Jets | Gang Green reached out to Steve Smith

Tue, 06 Jun 2017 21:00:52 -0700

The New York Jets recently contacted WR Steve Smith (Ravens) to gauge his interest in coming out of retirement and playing in 2017, according to the NFL Network's Kimberly Jones.

Fantasy Tip: On the same day the Jets announced they will part ways with Eric Decker in part to get younger, it is ironic this news about their pursuit of a 38-year-old would come out. Smith is currently working for the NFL Network and appears to be happy with his decision to walk away from the game for now, so this should be the last we hear of it.

Ravens | Could Steve Smith return?

Wed, 11 Jan 2017 08:28:13 -0800

Recently retired Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith isn't being ruled out for a return in 2017, according to Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti. "I haven't given up hope that (he) is going to come walking in here in September," Bisciotti said. "We'll see about that character. I wouldn't count him out."

Fantasy Tip: Smith contends he's retired. If he were to return, he'd be a WR4 in PPR formats without a lot of upside.

Ravens | Steve Smith finishes with 34 yards

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 13:47:35 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith caught three passes for 34 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Smith is expected to retire this offseason, so he obviously should be avoided in fantasy drafts if he makes his retirement official.

Ravens | Steve Smith will retire after season

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 13:18:26 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith announced Wednesday, Dec. 28, that he will retire at the end of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: This could mean a potential big game for Smith, who undoubtedly wants to go out on a high note. He's an underrated play in daily contests. Mike Wallace, Kamar Aiken and Breshad Perriman will be Baltimore's top three receivers in 2017 as of now, but that could obviously change this offseason.

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith finished caught all seven of his targets for 79 yards and a touchdown in a 31-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Dec. 25.

Ravens | Steve Smith likely to play

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 06:57:17 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (thigh) is expected to play in Week 16's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Smith was a limited participant in practice during the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. However, he has an unfavorable matchup versus the Steelers and should not be viewed as anything more than a low-end WR3 or flex option in the majority of fantasy formats.

Ravens | Steve Smith questionable vs. Steelers

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 12:42:56 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (thigh) has been listed as questionable to suit up in the team's Week 16 game Sunday, Dec. 25, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Normally, Smith is very much in the WR3 conversation, but he might be a bottom-end option as far as this week goes, as his ceiling figures to be lower than usual in this tough matchup with Baltimore's biggest rival. He does get about eight targets a week, though, so he'll still get his chances no matter what.

Ravens | Steve Smith practicing

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 08:56:41 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (thigh) is practicing Friday, Dec. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week, who have been one of the best against opposing receivers the last five weeks. Smith is in consideration for a WR3 or flex play, but he doesn't exhibit the kind of upside you're looking for in those spots.
