Buccaneers | Tampa Bay to use RBBC without Doug Martin

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 10:43:08 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers will most likely be the first- and second- down back, while Charles Sims will handle most of the third-down work and Peyton Barber will be the goal-line back while Doug Martin serves his season-opening three-game suspension, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Fantasy Tip: No real surprises here, although Laine points out Barber has improved quite a bit and may have been the most explosive back in camp behind Martin in the preseason. As things stand right now, expect Martin to handle the early-down and goal-line work upon his return, while Sims keeps his role and Rodgers becomes more of a handcuff.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims to be more involved?

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 20:43:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims showed good burst in practice Thursday, June 1, according to beat writer Jenna Laine, and Laine believes Sims could be used from the slot this season and will be more involved in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: At the very least, Sims should see some action on third down as a receiver out of the backfield. His value will only go up if he also lines up as a receiver. Grab him in the later rounds of PPR formats and see how his role develops.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims taking part in OTAs

Tue, 23 May 2017 12:07:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (shoulder) practiced during organized team activities Tuesday, May 23, after being cleared to practice Monday, May 22. Sims underwent shoulder surgery sometime this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Doug Martin will miss the first three games of the season due to a suspension, so Sims will primarily be fighting for playing time with Jacquizz Rodgers and Jeremy McNichols. Rodgers and Sims will likely see most of the touches in those three games, but a committee is inevitable. Martin has the most potential as far as the whole season is concerned as long as he's healthy. While Sims and Rodgers have more appeal in PPR leagues, they're simply flex options.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims placed on IR

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 11:21:46 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 28. The team also promoted practice squad FB Austin Johnson to their active roster.

Fantasy Tip: Jacquizz Rodgers probably will receive most of the work in Week 17 if Doug Martin is inactive again. Owners in most leagues should consider Rodgers as a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option. Sims probably will be a backup or a third-down back in 2017 and can be a late-round pick in deeper leagues.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin, Charles Sims top RB chart

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 16:28:50 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Doug Martin and Charles Sims are the two top active running backs for the Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys with RB Jacquizz Rodgers a healthy scratch. RB Peyton Barber is also active.

Fantasy Tip: It's interesting, as Martin was not going much recently and it sounded like Rodgers would see a bigger piece of the offensive pie. Now, a week later, he is a healthy scratch. Martin and Sims could each split the carries since both have been injury prone, making for a tough fantasy situation.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims expected back this week

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 15:27:29 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) is expected to be activated from the Reserve/Injured list before the team's Week 14 game against the New Orleans Saints, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: Sims probably will see limited snaps in the first game or two but may have a chance to reclaim his old job behind Doug Martin. Owners may want to avoid Sims in Week 14, but he could be a flex option in the last few weeks depending on his role.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims due back this season

Tue, 08 Nov 2016 08:15:08 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) is expected to return at some point this season, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: It probably won't be in time to make big impact in fantasy, but he could be back for a deep fantasy playoff team. Keep him on your watch lists, but he's not worth stashing at this point.
