Chicago Cubs 2B Javier Baez is hitting .333 with two homers and 10 RBIs in his last 10 games at Triple-A Iowa.
Fantasy Tip: We could see Baez in the next few weeks with the uncertainty the team has at second base. Arismendy Alcantara is there now but could shift to the outfield to make room for Baez. Start stashing Baez in mixed leagues.

Chicago Cubs 2B Arismendy Alcantara will remain with the team for the time being. He had four hits, three RBIs and two runs Thursday, July 10.
Fantasy Tip: Alcantara could carve out a utility role, if he puts a few more big games together before the All-Star break. However, he is likely to be optioned back to Triple-A Iowa, when Darwin Barney returns from his paternity leave. Alcantara's value is tied to the Cubs opening up playing time for him by continuing to trade away their veterans.

Chicago Cubs 2B Arismendy Alcantara was hitless in four at-bats with a pair of strikeouts in his first major league game Wednesday, July 9, against the Cincinnati Reds.
Fantasy Tip: Alcantara is a good looking prospect who is getting a look with Darwin Barney on the paternity list, but now is not the time to add him. He is likely headed back for the minors by the weekend.

Chicago Cubs 2B Arismendy Alcantara is hitting second Wednesday, July 2, against the Cincinnati Reds.
Fantasy Tip: Alcantara is an intriguing long-term prospect, but Darwin Barney will return after his paternity leave. Alcantara is worth monitoring if the Cubs continue to trade veterans; he could be with the team permanently. He boasts a nice power-speed combo to go with excellent contact skills.

Chicago Cubs 2B Arismendy Alcantara has taken a step in his development at Triple-A Iowa recently, and he's now on the major league radar for a call-up. After going 1-for-5 Monday, June 30, Alcantara raised his average to .305 and earned Pacific Coast Player of the Week. He has a nine-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 17 of his last 19 games. He's expected to be up in the majors when rosters expand in September. The Cubs have been exposing Alcantara to the outfield as well as second base and shortstop. The one question mark about Alcantara is his strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.6).
Fantasy Tip: The power is definitely intriguing from Alcantara, especially if he comes up to play the keystone in the bigs. He'll need to make more consistent contact in order to hit for a decent average at the next level. With the Cubbies in last place, we may see Alcantara before September if they pull off a trade. Keep him on your radar in keeper and NL-only leagues.

Chicago Cubs RP Blake Parker has been very impressed with SS Javier Baez and 2B Arismendy Alcantara at Triple-A Iowa. Baez is hitting just .225 with seven home runs and 25 RBIs. "I think he's handling it real well," Parker said of Baez. "Early in the season, I think he had high expectations for himself. He wanted to do a whole lot for the team; he always wants to produce for the team. He's staying within himself now and he's producing for us and doing what he's supposed to be doing."
