Rays | Corey Dickerson could be primary DH

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 07:32:35 -0800

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson is expected to serve as the club's primary designated hitter if 1B James Loney is traded. OFs Brandon Jennings, Kevin Kiermaier and Steven Souza Jr. would play left field, center field and right field respectively, with OF Brandon Guyer serving as the fourth outfielder and a starting option versus left-handed pitching.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson hit .304 with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs in 65 games for the Rockies last season and said he would have no problem serving as a DH. He could fall to the middle rounds of drafts for AL-only and deep mixed leagues because of the move away from Coors Field.

Rays | Tampa Bay sitting five regulars vs. Jays

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:12:48 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OFs Kevin Kiermaier and Steven Souza, 1B James Loney and C J.P. Arencibia are not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: With the Tampa Bay lineup missing a number of key cogs, there isn't a lot to be excited about from the Rays Friday. FantasyScore players could target Evan Longoria ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) because of his .344/.395/.576 slash line against southpaws this season, but otherwise, you're likely betting fading the entire lineup.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier playing center field

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 11:55:23 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier will bat eighth and play center field against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen Saturday, Sept. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is a somewhat risky play in FantasyScore today. He is 4-for-10 with a home run and two RBIs versus Chen in his career but has just collected three hits in his last 20 at-bats.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier riding pine vs. Baltimore

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 12:45:45 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 18. OF Grady Sizemore is starting in left field and batting fourth against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) owns a disappointing .654 OPS in September, and he doesn't move the fantasy needle enough to warrant a roster spot outside of AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. FantasyScore players shouldn't view Sizemore ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) as anything more than a flier Friday, as he owns a .226/.275/.339 slash line against right-handed pitchers this season.

Rays | Richie Shaffer starting in left field

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 14:21:04 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Richie Shaffer is starting in left field and batting eighth against Detroit Tigers SP Kyle Lobstein Wednesday, Sept. 9. OFs Kevin Kiermaier and Grady Sizemore are not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid both Kiermaier ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) and Sizemore ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday, and it is worth noting Sizemore rarely plays against southpaws. Shaffer ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has been much better against righties this season, and at his cap hit, you should be able to do better at FantasyScore Wednesday. He is just 2-for-19 against lefties.

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 21:42:06 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (ankle) went 1-for-5 in his return to the lineup Wednesday, Sept. 2, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: It appears safe to get Kiermaier ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) back into the lineup in FantasyScore now that he made it through the entire game without any lingering effects of his injury.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier returns to lineup

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 12:39:18 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (ankle) is back in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) doesn't really do anything that stands out for his fantasy owners, and a consistent low positioning in the batting order caps his daily value on FantasyScore. He remains a low-end outfield commodity.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier's injury minor

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 14:31:00 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (ankle) is available to play despite not starting Tuesday, Sept. 1, after consulting with a doctor. His ankle injury is considered to be a mild sprain.

Fantasy Tip: There's a good chance that Kiermaier ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is back in the starting lineup tomorrow. However, he's a weak option for daily gamers with a .261 average on the year and only seven home runs. Plus, he typically hits near the bottom of the Tampa lineup.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier sidelined

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 13:22:51 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (ankle) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 1. OF Brandon Guyer is starting in center field and batting eighth against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is really only worth considering on FantasyScore as a deep sleeper when he's hitting leadoff for the Rays, so look to avoid him tonight for your daily lineups.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier leaves game

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 18:18:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (ankle) left the game Monday, Aug. 31, against the Baltimore Orioles due to a mild right ankle sprain.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier ($4000, 8.0% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. Daniel Nava ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) replaced him and could see at-bats if Kiermaier is forced to miss time.
