Wed, 23 Nov 2016 09:44:06 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) has been designated to return from the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Sims has 21 days to practice and play by Week 14. With Doug Martin back to his fragile ways, Sims is a good stash option.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims due back this season

Tue, 08 Nov 2016 08:15:08 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) is expected to return at some point this season, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: It probably won't be in time to make big impact in fantasy, but he could be back for a deep fantasy playoff team. Keep him on your watch lists, but he's not worth stashing at this point.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims placed on IR

Mon, 10 Oct 2016 12:14:25 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Oct. 10. RB Russell Hansbrough was correspondingly promoted from the practice squad.

Fantasy Tip: The Buccaneers are now without their top two running backs, at least for the time being. Jacquizz Rodgers' fantasy value takes a definitive increase with Sims out. Rodgers will likely assume Sims' pass-catching role and is another hot waiver wire pickup this week.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims sitting out Week 6

Mon, 10 Oct 2016 11:59:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) has been ruled out for Week 6 versus the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Jacquizz Rodgers will get the start and head coach Dirk Koetter is said to be "extremely confident" in his ability to carry the load. Peyton Barber may receive some token carries as well in what should be his NFL debut, but look for a pass-heavy game plan this evening. Look for Rodgers to be used heavily in the passing game, making him a decent desperation play in PPR formats.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims listed as doubtful

Sat, 08 Oct 2016 12:36:56 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) is listed as doubtful for the team's Week 5 game.

Fantasy Tip: Sims likely will sit out the game with Jacquizz Rodgers and Peyton Barber seeing time at running back. Rodgers should receive most of the work at running back and could also be used as a receiver out of the backfield. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims misses another practice

Sat, 08 Oct 2016 09:59:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) did not practice Saturday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Sims hasn't practiced all week and is expected to miss Monday night's game against the Carolina Panthers, just like Doug Martin. As a result, Jacquizz Rodgers could be in line to start and handle 10 to 15, while rookie Peyton Barber could also see his first snaps as a pro. Rodgers is a tough sell to start in fantasy, but owners should be able to bank on three to five catches to give him a decent floor this week.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims a game-time decision

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 20:17:47 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) will be a game-time decision against the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, head coach Dirk Koetter said Friday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: The timing couldn't be worse with Tampa Bay playing on Monday night. Sims' owners have no choice but to go with another option.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims still sidelined

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 19:06:48 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) did not practice Friday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: With Sims playing Monday night in Week 5, you need to have a backup plan in place in case his status isn't clarified before Sunday's slate kicks off.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims doesn't practice

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 20:37:25 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: If Sims can't go Monday night, Jacquizz Rodgers would be the next man up, but he would be a fringe flex option against Carolina.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims has knee issue

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 08:55:22 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) took a hit on his right knee in Week 4, but he finished the game. He is out of practice Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds more like a maintenance day. Sims is likely to have his role diminish in Week 5 against a stout Carolina Panthers defense. He's a risky flex play.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims out of practice

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 08:18:41 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (undisclosed) was out of practice Tuesday, Oct. 4, for an undisclosed reason.

Fantasy Tip: Sims is likely to have his role diminish in Week 5 against a stout Carolina Panthers defense. He's a risky flex play.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims' role could diminish

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 06:49:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims' role could diminish in Week 5 after he has struggled in a starting role the following two weeks. Head coach Dirk Koetter said the team is considering making changes in personnel to fit into the roles of their strengths.

Fantasy Tip: Sims could lose carries to Jacquizz Rodgers this week, and they have a tough matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Sims is a risky flex option. Long term, Sims could still be an RB3 when Doug Martin (groin) returns, and Sims can shift into the third-down back in passing situations.

Buccaneers | Denver contains Charles Sims

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 22:37:54 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims rushed 15 times for just 28 yards in the Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos, and he had two catches for seven yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sims laid a huge egg against what had been a pretty leaky Denver rush defense. Sims remains a decent low-end RB2 in most fantasy leagues until Doug Martin is healthy enough to return from injury.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims piles up the yardage

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 21:46:44 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims rushed 13 times for 55 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, and he added six grabs for 69 yards on eight targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sims filled in admirably for the injured Doug Martin (hamstring), and is a solid RB2 heading into Week 4. Sims has great potential especially in PPR formats.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims set for big workload?

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 20:01:56 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers said he only expects to play when RB Charles Sims needs a breather.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Sims will see plenty of touches against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, and he is a RB2 candidate, especially in PPR formats.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims sees 12 touches

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 18:51:46 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Charles Sims carried nine times for 24 yards in the Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals, and he added three catches for four yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sims saw an increased workload with Doug Martin exiting early due to a tweaked hamstring. If Martin is forced to miss additional time Sims would be the back to target in Tampa for fantasy consideration.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims to miss preseason game

Thu, 11 Aug 2016 12:58:20 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) will not play in the preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, Aug. 11. Sims is being held out as a precaution.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Sims is dealing with a minor injury and likely will return to the field in the near future. He should be the No. 2 running back this season and should have a role in the passing game. Sims probably can be a No. 3 running back in point-per-reception leagues and a No. 4 back in standard leagues.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims out of practice

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 05:32:19 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) is out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, after injuring his ankle earlier in the week.

