.

Fantasy Tip: With the franchise quarterback going down, drop Stefon Diggs and Laquon Treadwell down on your draft sheets, as the quarterback play will be significantly degraded. Adrian Peterson will have to carry a much bigger load in 2016, and that's good news for his fantasy stock, although you can expect teams to stack the box daring the Vikings to pass with whomever they tab as the signal caller. Shaun Hill is likely to take over due to his knowledge of the offense, since he is the in-house guy, but expect Mark Sanchez, Colin Kaepernick or another veteran free-agent to get a call as well.

Vikings | Significant injury for Teddy Bridgewater

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 14:17:42 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) suffered a significant injury to his left knee in practice Tuesday, Aug. 30, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. The extent of the injury is not yet known, however, as Bridgewater is still undergoing testing.

Fantasy Tip: One can expect Bridgewater to miss a good deal of time this season. This is Shaun Hill's team to quarterback right now, but look for the Vikings to add someone. As far as Hill's fantasy value, he is really only viable in good matchups and/or as a bye-week replacement.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater goes down in practice

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 12:09:23 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (undisclosed) went down on a non-contact play during practice Tuesday, Aug. 30. Practice was subsequently called off as trainers tended to the quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Non-contact injuries are never a good sign; it sounds like it could be something serious for Minnesota's starting thrower. Shaun Hill is a capable backup, but he doesn't have the fantasy appeal that Bridgewater does and would only be worth a bye-week start in a good matchup. Stay tuned for updates on Bridgewater's status.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (shoulder) completed 12 of his 16 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown in a 23-10 preseason win over the San Diego Chargers Sunday, Aug. 28, and he said his throwing shoulder felt great.

Fantasy Tip: Although Bridgewater appears healthy, his ceiling is limited by Minnesota's run-heavy offense. He is a mediocre QB2 option.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (shoulder) is participating in pregame warmups and is expected to play in the preseason game against the San Diego Chargers Sunday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Bridgewater dealt with a sore shoulder earlier in training camp but appears to be fine. He probably will improve on his status from 2015 but should still be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback since Adrian Peterson will continue to see a lot of work.
