Nationals | Stephen Strasburg placed on disabled list |
Sun, 05 Jul 2015 12:40:40 -0700
Updating a previous report, the Washington Nationals have placed SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left oblique. In a corresponding move, SP Taylor Jordan was recalled from Class AAA Syracuse.
Fantasy Tip: Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is landing on the disabled list for the second time this season. He is 5-5 with a 5.16 ERA but had been dominant since returning from his first DL stint, going 2-0 with a 1.15 ERA in three starts while limiting opponents to a .161 average. Jordan is not yet available in FantasyScore but is a possibility to replace Strasburg in the starting rotation, along with Tanner Roark ($4,700, 9.4% of cap).

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 21:26:45 -0700
Washington Nationals SP Taylor Jordan will make the start Wednesday, June 3, against the Toronto Blue Jays, manager Matt Williams confirmed.
Fantasy Tip: Jordan ($3,000; or 6.0% of cap) is a solid FantasyScore bargain for the interleague series finale.

Nationals | Not pulling the plug on Taylor Jordan |
Mon, 28 Apr 2014 13:32:32 -0700
Washington Nationals manager Matt Williams seems like he's not ready to give up on SP Taylor Jordan in the starting rotation, despite a drop in velocity.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Tanner Roark is in more danger of losing his rotation spot when Doug Fister (lat) returns soon. However, if Jordan doesn't improve, Ross Detwiler is ready to take his spot.

Nationals | Doug Fister unlikely for first start |
Thu, 27 Mar 2014 12:27:15 -0700
Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister (lat) left his minor league start Thursday, March 27, with a lat strain. Manager Matt Williams isn't ruling him out for the start of the season, but it seems likely Fister will have to miss his first start.
Fantasy Tip: Lat strains can be tough to come back from quickly, so this almost assuredly puts Fister out for at least several starts. It looks as though both Taylor Jordan and Tanner Roark will crack the rotation to start the year now. Jordan is more intriguing for NL-only managers.

Mon, 24 Mar 2014 14:23:09 -0700
Washington Nationals SP Taylor Jordan gave up just one run and had a shutout into the sixth inning in 5 2/3 frames in his outing Monday, March 24. Jordan had a 3.92 ERA in six spring games (four starts) as he competed with SP Tanner Roark for the final rotation spot. Roark posted a 3.29 ERA this spring. Manager Matt Williams is unsure who will win the job between Jordan and Roark.

Nationals | Tanner Roark helps himself in rotation competition |
Tue, 18 Mar 2014 13:58:55 -0700
Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark gave up just two hits and struck out seven in around seven innings of work against minor leaguers Tuesday, March 18, strengthening his case for the fifth rotation spot. He touched 94 mph on the radar gun and was locating all of his pitches with precision. Roark is now competing with SPs Taylor Jordan and Chris Young for the final spot.
Fantasy Tip: Roark is probably the favorite for the spot after the season he had last year. His impeccable control should cement him the spot. In NL-only leagues, he's a solid end-game bid for cheap.