Fantasy Tip: Sims' ailment isn't believed to be serious. Behind Doug Martin, Sims is an RB4 in standard leagues, a suspect No. 3 in PPR, and a must-handcuff in both given Martin's elevated risk factor.

Buccaneers | More touches for Charles Sims?

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 23:05:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is expected to see more carries in 2016, in the opinion of PewterReport.com's Mark Cook.

Fantasy Tip: Doug Martin just re-upped on a huge deal, and it's unlikely he's going to lose too much playing time. He's a low-end RB1 in fantasy, and Sims is a nice handcuff RB4.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims can be three-down back

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 08:07:32 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims can be a three-down back if needed, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: Doug Martin is a free agent, and Sims could be a backup plan if the team is unable to re-sign him. Sims would be a high-end RB3 if Martin departs.

Buccaneers | Interesting year for Charles Sims

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 16:40:03 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims finished with more than 1,000 total yards and four receiving touchdowns in 2015, but he did not score on the ground.

Fantasy Tip: Doug Martin was obviously the go-to man for the Buccaneers on the ground, but Sims was called on frequently in the passing game. He was the only running back to finish in the top-20 in PPR scoring without a rushing touchdown. As of now, he should be viewed as a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 in PPR formats next season.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims totals 117 yards, score

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 18:43:46 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims rushed four times for 45 yards in the Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears with three receptions for a team-best 72 yards and a touchdown on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sims can be a productive back when he gets the touches, but Martin re-emerged as a top-tier fantasy option this season to stunt Sims' growth. Still, he could be a big-time fantasy option in 2016.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims totals 77 yards

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 21:23:11 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims rushed seven times for 56 yards in the Week 13 game against the Atlanta Falcons, and he added two receptions for 21 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sims has fallen well behind Doug Martin on the depth chart, but he still gets plenty of touches and has value as a flex option in most fantasy formats.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims totals 16 touches

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 18:07:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims ran 12 times for 51 yards in the Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and he added four receptions for a team-high 85 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Sims ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) saw plenty of touches, but it was Doug Martin who stole the show with 27 total touches, 158 total yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns. As long as Martin remains healthy then Sims is second fiddle and has minimal appeal in FantasyScore.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims has seven touches

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 21:53:16 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims carried five times for 12 yards in the Week 1 game against the Tennessee Titans, and he added two grabs for 23 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Sims ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) needs to do more with his opportunities if he is going to eat into Doug Martin's ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) touches. Avoid Sims in FantasyScore for now.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims adds muscle

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 12:19:56 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims has added some muscle during the offseason, which could help him be a better runner between the tackles.

Fantasy Tip: Sims could compete for the starting running back job during training camp but should still have a solid role if he loses the competition. Owners could consider Sims as a handcuff to Doug Martin or an option in late rounds to add depth at the running back position.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims could start for TB

Tue, 26 May 2015 14:31:32 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims has a solid chance of beating out RB Doug Martin for Tampa Bay's starting running back gig, according to Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has mostly been a disappointment since his outstanding rookie season. Sims hasn't been given a lot of opportunities to show what he's capable of as he only played in eight games of his rookie season last year. It could end up being more of a running back by committee (Bobby Rainey and Mike James are also available), but Martin needs to step up his game if he doesn't want Sims to supplant him.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims excited for new season

Tue, 26 May 2015 14:25:54 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is anxious to capitalize on his short-lived 2014 campaign when he suffered a torn ankle tendon that caused him to miss the first eight games of the season. "I was just getting in the groove and then the season was over," Sims said. "I'm looking forward to next year and it will be interesting to see what's going to happen."

Fantasy Tip: Sims is expected to play a big role for the Bucs in 2015, but he'll still have Doug Martin, Bobby Rainey and Mike James to compete with for playing time. If it wasn't such a crowded backfield, Sims could be a valuable asset to fantasy squads, and that could still end up being the case. For now, however, he's in RB3 territory.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims will be featured

Sat, 23 May 2015 15:17:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is viewed very highly by his coaches, according to Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com. Sims is expected to be the featured back in the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Sims is likely to feature very prominently in the passing game. Sims averaged 10.0 yards per reception on 19 catches last season, showing promise in an area of the game in which Doug Martin struggles mightily. Sims should be available in the late rounds of 2015 fantasy drafts, and he has the ability to wind up as an RB2.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims likely to be featured

Mon, 04 May 2015 07:47:33 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is likely to be featured in the offense this season.

