Patriots | Tim Wright catches nearly everything

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 07:39:51 -0800

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright has 23 catches on 26 targets this season. "Every time we throw to him it's a touchdown - we'll try to find him more down there," QB Tom Brady said after Wright's two-touchdown performance in Week 12. "He does a great job in the coverage and finds the open spots."

Fantasy Tip: Wright ($5,200; 10.4% of your cap) is very much a boom-or-bust selection on FantasyScore.

Patriots | Tim Wright sees extensive action

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 15:47:01 -0800

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright played a season-high 60 snaps in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions, which shattered his previous best of 21 snaps, which he hit twice. He finished with five receptions for 36 yards and two touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Anyone who took a chance on Wright in FantasyScore were tremendously pleased by his amazing output, while those who spent on Rob Gronkowski were less than thrilled with the distribution.

Patriots | Tim Wright sees minute time

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 08:22:15 -0700

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright played just 16 of 74 offensive snaps in Week 6 Sunday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Wright was expected to have a bigger role after a good Week 5 game. Rob Gronkowski has become a bigger part of the offense, but Wright will still be worth consideration on FantasyScore in good matchups.

Patriots | Want to grow Tim Wright's role

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 19:05:11 -0700

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright took on a bigger role in the pass game in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and the team wants to continue to increase Wright's role.

Fantasy Tip: Wright will set you back just $3400 (or 6.8 percent of the cap) in FantasyScore leagues. At this point, you are getting what you are paying for, but if Rob Gronkowski suffers any type of injury setback, or Wright does in fact see a few more targets, Wright would be worth using in most fantasy formats.

Patriots | Tim Wright played limited snaps

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 15:19:51 -0700

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright, who had five catches for 85 yards and a touchdown in Week 5, played just 19 of 84 offensive snaps against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday night.

Fantasy Tip: Wright clearly made the most of his limited opportunities against Cincy. Take that into account if you're looking for an under-the-radar tight end option for Week 6. It's unlikely that Wright can match those numbers if he continues to have limited snaps.

Patriots | Tim Wright could see more time

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 16:46:17 -0700

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright could see extended playing time in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Wright could see another target or two, as the Patriots try to force the Kansas City linebackers into more coverage and less rush defense, but it is not enough to make Wright fantasy relevant at this time.

Patriots | Tim Wright debuts

Fri, 29 Aug 2014 07:58:26 -0700

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright caught four passes for 43 yards in roughly one half of action in the final preseason game Thursday, Aug. 28. It was his first game with his new team.

Fantasy Tip: Wright is an intriguing sleeper if he can learn the offense quickly. He's not worth drafting right now, but he could rise up the fringe of waiver possibilities as the season progresses.

Patriots | Tim Wright to play

Thu, 28 Aug 2014 13:48:00 -0700

New England Patriots TE Timothy Wright is expected to play Thursday, Aug. 28, against the New York Giants after recently being acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Wright is expected to fill the role Aaron Hernandez played and is worth a flier in deeper leagues. As Rob Gronkowski's backup, Wright could gain even more value considering Gronkowski's injury history.

Patriots | Like Timothy Wright

Wed, 27 Aug 2014 19:19:25 -0700

The New England Patriots really like TE Timothy Wright, acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for OL Logan Mankins. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport even considers him as the team's "new" Aaron Hernandez, or complement to TE Rob Gronkowski.

Patriots | No setbacks for Rob Gronkowski

Tue, 26 Aug 2014 15:30:48 -0700

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (knee) has not encountered any setbacks from the end of last week, and the acquisition of TE Timothy Wright is not a sign that the team is concerned about Gronkowski's health. The Patriots have wanted to remain cautious with Gronkowski's workload this preseason. Wright is a "move" tight end, similar to the role free-agent TE Aaron Hernandez used to play with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Gronkowski remains a fine risk as a TE1, as long as he stays healthy. As Wesseling mentions, Wright won't ever take the place of Gronkowski in blocking situations, but he could be useful as a TE2, especially if Gronk is limited at all early in the season.

Buccaneers | Timothy Wright struggling

Sun, 17 Aug 2014 19:23:46 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Timothy Wright has been struggling with his catching and blocking during practice, according to head coach Lovie Smith. "He's dropped some balls. If you watched practice, he's dropped balls. But he's a big part of what we want to do with the two-receiver, two-tight-end set. Tim hasn't blocked as well inside. Once you're that H-back and you don't block, now they say you're just another receiver and teams start going nickel. If they do that at least you have to be a good pass catcher. Tim's a good player. He just hasn't played as well as he needs to lately," Smith said. Wright may have to compete with TE Luke Stocker for a roster spot if he does not improve his play.

Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins may be behind

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 13:23:56 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins may not receive much playing time in the short term, although he's likely to be the team's long-term answer at the position. He will not take part in the team's offseason program, which could put him behind in the competition, and TEs Brandon Myers, Timothy Wright and Luke Stocker all have more experience.

Fantasy Tip: Wright made nice strides last season in this offense, but remember, Lovie Smith is now head coach, and tight ends have never been a big part of his offenses. If anything, the tight ends on roster will give Josh McCown a nice red zone option. Seferian-Jenkins is an intriguing player, but don't overspend on him as your TE2.

Buccaneers | Timothy Wright could have big role

Fri, 13 Jun 2014 10:42:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Timothy Wright could have a big role in the offense despite the offseason additions of TEs Brandon Myers and Austin Seferian-Jenkins, according to head coach Lovie Smith. Smith said that he has "big plans" for Wright this year.

Fantasy Tip: Wright was a surprise in his rookie season as a nice red zone target for Mike Glennon. However, Glennon won't be the starter and tight ends have never been heavily utilized in a Smith-run offense. Wright shouldn't be drafted as anything more than a midrange TE2.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon efficient in win

Sun, 24 Nov 2013 15:11:07 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon completed 14 of his 21 pass attempts for 247 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 12 game against the Detroit Lions. He finished with a season-high 138.4 quarterback rating. "He's very calm in the huddle, no matter what the situation is in the game," TE Timothy Wright said Sunday, Nov. 24.

Buccaneers | Mike Williams has torn hamstring

Fri, 25 Oct 2013 16:14:05 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams (hamstring) said he is dealing with a torn hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: Williams likely will miss some playing time but owners should wait until a timetable is given until they consider dropping him. If he does miss a significant amount of time, Tiquan Underwood and Timothy Wright likely will gain more fantasy value and could be targets if available in leagues.

Buccaneers | Timothy Wright has chemistry with Mike Glennon

Wed, 16 Oct 2013 14:15:25 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Timothy Wright, a former undrafted wide receiver, has chemistry with rookie QB Mike Glennon, and it showed in Wright's start in Week 6 when he had seven catches for 91 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. "We came in together as rookies and we spent a lot of time during the offseason throwing routes on air and getting that timing down, that connection," said Wright. "You never thought, down this line, that we'd be the two hooking up together at this point, but it happened, and it's starting to show for us." Wright caught four of his seven passes on third downs, and they all resulted in moving the chains.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Wright is currently still behind Tom Crabtree on the depth chart, he has much more upside as a pass-catching tight end. Rookie QBs often rely on their tight ends often, too, making Wright a sleeper moving forward.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Timothy Wright had seven catches for 91 yards in Week 6, and he has become a dependable target for QB Mike Glennon. Four of his catches were on third down and moved the chains.

Fantasy Tip: He's still behind Tom Crabtree on the depth chart, but he could emerge as a sleeper for a bye-week fill-in.
