Wed, 25 May 2016 18:17:31 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B/OF Kris Bryant went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs, a walk and two runs scored against the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant has 10 home runs and 35 RBI through 44 games this season and should continue to be viewed as one of the top third basemen in all fantasy formats.

Cubs | Still no Jason Heyward

Mon, 23 May 2016 13:04:24 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jason Heyward (ribs) remains out of the starting lineup Monday, May 23. 3B Kris Bryant moves to right field and is hitting second, while 2B/OF Javier Baez is at the hot corner and is batting seventh against St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright.

Fantasy Tip: Heyward could wind up missing the entire series to begin the week, so you're better off not risking it and benching in weekly leagues. A DL trip remains possible. Jorge Soler and Javier Baez benefit the most as long as Heyward is out. Both have nice power-speed combinations, although Soler has mostly disappointed this year.

Cubs | Kris Bryant powers up again vs. Giants

Sun, 22 May 2016 02:53:30 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during the Cubs' 5-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants Saturday, May 21. It was Bryant's second home run over the past two games.

Fantasy Tip: It was Bryant's fifth home run of May, and he sits with 29 runs, nine home runs, 31 RBI and a .282/.364/.509 slash line for the season. His strikeout rate is way down from 30.6% during his rookie season to 20.1% this year, too. The sophomore is well on his way to a monster fantasy campaign, and there is no reason to fear Bryant slowing down.

Cubs | Kris Bryant records four RBI

Sat, 21 May 2016 06:01:55 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI against the San Francisco Giants Friday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant has recorded at least one hit in six of his last eight games and has three home runs and eight RBI during that span. He has posted solid numbers so far this season and should be starting in every fantasy league.

Cubs | Javier Baez at 3B again

Tue, 17 May 2016 13:34:47 -0700

Chicago Cubs 2B/OF Javier Baez is starting at third base and is hitting seventh against Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson Tuesday, May 17. 3B Kris Bryant is playing left field, while OF Jorge Soler is relegated to the bench.

Fantasy Tip: With Soler ice cold at the plate, Baez has been a lineup regular recently. Baez is hitting at a .277 clip with two home runs and five RBI in 65 at-bats, and he should be owned in most leagues for his upside in the power and speed departments. Consider him a fine daily commodity tonight, too.

Cubs | Two sitting out for Cubs

Sun, 15 May 2016 11:04:51 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler and C Miguel Montero are not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole Sunday, May 15. 3B Kris Bryant will start in left field, while SS Javier Baez will start at third base and is batting seventh. C David Ross will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Baez and Ross have been playing well over the last week and can both be options in daily fantasy leagues. Ross should also have value in two-catcher leagues.

Cubs | Addison Russell out for Game 2

Wed, 11 May 2016 15:16:13 -0700

Chicago Cubs SS Addison Russell is not in the starting lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the San Diego Padres Wednesday, May 11. SS Javier Baez will start at shortstop, while 3B Kris Bryant will start at third base. OF Jorge Soler will start in left field and is batting fifth against Padres SP Drew Pomeranz.

Fantasy Tip: Soler has only two hits in his 15 at-bats this season, so owners should be able to find a better player for their lineups. Baez is hitting .333 with one home run and four RBI this month and should be a decent option for owners in daily fantasy leagues. Bryant is a must-start option in all leagues.

Cubs | Kris Bryant committed to improving swing

Wed, 11 May 2016 13:36:59 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B/OF Kris Bryant has continued to focus on flattening his swing to lower the launch angle of the ball off his bat. His goal is to keep his trajectory between 25 and 30 degrees, and his five home runs this season have an average launch angle of 29.43 degrees.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners have to be pleased with Bryant's start, and his focus on improving his craft is encouraging for his ability to remain a high-end batter going forward. A lower launch angle projects to help him hit more line-drive home runs and be less susceptible to the high winds common to Wrigley Field. Through his first 30 games of the season, Bryant has 24 runs, five bombs, 22 RBI and a .295/.377/.500 slash line, and there are no signs of the budding slugger slowing down.

Cubs | Javier Baez at 3B again

Tue, 10 May 2016 13:45:57 -0700

Chicago Cubs 2B/OF Javier Baez is starting at third base and is hitting sixth against San Diego Padres SP Cesar Vargas Tuesday, May 10. OF Kris Bryant is starting in left field and hitting third, while OF Jorge Soler remains on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: With Soler failing to take advantage of an opportunity in left field with Kyle Schwarber (knee) out for the year, it's looking like this setup will become more common moving forward, with Tommy La Stella occasionally seeing starts, too. Baez should be owned in most seasonal leagues because of his high upside power-speed combination, and he's a great pick in daily leagues tonight, too.

Cubs | Kris Bryant owns righties at Wrigley

Thu, 05 May 2016 14:33:58 -0700

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant has a career .326/.426/.648 slash line against right-handed pitchers at Wrigley Field. He faces Washington Nationals right-handed SP Joe Ross Thursday, May 5.

Fantasy Tip: You're not taking Bryant out of your lineup in seasonal leagues, but daily players will want to consider spending up for the budding superstar at home when the Cubs face a right-handed hurler. Bryant is also currently riding a 10-game hitting streak with 11 runs, two bombs, 10 RBI and a 1.187 OPS. He is a ripe daily option Thursday.