Fantasy Tip: Pewter Report speculates the team will trade Doug Martin before the season, which means Sims will have to compete with Bobby Rainey for touches. Sims would be a solid RB2 if he's indeed the featured back. Martin's fantasy luster plummets with these intentions known, but his value will be solid if he can at least share the load somewhere else.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims a full participant

Fri, 28 Nov 2014 16:51:49 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) practiced fully Friday, Nov. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Sims should be able to go this weekend but will be splitting time with Doug Martin and Bobby Rainey. He is cheaply priced at $4,100 on FantasyScore but there are too many mouths to feed in that backfield.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims limited during practice

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 15:17:01 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Sims probably will be part of a committee at running back if he is active for Week 13. Sims only costs $4,100 on FantasyScore but will be facing a tough Cincinnati Bengals run defense.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims limited

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 15:28:19 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Sims shared carries with Doug Martin in Week 12, so it is not known how many carries he will receive if he is able to play this week. Sims only costs $4,100 on FantasyScore and could be a flex option but will be facing a tough Cincinnati Bengals rush defense.

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 14:37:46 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Lavonte David (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 21, and is questionable. RB Charles Sims (ankle) and CB Alterraun Verner (hamstring) both were limited in practice and are questionable.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin, Charles Sims limited

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 14:48:42 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Doug Martin (ankle) and Charles Sims (ankle) were both limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($3,000) may return in Week 12 to face the Chicago Bears, but he hasn't done much all season. Sims ($4,700), on the other hand, has effectively replaced Bobby Rainey as the lead back. The Bears are allowing just over 16 fantasy points per game to rushers this year. Consider Sims more of a flex play this week at FantasyScore, and his value will suffer if Martin returns.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims emerges as lead back

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 07:17:33 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims emerged with a team-high 13 carries and 36 yards rushing in Week 11. RB Bobby Rainey started the game, but Sims took over the bulk of the work after the first series. Sims caught three passes and ran in short-yardage situations as well.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Sims to be the guy for the remaining six games as the team looks toward the future. He could be a cheap flex option the rest of the way, and Rainey's run of FantasyScore relevance is likely over for now.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims may see more time

Sun, 16 Nov 2014 07:28:04 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is expected to receive more playing time in Week 11 than he did in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Sims rushed for 23 yards on eight carries last week and caught two passes for 17 yards. Sims could receive a majority of the carries during the game since Doug Martin is not playing. Sims costs $4,500 on FantasyScore and could be flex option for owners.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims' role to gradually increase

Wed, 12 Nov 2014 07:02:34 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims' role is expected to gradually increase as long as fumbles don't be come an issue. RB Bobby Rainey was better at catching passes in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Sims ($4,500; 9.0% of your cap) needs to show us more before we use him on FantasyScore. Rainey is cheaper at $4,400, and we see no reason he shouldn't continue to be their leading rusher in the short term.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims will play

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 07:07:22 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) will play Sunday, Nov. 9, in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Bobby Rainey ($4,900; 9.8% of your cap) is the Bucs RB you want to play on FantasyScore today. He makes a solid flex option.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims limited Thursday

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 14:34:34 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Sims probably won't see a ton of playing time coming off his long injury-induced hiatus. If Doug Martin is unable to play, Bobby Rainey ($4,900, 9.8%) will be the Bucs running back you want to plug into FantasyScore lineups.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin could take backseat

Tue, 04 Nov 2014 07:35:56 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin could be relegated to a backup role behind a two-man committee in RBs Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims.

Fantasy Tip: Rainey ($4,900; 9.8% of your cap) is a solid RB2 option on FantasyScore this week against the Atlanta Falcons. Charles Sims ($4,000; 8.0%) has received a lot of hype the last couple of weeks without taking a snap. He's in the flex option mix, but Rainey has performed well enough to warrant more opportunities.

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 08:35:52 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is inactive Sunday, Nov. 2, for Week 9.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims activated

Sat, 01 Nov 2014 15:13:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) was activated from the Active/Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Sims is a risky play in any fantasy format in his first NFL action in Week 9. Bobby Rainey ($3,900; 7.8% of your cap) is expected to start and makes for a cheap flex option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Sims would have to be added to the active roster before he is able to play. Bobby Rainey could receive most of the work at running back if Sims and Doug Martin are not able to play. Rainey costs $3,900 on FantasyScore and could be a flex option.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims to enter fold

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 07:08:16 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims could have 10 or more touches in Week 9, in the opinion of beat writer Greg Auman.

Fantasy Tip: Bobby Rainey and Doug Martin's (ankle) fantasy stock is starting to fade. Both are priced at $3,900 on FantasyScore this week. With Sims entering the fold, it's hard to say any of them are worth the start against a putrid Cleveland Browns run defense because they cancel each other out.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin considered expendable

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 19:22:46 -0700

Teams have approached the team about Martin, who could be had at the right price. He is believed to be expendable with RB Charles Sims eligible to come off the injured-reserve designated-to-return list.
