Dodgers | Alex Guerrero making presence felt

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 23:29:54 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Alex Guerrero hit a walkoff single Monday, April 14. This came a day after hitting his first major league homer and plating four runs.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero ($1,900, 3.8% of your cap) is filling in for 3B Juan Uribe (hamstring) and could push for more playing time upon Uribe's return. He's a basement second base option worth consideration on FantasyScore while Uribe is sidelined.

Dodgers | Alexander Guerrero averse to minors trip

Sun, 01 Mar 2015 18:09:47 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Alexander Guerrero will see action at second base, third base and the outfield during the spring. He has a clause in his contract that stays he cannot be optioned to the minors without his permission after the first year of his deal. The team will either have to keep him on the roster, trade him or cut him. "The team does not know what they are going to do, but all I can control is working hard and they will get the final word," Guerrero said Sunday, March 1. "I don't want to go down. I'm not going down. I feel like I can get better here at this level and play every day."

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero has Darwin Barney and Justin Turner to leapfrog for playing time, and he will need a good spring to earn his way onto the roster. He obviously has a ton of upside, but his fantasy outlook is very uncertain at this juncture of the spring.

Dodgers | Alexander Guerrero returns to action

Fri, 11 Jul 2014 15:47:16 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Alexander Guerrero (ear) went 3-for-5 with a home run in his return to action with Triple-A Albuquerque Thursday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: The news of Guerrero's return to play, coupled with Hanley Ramirez's shoulder problems, should at least perk up the ears of NL-only managers looking for middle infield help. If Ramirez's injury bleeds into the second half, the Blue could choose to call up Guerrero.

Dodgers | Alexander Guerrero's ear saved

Wed, 25 Jun 2014 08:27:42 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Alexander Guerrero (ear) will not lose his ear and soon will resume his baseball career, according to agent Scott Boras. The piece of ear bitten off was recovered and reattached via surgery. He spent time every day in a hyperbaric chamber after that to increase oxygen intake and healing. Guerrero can start working out soon, but there's no timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: He may be up sometime later in the year, but likely in September with a limited role barring injury. Mixed leaguers can wait a while before stashing him.

Dodgers | No timetable for Alexander Guerrero's return

Fri, 30 May 2014 13:35:45 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Alexander Guerrero (ear) is progressing following surgery to reattach a piece of his ear, and there is hope that his ear will be saved, according to his agent, Scott Boras. "We're still not out of the woods. But we're optimistic. The doctor gave a good report (on Thursday)," Boras said by phone. There is no timetable for Guerrero to return to action.

Fantasy Tip: It's a shame for Guerrero, who was hitting very well right before the incident in which part of his ear was bitten off by former teammate Miguel Olivo. Once he returns to the minors, it might not be long before the Dodgers call him up to be middle infield insurance. When that'll be, though, is anyone's guess.

Dodgers | Alexander Guerrero could miss five weeks

Wed, 21 May 2014 10:17:47 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Alexander Guerrero (ear) could miss five weeks after having plastic surgery on his ear after C Miguel Olivo bit off part of Guerrero's ear during an altercation at Triple-A Albuquerque Tuesday, May 20, according to sources. It's possible one or both players could be subject to further action by the team. Guerrero was hitting .376 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs and had received playing time at other positions than second base.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero's performance on the farm was putting him in line for a promotion soon. He'll have to wait now, and he'd likely be mainly a bench option for the Dodgers unless an injury to the infield occurred.
