Mets | Wilmer Flores likely to play 3B |
Fri, 03 Jun 2016 07:25:08 -0700
New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores will likely be the primary starter at third base with 3B David Wright (neck) headed to the disabled list, at least in the short term. The Mets are avoiding moving 2B Neil Walker to the hot corner and calling up 2B Dilson Herrera from Class AAA Las Vegas.
Fantasy Tip: Flores is batting just .167 with one home run and two RBI in 60 at-bats for the Mets this year, but he does have notable pop in his lumber for a player that typically qualifies as a middle infielder. Moving around the infield will only boost his fantasy value in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.

Mets | Dominic Smith not an option |
Mon, 23 May 2016 16:47:42 -0700
New York Mets 1B Dominic Smith, the team's first-round pick in 2013, is not a candidate to be promoted to the major leagues with 1B Lucas Duda (back) injured, according to manager Terry Collins. Smith is only 20 years old and has less than two months of experience at Class AA. 2B Dilson Herrera was also considered for a call-up, but shifting 2B Neil Walker to first base wasn't an option.
Fantasy Tip: Smith should be watched in dynasty and keeper formats for the time being. Smith is hitting .272 (44-for-162) with four home runs and 31 RBI for Class AA Binghamton this year.

Mets | Ruben Tejada could be traded |
Mon, 29 Feb 2016 13:31:04 -0800
New York Mets SS Ruben Tejada will likely serve as a backup middle infielder when camp ends, but there remains a chance he could be traded or released before Opening Day, according to team officials. He's set to make $3 million in 2016 in the final year of his deal. If they cut him more than 15 days before the season opener, they'd only be responsible for one-sixth of his salary. 3B Matt Reynolds or 2B Dilson Herrera would have to impress this spring in order for Tejada to be cut or traded.
Fantasy Tip: Tejada looks to be fine after suffering a broken leg in last year's playoffs. There is hope for more power from Tejada, and he won't hurt in average, either. However, playing time is the issue. If he remains with the Mets, he's a speculative add late in NL-only leagues. He'd have more fantasy value if he were to be traded, most likely.

Mets | Dilson Herrera could start at 2B |
Wed, 04 Nov 2015 12:01:36 -0800
New York Mets 2B Dilson Herrera is a "viable alternative" at second base if 2B Daniel Murphy does not return in 2016. The Mets are expected to make a one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer to Murphy by the deadline Friday, Nov. 6. The Mets are prepared to use a middle-infield combination of SSs Wilmer Flores and Ruben Tejada and Herrera next year. Herrera hit .211 with three home runs and six RBI in 90 at-bats in the majors in 2015.
Fantasy Tip: Herrera hit 11 home runs and had a .331 batting average on the farm this year before calling up, so he surely has intriguing power for a middle infielder, and if he earns the starting job at the keystone if Murphy leaves, he definitely would garner attention in standard fantasy leagues as a middle infield option.

Mets | Daniel Murphy may be elsewhere in 2016 |
Mon, 19 Oct 2015 00:55:59 -0700
New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy will not likely be retained next season by the team despite a late surge during the regular season and a strong postseason. The Mets may install either 2B Dilson Herrera or 2B Wilmer Flores at the position.
Fantasy Tip: New York Post writer Joel Sherman has heard Murphy ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) may be looking at a four-year deal worth $52 million. The club wants to keep the pitching staff together. Beware of Murphy for now, as his draft status is jumping high on some boards because of all his home runs.

Mets | Daniel Murphy out of lineup |
Sat, 03 Oct 2015 15:50:54 -0700
New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy is out of the lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday, Oct. 3, with 2B Dilson Herrera hitting eighth.
Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has a tough draw against Max Scherzer and isn't a good option on FantasyScore.
