Saints | Josh Hill terms

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 08:32:19 -0700

Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints TE Josh Hill received a three-year, $7.1 million deal with $3.25 million guaranteed, according to a source. His deal can increase to $8.15 million with incentives.

Fantasy Tip: Hill failed to make an impact last season with a 16-120-2 year, and the team signed Coby Fleener. Hill probably isn't worth drafting, but keep an eye on him in camp.

Saints | Josh Hill staying with Saints

Fri, 25 Mar 2016 13:15:21 -0700

New Orleans Saints restricted free-agent TE Josh Hill will remain with the Saints after they matched the offer sheet he signed with the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Hill likely will be the No. 2 tight end behind Coby Fleener in 2016 and should not be an option for fantasy owners.

Bears | Chicago signs Josh Hill to offer sheet

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 14:09:56 -0700

New Orleans Saints restricted free-agent TE Josh Hill signed an undisclosed offer sheet from the Chicago Bears, Tuesday, March 22, according to a source. The Saints have five days to match the Bears' offer.

Fantasy Tip: This would be a nice move for the Bears if they can get it done. Hill would add needed depth at tight end behind Zach Miller. If the offer sheet isn't matched, Miller's fantasy value would take a little bit of a hit, but he would still have TE1 potential with Martellus Bennett now out of town.

Bears | Josh Hill visits Bears

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 14:03:36 -0700

New Orleans Saints restricted free-agent TE Josh Hill visited the Chicago Bears Monday, March 21, according to a source. Hill already visited the New York Jets last week.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Hill were signed by Chicago, Zach Miller would likely still be their primary tight end. Hill would put a little bit of a dent into Miller's fantasy value, though. Wherever Hill lands, he probably won't be worth starter consideration.

Saints | Josh Hill still thought of highly

Tue, 16 Feb 2016 21:08:25 -0800

New Orleans Saints TE Josh Hill is still thought of very highly by team management despite the fact TE Benjamin Watson was brought in and stepped up to fill the void of TE Jimmy Graham, not Hill, in 2015. "Josh Hill is a guy that's been in our building a while now," general manager Mickey Loomis said Tuesday, Feb. 16. "He's got talent, he's been for a couple years, he's kind of been in the background behind (Graham) when he was here and (Benjamin) last year as well."

Fantasy Tip: Hill might eventually get his shot, although the GM said the same is also high on Jack Tabb, and could look outside of the organization for additional help at the position either via the draft or free agency. For now, Hill is only worth investigating for use in the deepest of fantasy formats heading into 2016.

Saints | Josh Hill finds the end zone

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 22:08:48 -0700

New Orleans Saints TE Josh Hill had two receptions for 11 yards and a touchdown in the Week 4 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Fellow TE Benjamin Watson had three grabs for 30 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hill ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is still not worth using in FantasyScore despite the touchdown. The veteran Watson ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is slightly better for fantasy players, but his ceiling is also limited.

Saints | Josh Hill still out

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 12:18:07 -0700

New Orleans Saints TE Josh Hill (undisclosed) was still not on the practice field Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: This is the time of year where coaching staffs try to take it easy with starters who are ailing. There's no reason so far to believe Hill won't be ready for the season opener. He and Benjamin Watson should split reps at tight end, so neither is worth taking as your starting fantasy tight end.

Saints | Josh Hill sitting out Monday

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 10:29:54 -0700

New Orleans Saints TE Josh Hill (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 3, but was present at practice.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should look for an update on his status in the near future. Hill is one of the candidates to win the starting tight end job during camp. He could be a late-round option in drafts this season as a No. 2 tight end if he wins the job.

Saints | Benjamin Watson to start?

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 15:15:46 -0700

New Orleans Saints TE Benjamin Watson is slated to start at tight end over TE Josh Hill, according to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Watson will still split time with Hill, but he could begin the season as starter primarily because of his experience and blocking abilities. He's also not a bad pass-catcher. However, because this could easily turn into a committee, neither should be considered starting fantasy tight ends.

Saints | New Orleans TE committee likely

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 05:47:58 -0700

New Orleans Saints TE Josh Hill and TE Benjamin Watson will likely be used in a committee to supplement the team's offense after TE Jimmy Graham was traded.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has been pegged as a breakout candidate by some, but this limits that outlook a bit. Hill and Watson are TE2 options in fantasy.

Saints | Josh Hill projected to start for Saints

Wed, 20 May 2015 12:21:24 -0700

New Orleans Saints TE Josh Hill is slated as the starting tight end this season with TE Jimmy Graham now in Seattle. TE Benjamin Watson could give Hill a run for his money, however.

Fantasy Tip: Hill only caught 14 passes in 2014, but five of those were for touchdowns. He should be a mainstay in the Saints' red zone offense even if he doesn't produce a ton between the 20s. Even if he does start, he's still in TE2 territory.

Saints | Josh Hill expected to have bigger role

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 07:52:10 -0700

New Orleans Saints TE Josh Hill is expected to have a bigger role in the offense in 2015. Head coach Sean Payton has mentioned him quite a bit since they traded TE Jimmy Graham to the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: For a relative unknown, Hill's numbers were promising. He caught 14 balls for 176 yards and five touchdowns in just 20 targets in 2014. View Hill as a TE2 with upside.

Saints | Jimmy Graham to be game-time decision

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 13:16:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (shoulder) said he won't know until just before kickoff Sunday, Oct. 19, if he'll play in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions. "I think (coach) Sean (Payton) might try to see how I'm doing on Sunday and maybe work me before the game to see where I'm at," Graham, who was limited and listed as questionable for Sunday, said. "As of right now I don't know." Head coach Sean Payton would not discuss whether Graham could be limited if he plays Sunday. TEs Benjamin Watson and Josh Hill will likely see an increase in snaps if Graham doesn't play.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Graham plays, he's likely to be less than 100 percent, which would make paying $7,900 (15.8% of cap) a pretty big risk at FantasyScore. Hill is the better fantasy bet if Graham doesn't play, and he's very cheap if you're going that route at tight end.
