Athletics | Several OAK regulars back in lineup

Sat, 21 May 2016 11:49:09 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns, 1B Yonder Alonso and 2B Chris Coghlan are back in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka Saturday, May 21. In addition, C Matt McBride will bat eighth and start behind the plate, while INF Maxwell Muncy bats ninth and plays the hot corner. C/1B Stephen Vogt is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: After a slow start this season, Alonso is batting .296 over the past four weeks, although he has just one home run and eight RBI over 71 at-bats. At the other end of the spectrum, Coghlan is hitting just .152 over that same stretch and should be avoided in all fantasy formats. McBride and Muncy should be viewed as little more than sources of desperation cap relief.

Athletics | Billy Burns out of lineup

Fri, 20 May 2016 14:51:59 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees left-handed SP CC Sabathia Friday, May 20. OF Khris Davis moves to left field and is hitting cleanup, while C Matt McBride draws a start at designated hitter and is batting eighth. SS Marcus Semien moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Both Davis and Semien have big-time power at their positions, but they aren't doing you any favors in the average department. Semien's daily outlook perks up with the move to the two-hole, and both he and Davis are good picks in DFS tonight against Sabathia, who is making his first start since coming off the DL. McBride should be nothing more than a desperation flier.

Athletics | Josh Reddick sitting out

Sun, 15 May 2016 08:34:41 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore Sunday, May 15. OF Billy Burns will start in right field, while OF Khris Davis will start in left field. 1B Billy Butler will serve as the designated hitter and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Burns and Davis have been playing well recently and should be starting candidates in most leagues. Butler is hitting .200 with three RBI in May and may not be the best option for owners to consider.

Athletics | Coco Crisp out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 14 May 2016 12:03:54 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese Saturday, May 14. OF Billy Burns will lead off and play center field, while C Matt McBride will bat ninth and start behind the plate. C Stephen Vogt will bat fifth and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Burns is batting .316 (6-for-19) over the past week and is worthy of consideration for daily fantasy lineups. McBride is making his A's debut after spending parts of the previous three seasons with the Colorado Rockies and he should be viewed as nothing more than a source of desperation cap relief.

Athletics | Billy Burns out Monday

Mon, 09 May 2016 12:02:40 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 9. OF Coco Crisp is starting in center field and is hitting leadoff against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp recently returned from a heel issue and went 3-for-5 with a double over the weekend in his return. Crisp is only hitting .234 on the season with three home runs and eight RBI. He's more of a low-end outfield consideration in DFS, but the leadoff spot meshes well and a matchup against the inconsistent Buchholz gives him value as a sleeper pick.

Athletics | Billy Burns, Stephen Vogt out

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 11:53:47 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns and C Stephen Vogt are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. OF Coco Crisp is in center field and hitting leadoff, C Josh Phegley is catching and batting eighth, while 1B Billy Butler is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp is barely hitting over .200 in 54 at-bats this year, so he remains a low-end outfield consideration for DFS despite hitting atop the lineup. Phegley hit just .220 with four home runs against righties last year and isn't all that attractive, either. Butler is in there because he sports a .405 average (34-for-84) with two home runs and 15 RBI against Verlander in his career. He's a sneaky under-the-radar value play tonight.

Athletics | Coco Crisp, Billy Butler still out

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 11:51:19 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp and 1B Billy Butler remain out of the starting lineup Wednesday, April 20. OF Billy Burns remains the leadoff man and is in center, while OF Chris Coghlan is at second base and is hitting second against New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi. 2B Jed Lowrie is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp (.158) and Butler (.150) are both trending downward after slow starts to the year. Burns is a younger version of Crisp with plenty of speed, and he's a fine daily pick against Eovaldi tonight. Coghlan hits righties much better in his career and could be worth the flyer as a deep sleeper in the two-hole. Lowrie is coming off a four-hit game. Ride him while he's hot.

Athletics | Billy Burns returns to lineup Saturday

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 10:30:14 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns is back in the starting lineup versus Kansas City Royals SP Chris R. Young Saturday, April 16, leading off and playing center field. OF Coco Crisp is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Burns is 7-for-25 with three stolen bases through his first seven games of the season. He remains a relevant player to own because of his speed, although he has been losing playing time in center field to Crisp recently.

Athletics | Billy Burns, Billy Butler sitting vs. Royals

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 13:31:55 -0700

Oakland Athletics DH Billy Butler and OF Billy Burns are not in the starting lineup Friday, April 15. 2B Chris Coghlan is batting second as the designated hitter against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Butler is 3-for-18 to start the season, and following a poor 2015 showing (.251/.323/.390), the veteran could continue to see fewer at-bats if he struggles. Burns, however, owns a respectable .280 batting average with three runs and three stolen bases, but he is still losing playing time to Coco Crisp. Coghlan is worth a look in daily contests Friday, as he posted a respectable .264/.355/.476 slash line against right-handed pitchers in 2015.

Athletics | Three A's regulars sitting

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 15:19:33 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp, C Stephen Vogt and 1B Yonder Alonso are all out of the lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim left-handed SP Hector Santiago Tuesday, April 12. OF Billy Burns returns to center and is leading off, C Josh Phegley is catching and hitting second and OF Mark Canha is at first base and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Burns' value has taken a slight hit with Crisp healthy and playing often, but he remains relevant in all leagues for his speed. Get him back into your lineups. Phegley and Canha excel against lefties and are worth value plays in daily contests, with Phegley much more attractive.
