Phillies | Cameron Rupp sitting vs. Pirates

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 08:50:37 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp is not in the starting lineup Sunday, July 24. C Carlos Ruiz is starting behind the plate and batting fifth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jameson Taillon Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Rupp is having a serviceable season in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only leagues with 23 runs, 10 home runs, 29 RBI and a .276/.323/.487 slash line. Ruiz is a potential flier in daily contests Sunday, but his seasonal value is extremely limited. He's handing over more and more playing time to Rupp.

Phillies | Cameron Rupp does not have concussion

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 17:24:13 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp (head) did not show signs of sustaining a concussion Saturday, July 23, after being hit in the head by a 91-mph fastball from Pittsburgh Pirates SP Tyler Glasnow in the third inning, according to trainers from both teams.

Fantasy Tip: Consider Rupp day-to-day. Carlos Ruiz could see several starts behind the plate in his absence and he makes a solid value play for daily fantasy games. He is 9-for-18 (.500) with a double and two RBI during the month of July.

Phillies | No Cameron Rupp against Miami

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 12:22:41 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. C Carlos Ruiz is starting behind the plate and batting fifth against Miami Marlins SP Wei-Yin Chen Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Rupp is putting together a respectable fantasy campaign with nine home runs, 26 RBI and a .278/.321/.484 slash line. He's a viable starter in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only leagues. The 37-year-old Ruiz is playing sparingly at this stage of his career and is nothing more than a desperation flier in daily contests Wednesday.

Phillies | Cameron Rupp climbs into cleanup spot

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 12:34:11 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp is batting fourth against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Monday, July 18. Phillies OF Cody Asche is batting sixth Monday.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a significant swap Monday with a daunting matchup against Fernandez, but if Rupp begins to see more regular starts in the cleanup spot, it's a nice boon to his fantasy stock. View the backstop as a viable starter in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only leagues. Asche is providing enough cross-category production to be a low-end starter in deep mixed leagues.

Phillies | Cameron Rupp, Cesar Hernandez playing

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 08:45:03 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp and 2B Cesar Hernandez are back in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom Sunday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Rupp is 5-for-8 over the past week and is 11-for-29 (.379) with two home runs and seven RBI during the month of July, making him an excellent option in all fantasy formats. Hernandez has also enjoyed a productive July, batting .364 through 44 at-bats, although he is hitless in his last 10 at-bats.

Phillies | Ryan Howard draws first post-break start

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 12:55:43 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is in the lineup, batting fifth against New York Mets SP Logan Verrett and playing first base Saturday, July 16, in place of 1B Tommy Joseph. INF Andres Blanco will hit right behind Howard and replace 2B Cesar Hernandez, while C Carlos Ruiz will fill in for C Cameron Rupp behind the plate and follow Blanco in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Slashing a miserable .158/.217/.356 this season, it is hard to defend using Howard in just about any format. Blanco is getting his first start since July 2 and brings virtually nothing to the fantasy table. Ruiz is 3-for-8 in July but only has 11 RBI in part-time duty this year; he has not homered since April 27, so he can be avoided in fantasy as well.
