Rays | Brad Miller, Kevin Kiermaier sitting

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 09:19:34 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Brad Miller and OF Kevin Kiermaier are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Jorge De La Rosa Wednesday, July 20. SS Tim Beckham is starting at shortstop and is hitting seventh, while OF Brandon Guyer is in center field and is batting second.

Fantasy Tip: It's a normal day of rest for Miller and Kiermaier against a lefty, and the Rays are losing the DH again today in an NL park. Beckham isn't really worth your time in DFS despite hitting at Coors Field. He's batting .175 with three homers and eight RBI. Guyer certainly has some sleeper appeal hitting second, but keep in mind he's hit just .132 (5-for-38) with no homers, RBI or steals in July.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier in two-hole

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 13:53:56 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier is starting in center field and hitting second against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Monday, July 18, with SS Brad Miller out against the left-hander. SS Tim Beckham draws in at the 6 and is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier is batting just .221 on the season and is hitless in eight at-bats since coming off the DL to begin the second half. He lacks power but can contribute nicely in runs and stolen bases (six this year), so he deserves to be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues. It might not be a bad idea to keep him reserved until he proves he's fully healthy, though. Beckham is purely a desperation pick in DFS Monday night.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier activated from DL

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 12:09:47 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (hand) is starting in center field and batting eight against Baltimore Orioles SP Yovani Gallardo Friday, July 15.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier had five home runs and six stolen bases through 38 games before sustaining the hand injury, and he's a viable starter in deep mixed and AL-only leagues because of his cross-category production. It isn't out of the question to give him a game or two to prove his health before utilizing him in daily contests, though.

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (hand) had his scheduled minor-league rehab game for the Gulf Coast League Rays postponed Wednesday, July 13, due to rain. He will play Thursday, July 14, instead.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier still appears in line to return to the big club Friday, but fantasy owners will want to see him prove his health in a game or two without any setbacks before trusting him again.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier on track to return Friday

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 14:26:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (hand) went 0-for-2 with a walk for Class A Charlotte Monday, July 11. It was his first game action since breaking his left hand Saturday, May 21. He is still on track to return from the disabled list Friday, July 15.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier is a sneaky fantasy contributor because of his undervalued power-speed combo. He had five home runs and six stolen bases through 38 games before the injury, after all. View Kiermaier as a potential grab in deep mixed setups, and he should be owned and started in all cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues.
