Philadelphia Phillies P Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez might be among the players called up to the big club once rosters expand Monday, Sept. 1. Gonzalez moved to Triple-A Lehigh Valley this month and has posted a 1.93 ERA in 10 games with a mid-90s fastball. "Hopefully we'll have a chance to look at him in September," manager Ryne Sandberg said Tuesday, Aug. 26.

The Philadelphia Phillies activated SP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez (shoulder) from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to the minors Wednesday, July 2. The team also placed OF Domonic Brown on the paternity list, called up OF Aaron Altherr from the minors and moved RP Mike Adams (shoulder) to the 60-day disabled list.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez (shoulder) has complained of a "dead arm" just three starts into his rehab assignment with Single-A Clearwater. Gonzalez will be seen by a team doctor. He's allowed seven runs in 9 1/3 innings for Clearwater with nine walks and three strikeouts.

Philadelphia Phillies SP David Buchanan is "the most likely choice" to replace SP Cliff Lee (elbow) in the starting rotation, according to general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. Amaro said SP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez is not yet a candidate to come up from the minors since he's been on the disabled list in the minors since March and is currently rehabbing with Single-A Clearwater. SP Jesse Biddle is also "not ready to pitch in the big leagues," according to Amaro.

Philadelphia Phillies minor league SP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez (arm) allowed three runs on six hits over five innings in his first start for Class A Clearwater Thursday, May 15, with two walks and one strikeout. His fastball hovered between 92 and 94 mph, according to manager Ryne Sandberg. "His control was a little off but it sounds like he's healthy," Sandberg said. "He must be healthy if he's throwing that hard. Now it's just about getting his games in."

Philadelphia Phillies SP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez (arm) worked three innings in an extended spring training game Monday, May 5, and general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Gonzalez's fastball averaged 93 mph and topped out at 95 mph. "We saw that (95 mph) when we were scouting him," Amaro said. "This was the first time we've seen it since we signed him. He was really bringing it. It's a good sign. He's progressing."
Fantasy Tip: While Gonzalez's velocity has improved, it is still unclear if he will be able to help the major league team this season or not. Fantasy owners need not bother with him until there is a more definitive timetable for his return. His rehab is still in its infancy.
