Athletics | No Billy Burns against Orioles

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 12:23:43 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns in not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 17. OF Sam Fuld is starting in center field and leading off against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Monday.

Fantasy Tip: After an excellent run, Burns ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has hit an extended dry spell. Over his past 38 games, he has a .250 batting average with just 15 runs and eight stolen bases. He could turn it back around, but seasonal owners shouldn't feel the need to wait it out, especially if there are readily available contributors on the waiver wire. Fuld ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is mired in a 2-for-24 stretch over his past 10 games, and should be viewed as a low-priced flier for FanatasyScore contests Monday.

Athletics | Coco Crisp won't lead off

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 17:20:37 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) will likely bat second behind OF Billy Burns when he is activated from the disabled list, manager Bob Melvin said Sunday, Aug. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is hitting just .044 in limited action this year, and you can afford to take a wait-and-see approach with him at FantasyScore.

Athletics | Sam Fuld leading off

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 15:27:34 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Sam Fuld will start in center field and lead off Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Cleveland Indians and RHP Cody Anderson. OF Billy Burns will serve as the designated hitter and hit fourth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Fuld ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is hitting just .222 against right-handers this season, so it is odd to see him at the top of the order. FantasyScore owners can consider him as a cheap play in GPP tournaments, but he should be avoided in cash games.

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 22:49:57 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Burns ($4,500; or 9.0% of cap) is still a very strong FantasyScore value despite the hitless game. Until he goes ice cold, keep riding him at this price level. He hasn't had back-to-back hitless games all season.

Athletics | Billy Burns approaching record

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 19:18:50 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns (hip) returned from a two-game absence and went 2-for-5 with a double in a 5-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals Sunday, June 28, and his 16-game hitting streak is one shy of the franchise's rookie record.

Fantasy Tip: Burns ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) showed no signs of rust, and while you need to make sure his hip issue doesn't flare up over the next few days, it looks safe to resume using Buns as an effective cheaper option at FantasyScore.

Athletics | Billy Burns likely back Sunday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 20:27:05 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns (hip) is expected to play against the Kansas City Royals Sunday, June 28, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Burns ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been solid since earning regular playing time, but with speed being a big part of his value, you may want to avoid him at FantasyScore until he shows his hip injury isn't slowing him down on the basepaths.
