Rays | Kevin Kiermaier leading off

Mon, 04 May 2015 13:51:10 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier is hitting leadoff and starting in center field against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is hitting .286 (10-for-35) with three RBI since April 19 and will continue to see everyday playing time with Desmond Jennings (knee) on the DL. He's much more attractive while hitting atop Tampa's lineup, and he's a sleeper play in daily games tonight against Buchholz.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier back in the lineup

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 14:45:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (illness) is batting eighth and playing center field against the Boston Red Sox Wednesday, April 22. Kiermaier did not start any of the past three games, but he did pinch hit Tuesday, April 21.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier's ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) drop in the order is a hindrance to his fantasy value, and opposing starter Joe Kelly has pitched well to start the season. While his price presents plenty of value, Kiermaier is nothing more than a flier for FantasyScore players Wednesday.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier feeling better

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 13:39:45 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (illness) is feeling "100% better" Tuesday, April 21, but he remains out of the lineup. He is likely to play at some point Tuesday, though.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) should continue to be avoided at FantasyScore. Brandon Guyer ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is serving as the leadoff hitter again Tuesday, and he could be a sneakly sleeper play at FantasyScore this evening against Boston Red Sox lefty starter Wade Miley. Guyer hit .297 (33-for-11) with one of his three homers against southpaws in 2014.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier sitting out

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 09:04:42 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier is not in the starting lineup Sunday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) probably is receiving a day of and should return to the lineup in the near future. Brandon Guyer ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) will be taking his place in the lineup but may not be the best option for owners.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier rips 8th extra base hit

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 17:27:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier hit his league-leading eighth extra-base hit of the season Thursday, April 16, against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has four doubles, one triple and two home runs in 28 at-bats through nine games. In a ridiculously small sample-size, Kiermaier has an ISO of .429, which should start regressing toward his .187 mark of last season. Kiermaier is striking out nearly half as often as he did last season while also walking at a slightly higher rate. If those two trends continue, Kiermaier will be a valuable fantasy asset even after the power surge.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier billed an everyday player

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:29:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier will be an "everyday player" who will receive rest days against "tough left-handed pitchers," according to manager Kevin Cash.

Fantasy Tip: With Kiermaier ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) expected to see ample playing time, there is plenty of upside, especially if he sticks in the leadoff spot. He is worth a speculative add in the majority of leagues, as he stands to return a nice power-speed boost with lots of runs and a plus-average. Currently, he is a steal for FantasyScore players, too.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier sitting out

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 14:47:29 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Daniel Norris Tuesday, April 14. OF Brandon Guyer is starting in left field and leading off for the Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has just two hits in 11 at-bats this year, and he isn't what you'd call a big-name fantasy player in a backup role. However, he did hit .297 with one home run in 111 at-bats against lefties in 2014. Guyer will save you considerable loot at FantasyScore tonight, but his ceiling is low against Norris.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier jumps up to leadoff spot

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 14:31:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier is batting leadoff against the Miami Marlins Friday, April 10. Manager Kevin Cash said it is a role the organization envisions Kiermaier in.

Fantasy Tip: Setting the table for any lineup is a fantasy boost, especially in daily games. So Kiermaier's ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) stock is on the rise. Add his cap-friendly price tag and there is a lot of like about him for FantasyScore contests. He is worth monitoring in the majority of seasonal leagues, too, and should be owned in all AL-only and deep mixed leagues.

Rays | James Loney scratched

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 14:46:22 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B James Loney (side) was scratched from the lineup Tuesday, April 7, because he "tweaked his right side." The move was strictly precautionary. OF Brandon Guyer will serve as the designated hitter, 2B Logan Forsythe is being moved to first base, and OF Kevin Kiermaier will be inserted in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Loney ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) likely wasn't a daily fantasy baseball lineup staple to begin with against left-hander Wei-Yin Chen Tuesday night. Kiermaier, Guyer and Forsythe aren't particularly intriguing, either, at FantasyScore.

Rays | Desmond Jennings healthy, lighter

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 09:46:46 -0800

Tampa Bay Rays OF Desmond Jennings (knee), who is noticeably lighter this spring, said the knee injury that he dealt with last year is better. The team has talked of Jennings splitting time between center and left field when OF Kevin Kiermaier plays center field, and Jennings is on board with that plan.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings, 28, posted his lowest career batting average in 2014 (.244) while hitting 10 home runs and stealing 15 bases. His hype has surely fizzled, but he remains valuable for his combination of speed and power at the right price. He's more of a third or fourth outfielder in standard leagues.
