Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel needs to have an obsession with football, according to offensive coordinator John DeFilippo. "It's truly a lifestyle to be an NFL quarterback," DeFilippo said. "It's not just a job. It's all-consuming. You need to sleep, eat, do everything fast and just think about football all the time."

Fantasy Tip: Manziel has sparked plenty of controversy after just one season of professional football. While Manziel still isn't guaranteed to start next season, especially with QB Josh McCown recently signed, there are still some positive signs with the rehabilitation program he's going through and a new offensive coordinator in DeFilippo.

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown is expecting to start after signing a three-year, $14 million deal last week that includes $6.25 million in guarantees and $6 million in incentives. McCown went just 1-10 as the starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year. McCown will compete with QBs Johnny Manziel and Connor Shaw this summer.

Fantasy Tip: As of right now, McCown looks like the most likely candidate to start for the Browns, with Manziel in a treatment facility for personal issues. If McCown wins the job in training camp, though he shouldn't be considered anything more than a weak QB2 for fantasy owners.

Fantasy Tip: McCown is obviously not the long-term solution in Cleveland, but he provides a bit of stability. His vow to work with Manziel also means the Browns have some faith in their troubled quarterback. McCown is a backup QB in most fantasy leagues, while Manziel remains an intriguing project with little fantasy value at the moment.

Fantasy Tip: Manziel still has a tough hill to climb in order to win the starting quarterback job for the 2015 season. Impending free-agent Brian Hoyer's status is still unknown, however, while the team may also pursue free-agent QB Josh McCown. Nevertheless, Manziel is not worth consideration as a starter in seasonal or daily leagues.

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel still has the support of Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. "I think it's way too early to give up on Johnny,"Haslam told the team's beat writers during a meeting. Haslam went on to say he applauds Manziel for seeking help and the team will do everything it can to support him for "however long that takes."

Fantasy Tip: Manziel had a nightmarish rookie season and has a long way to go to be rosterable in fantasy leagues. However, his ability to accumulate fantasy points using his legs makes him a player worth monitoring during the offseason as he battles for the starting quarterback job in Cleveland.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent QB Brian Hoyer said he would be willing to battle QB Johnny Manziel for the starting job a second time if he re-signs with the team. "It's something I've already done once," he said. "I'm not afraid of doing it twice."

Fantasy Tip: Unless the personnel dramatically changes in the offseason, it's unlikely any quarterback in Cleveland will provide much fantasy value in 2015.

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel is expected to be in rehab for at least a few weeks, but the amount of time he's there largely depends on what a doctor recommends, according to a source close to Manziel. Manziel is voluntarily entering treatment as a result of his lifestyle off the football field, and he wants to "figure out his value system." Nearly 20 Browns sources are on record that Manziel showed a yearlong pattern of a lack of commitment and preparation and a dedication to nightlife that affected his preparation. "Johnny's his own worst enemy," one source said.

Fantasy Tip: With all the negative attention surrounding Manziel heading into the offseason, he doesn't look too attractive to any fantasy squad in 2015. However, he'll likely battle for the starting QB gig next year, and if he wins it, he could be worth a gamble as a backup quarterback with upside.

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel had teammates come to his defense after an unidentified player called Manziel a "100 percent joke" last week. "It's not true at all that Johnny's teammates think he's a 100 percent joke," CB Joe Haden said. "There's a lot of players on the team that do [love Manziel]."

Fantasy Tip: Looking ahead, Manziel has a lot of work ahead of him going into the offseason and training camp. At best, he should be considered a risky backup quarterback option in 2015.

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel had a big proponent last year in owner Jimmy Haslam, but Haslam now thinks the team needs a quarterback in order to get their team turned in the right direction. "We've got to get a quarterback and got to get it fixed," Haslam said. "What I would say to our fans is, we're going to continue to work really hard to find that quarterback who can make us a championship team." Haslam isn't ruling out Manziel being the starting quarterback in 2015, but he's leaving it open for other options, including QBs Brian Hoyer or Connor Shaw.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Manziel didn't have much time to prove himself at the tail end of last season, it apparently was enough to convince the team that they'll have an open competition at the position in training camp this year. Manziel will likely head into fantasy football draft season as a giant risk as a backup QB.
