Phillies | J.P. Crawford having good July

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 07:55:19 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS J.P. Crawford is hitting .415 with two homers and seven RBI in 41 July at-bats at Class AAA Lehigh Valley.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford should be called up in the near future, but his numbers aren't much to brag about. He has a .268-5-30 line with 10 steals at two levels this year. He's worth having in NL-only leagues for depth, but he doesn't do anything special in any fantasy category.

Phillies | J.P. Crawford up to Class AAA

Fri, 20 May 2016 07:36:25 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS J.P. Crawford was promoted to Class AAA Lehigh Valley Friday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is only hitting .265 with three homers, 13 RBI and five steals at Class AA Reading. What people are raving about are his 30 walks to 21 strikeouts in 136 at-bats. He has shown a keen eye at each level. He doesn't have as high of an offensive ceiling as some prospects, but he's worth stashing in NL-only leagues as he's expected to be in the majors soon.

Phillies | J.P. Crawford close to promotion?

Fri, 13 May 2016 10:19:48 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS J.P. Crawford could be close to being promoted from Class AA Reading to Class AAA Lehigh Valley, according to his current manager, Dusty Wathan. Crawford is showing a mature approach at the plate with more walks (185) than strikeouts (284) in 313 minor league games. His downfall has been on defense, and Crawford has seven errors in 30 starts at shortstop this year. He entered Thursday, May 12, hitting .257 with a .391 on-base percentage, two home runs, six doubles and four steals.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in baseball this year, so he's expected to be in Philadelphia sooner rather than later. He should be stashed now in dynasty and NL-only leagues. Crawford's plus bat speed will help him develop moderate power. It's not out of the question to stash him in deep mixed leagues, either.

Phillies | J.P. Crawford with solid start

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 07:35:10 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS J.P. Crawford is hitting .294 with a homer, four RBI and three steals in his first 51 at-bats at Class AA Reading. He has 11 walks to eight strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: The plate discipline is showing polish beyond his 21 years, and his .419 on-base percentage is turning heads. Crawford has a good chance to be called up sometime after the Super Two deadline. Crawford is a decent stash in NL-only leagues and a watch list player in mixed leagues.

Phillies | J.P. Crawford cut by Philly

Mon, 14 Mar 2016 11:55:53 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS J.P. Crawford was sent to minor league camp Monday, March 14.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford was 3-for-20 with one RBI and three walks in 11 spring training games. He posted a .288/.380/.414 slash line with 42 RBI and 12 stolen bases through 500 plate appearances in the minors last season. He is a potential stash in cavernous mixed and NL-only formats, as a late-season debut isn't out of the question. Still, he will likely be a better real player than fantasy option early in his career.

Mon, 14 Mar 2016 06:05:35 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS J.P. Crawford, OF Nick Williams and OF Roman Quinn were reassigned to minor league camp Monday, March 14.

Fantasy Tip: All three could emerge in 2016 for the rebuilding Phils. They're NL-only options for now, with Crawford having the most potential in 2016.

Phillies | J.P. Crawford rehab update

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 17:26:41 -0800

Philadelphia Phillies minor league SS J.P. Crawford (thumb) is at "100 percent" after suffering a thumb injury while playing in the Arizona Fall League, according to director of player development Joe Jordan.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford has been hitting for a while and is expected to participate in spring training camp with no limitations. He is ticketed to begin the year in the minors but is considered to be one of the top shortstop prospects in baseball, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him promoted at some point during the 2016 season. Owners in NL-only, deep mixed and dynasty leagues should keep tabs on him.

Phillies | J.P. Crawford shut down in AFL

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 17:48:28 -0700

The injury has been immobilized and will not require surgery. He is expected to be completely healthy by the time spring training camp opens.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is considered to be one of the top shortstop prospects in all of baseball. Owners in dynasty leagues should keep tabs on him, although it is unlikely that he will reach the majors next season.

Phillies | J.P. Crawford out 4-6 weeks

Thu, 26 Mar 2015 05:44:06 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS J.P. Crawford (oblique) will miss four to six weeks with a strained left oblique.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is arguably the team's top prospect, but the 20-year-old is a ways away from the majors. He hit .275-8-29 with 10 steals in 236 at-bats at High-A Clearwater last season.
